The location was excellent, we were sent to a separate building from the hotel I was a bit disappointed at first but actuely it was grand our room was clean and very quiet I would stay their again. Good value for money. My room was at the top of the building, lots of steps first I thought oh! God, but after the first day I didn't mind I ate and drank good so I was glad of a little work out, the position of the hotel couldn't be better makes up for the few extra steps inside.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a lovely 3 days break at this venice hotel. It was literally 30sec away from st marks square, and was beautiful. Would thoroughly recommend, both Venice and the hotel. Very good breakfast

Next to all sights and places to interest. Availability of light cooking at the kitchenete in the apartments (additional building). It`s good for families with children. There are problems with heating in the apartment n1. It was very much cold in the first couple days (november 2011), we could not sleep. The curtain holder in the bedroom was broken. We could not draw the blinds. It`s really uncomfortable in conditions of narrow streets and chanels - you can see everyone in the window opposite of you. Unfortunatly, photos of the hotel rooms on the internet-site can`t give you obvious information about room you will have. Information about our room was false. Ask before about all details and conditions of your stay!

The room in the annex was nice and the air conditioning worked well. We found the staff not friendly or helpful. One day our room was left unlocked and the door open after it was cleaned. There was no lift in the annex which was not stated in the hotel's description. There was no assistance/staffing at the annex except from about 8 to 11 in the morning.

The hotel is in a great location, an easy walk to the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square. We also really enjoyed being on the canal and watching the boat traffic. One of the reasons I selected the hotel was the advertised breakfast while it was good,it was not great, there was no fresh fruit and no eggs..

The hotel was in a great location between Rialto Bridge and St Marks Square. Our room was fairly spacious with a double bed and 2 single beds which was perfect for a family of 4 with teenagers. We also had a canal view - great entertainment watching the gondeliers negotiating the low bridges. Breakfast was included - but don't expect too much from this.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel and were 4 with our 2 teenagers. we had a big appartment with 2 different rooms very quiet and view on a canal with gondolas.

Breakfast delivered to our room - totally cute. The room was good and felt secure. Staff were very helpful 50 windy stairs up to the room (only really a problem when we had our bags!) Wi-fi in 'casa del suro' wasn't working

It was a perfect location. Easy walk even with luggage from vaporetto/water taxi stop to hotel about 15 to 20 minutes walking slowly. Location allowed for easy walk to the Rialto, St. Mark/s Square and vaporetto Rialto stop. Perfect view of a bridge, gondola stop below, building across decorated with flowers on windows. Our quad room was clean and spacious. Breakfast included in price was excellent and on time. Since there is no elevator it is difficult to go upstairs to the fourth floor with luggage. However, you can ask the front desk and they will help you. We tipped and it was worth it.

The staff are very welcoming, caring and helpful. The occasion that we stayed, I needed a dentist urgently and Andre was able to locate and book a very good dentist for that afternoon and offered to take me there as well. I really appreciated this as it made all the difference between what was an enjoyable or, could have been, a very unpleasant stay in Venice. We stayed in the quadruple room which was a reasonable size for my husband and I and our two teenage daughters but, as their is no lift to the room, I would hesitate to recommend it to the elderly because of the stairs. The breakfast room is a good size and typical continental fare is served. Lunch in the restaurant was also very good. I would happily recommend Al Gazzetino as a wonderful place to stay in Venice. Small bathroom was a bit of a squeeze for 4 adults but we managed.

Very friendly helpful staff, excellent location, views overlooking small canals. We were given a choice between standard room and an apartment in the annex around the corner. We took the apartment. It was a work in progress...the walls were still unpainted bare white plaster, but new bathroom, new floor to ceiling windows opening to small balconies, new, doors and trims, modern climate control system .the space was full of charm, quiet, and the small balconies from our second floor location were a great perch for observing the vitality of canal traffic and nearby pedestrian bridges. Just minor things...zero internet access while there. No hot water one morning. Furniture was basic zero to one star quality...surprising..needs to be upgraded .

We found the hotel perfectly placed between Rialto Bridge and St Marks Square, perfect for walking or taking a vaporetto to all the popular areas. The staff were friendly, helpful and the buffet breakfast provided an assortment of cereals, bread, cold meats and cheeses. I would recommend this hotel and stay again if we visited Venice. Good value for money, and we were offered a suite for the first night which we had not booked.

The hotel is in an excellent location with easy access to the Rialto vaporetto, the shopping district, many restaurants and to the most notable sights in Venice. It is smallish, which is not a drawback, and has a quiet, intimate atmosphere. Though certainly not a luxury enterprise, Il Gazzettino is pleasant and a good value for Venice. One complaint: the phone line was not working at the time of checkout, so I could not use a credit card for payment. I had to dash to an ATM for cash, which is an unwelcome inconvenience when one is needing to catch a train.
