location is good, clean.
room is very small
If you are not deaf do not stay here; the walls are paper thin. If you expect staff to be available before 9.;00 in the morning or after 1:00 in the afternoon you will be very disappointed. But you will receive
Everything was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It is close to the main street not far from the station. There are plenty of eateries all around and loads of shops.

We (My Husband, I and our two teenage sons) stayed at Al Portico Guest House in late October 2014. We arrived in Venice by train and the guest house was only a 10 minute walk from the station. The Vaporetto and Alilaguna stop was only a 5 minute walk away. It was hard to find and I couldn’t connect to Google maps at first so make sure you have detailed instructions to hand. When we did find it we found it was a “proper” old Venetian house. The location was really good and we could walk to all of the major sights within 30 minutes or less. We could have used the water bus or taxi but we didn’t feel the need. Apparently we were meant to be given an access code for the main door but we didn’t get this, so we rang and someone buzzed us in. We followed the steep stairs up to a door marked reception and there was a table with that days welcome letter and room keys for us to let ourselves in. Our rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. We had the two rooms on the top floor, one of which could have been used as a family room if the children were younger. We had a little private veranda and access to a shared outside space overlooking the Venetian rooftops. There was some fruit, tea and a coffee machine but only a couple of pouches provided. The shower rooms were very tiny but clean and functional. Breakfast is basic and delivered to your room on a tray between 9 and 10.30. This was lovely on the 2nd day but as we had an early excursion booked on the 1st day, we missed it. The staff only seem to be around in the morning, but they are all helpful and friendly. I loved this guest house and would stay here again. It wouldn’t suit anyone who has difficulty with stairs or anyone who would prefer the more available service you’d get in a hotel, but I thought it was charming, in a great location and good value for money.
It was a bit hard to find and the steep stairs might not suit everyone.
The room was very homely yet fresh and clean. The bed and pillows were simply amazing. There was little noise (if any), the staff were very courteous and brought us a lovely breakfast in the morning with fresh juice and coffee. Lots of storage space for luggage and a chair or 2 for lounging on.
Was a little cold in the room at the time of year (late October), so some form of heating would have benefited.
The location was excellent and the Continental breakfast was decent. It's a really old building but would defiantly stay there again. The staff were very nice
The shower/bath itsy bitsy tiny. I'm a small person and I found it very challenging to move around. The shower/bathtub was more than half the size of a regular bath. The bed could of been a bit more comfortable, but not enough to deter me from staying there again
The location, the welcome
The breakfast was too late for us, as we had to leave early.
Loved the location, room, staff, breakfast, the terrace and the price!
The bed was a little too hard
The staff were extra friendly and helpful, they provided great service - such as breakfast delivered to the room, it was a really clean room with everything we needed. Also, there was no issue with is arriving at 2.30am in the morning after a delayed flight.
Unfortunately during our stay there was maintenance work being done on the top level, which meant for quite a noisy stay, with work starting quite early. Also, our room overlooked the back of some shops, who had their supplies delivered by motorboat and unloaded by trolleys at 6am both mornings! It felt like we were staying on a worksite. I know this is not the hotel's fault, but it would be worthy to ask for a room not facing the canal.
cheaper than other rooms in venezia. breakfast was nice because staff served directly to the room.
about 11minutes walk from station, but the road is not good and kinda hard to find. very dark at night and no many ppl around the house, so it was a little bit scary.
Location near water bus station
The picture of yard is not the hotel. It is a restaurant. the room is dark, old and dirty
Fine views from our room (top floor). Extremely agreeable and helpful manager. Quiet location but close to main street. Good breakfast in room or rooftop terrace. Coffee machine in room.
Tiny bathroom with eccentric plumbing. No elevator and steep stairs. No safe in room.
Location Helpful People Comfort Peaceful Convenience Next to very lively street a lot of earing options... :-)
No WiFi :-(
Adequate accommodation in convenient location for 1 overnight stay.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Great location, short wall to multiple taxi stops and major train station. Room was clean, modern and comfy. Breakfast brought to you room every morning, simple but delicious!
Bathroom was on the small end, however very clean. No wifi.
Perfect position, away from busy areas but not to far.Staff were awesome. Very helpful with advice.Brekkie on rooftop lovely!
Good staff, pleasant breakfast on the terrace.
Very uncomfy bed. Tiny bathroom (sink actually next to the bed). Don't expect an amazing room
Great central location in typical Venician house. Simple but met purpose for our one nights stay.
- Very basic but for price didn't really expect more. - Sure the London bus picture on wall was meant to make Brits feel welcome, however not really appreciated! LOL.
Great location walking distance to everywhere, 10 min walk from main station, nice comfortable room, sweet breakfast
The quite spacious room, with a balcony, full of light at last floor . We needed an early breakfast at 7.30 and they did their best to prepare for us at least some food and drinks. Usually they serve breakfast from 9.
Sebastian was lovely, very friendly and helpful. Location was amazing. Walking distance to every key place. Breakfast was lovely and was delivered to the room every morning. Also had a balcony which was a bonus. Size of the room was really big - size of a small apartment. They also offer a terrace for those that don't have a balcony. Room has it's own coffee machine and snacks upon arrival. Very clean!
Recommend you shower in the evening instead of the morning as the waters were much warmer then. Wifi was a bit of an issue but was sorted quite quickly. Apart from that, spot on!
Location wasn't bad. Staff was helpful
We had only cold water in the shower, which was terrible. The breakfast was served at the earliest 9am and our train leaved at 8:30am. We told the staff this and he made it seem like we would receive our breakfast earlier, but never did, although this was not a big deal.
