Al Tuscany B&B

Al Tuscany is a charming, clean and comfortable European B&B with the most accommodating host ever. Claudio is true gentleman who told us that he retired from his career as an architect in Rome to run this B&B in Lucca. He obviously loves his second career because he could not have been more kind or helpful. He picked us up at the train station, drove us to pick up our rental car, rode his bicycle to put money in the parking meter, took my husband's eyeglasses to the optician, made phone calls for us when Italian was needed, offered suggestions and generally helped to make our 3 day stay in Lucca wonderful. We can't say enough about Claudio and Al Tuscany. If you are looking for posh and upscale, perhaps this is not a perfect fit for you. If you want a charming, comfortable, spotless, friendly and reasonably priced place to stay inside the walls of beautiful Lucca, look no further.

We have nothing negative to say. It was all good and we would definitely book at Al Tuscany again.

Claudio was very helpful. He gave us great restaurant suggestions and even called to make sure they would take care of us. He even squeezed us fresh orange juice in the mornings. The room was charming and well decorated. Location was excellent in the old city and a short walk to the train station.

Would have preferred fresh pastries rather than the prepackaged items

The owner, Guido, was warm and welcoming. The room was exactly what I wanted in this historic place...close to the centre of the walled city.

You must have the address as there are no large signs on the Building.

The staff is friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere and we felt like at home. Lovely, old fashioned furniture.There is a lift and well equipped bathroom. Guests can use kitchen. Breakfast was good enough with all you need. We liked fresh orange juice and bruschetta.

Absolutely great! The owner is very nice, he was really helpfull with everything. The breakfast was lovely (fresh made orange juice and bruscetta etc). The house and our room were cozy. Lovely view over Lucca. Great location.

The owner was very helpfull and he tryed to be friendly. It has elevator. The location is the best thing at the B&B.

The house is old, without conservation. He has beautifull antique furnitures but they are out of place, the space look like a deposit of old things.

We enjoyed the location which seemed very central and the fact that it had an elevator. Claudio was very kind and helpful and it was a bonus that they offered a continental breakfast.

Overall, we enjoyed the B&B but the decor was "tired" looking and could use some sprucing up. Other than that, the bed was comfortable and clean.

Funky cool old building. Owner was very nice and accommodating. Our room was in the back and was very quiet over looking the neighbors charming yards. Central location. Easy enough to walk from the train station. Bike ride around the city wall on the owners bikes was a lovely highlight.

I arrived at Al Tuscany early after a whirlwind tour of Rome, Siena and Firenze, hours before check-in. Owner Claudio welcomed me heartily, showed me around, set me up with activites for the evening and dinner recommendations. Loaned me a bicycle to tour the town, free of charge, patiently answered my many questions and gave me a historical tour of the building. Wonderful breakfast in large homey breakfast room around on big table (great for sharing experiences with other travelers!) with homemade bruchetta and fresh squeezed orange juice. Raining at my time of departure and Claudio drove me to train station. Grazie Claudio for making me feel so at home in your beautiful town of Lucca!

Improve the breakfast on offer.

It's quite quirky but very atmospheric! Claudio the owner is fantastic - speaks English and can't do enough for you. Recommend as part of your Lucca experience! It's also very quiet, despite being right in the middle of town.

The owner was charming - made us feel very comfortable - couldnt do enough for us. His lovely dog Jerry wandered about, making the whole place feel like staying inside someones home - wonderful. The owner leant us bikes to ride around the ramparts - which was a lovely touch. Lucca was a revalation - our most beautiful destination in Tuscany, will come back again.

The B&B was family run by very friendly staff. The rooms are old fashioned but clean (apart from shower step). Note that they are on the fourth floor of a large old building and you really need to use the 2 person lift!). The breakfast is good, eaten around a large family table seating 11 people. The owner has a small dog called 'Jerry' (but no sign of 'Tom'). Location is superb, in the centre of Lucca. The owner provided tickets to a one hour opera festival with two superb sopranos and pianist. (These festivals take place on 360 days a year.) Access to the kitchen was made available to make tea, coffee with hotel provisions.

The rubber sealing strip on our shower needed cleaning. Not a big deal.

Some guests made noise in the public space at night, and someone rang the doorbell of our room...

The owner of the hotel is very friendly and will help you at every opportunity. He really looked after us and made us very welcome.

We had a very pleasant stay, an extremely gentle owner gave us his own bikes, offered us some drinks and gave us touristic info. Nice rooms, nice location, we will be back here next year!

Claudio and staff were amazing the whole time we stayed at Al Tuscany - thank you! Great breakfast, great location within the old walls for exploring Lucca. Would definitely recommend! Hotel is on top floor but there is a lift to help with this. Great stay!

Al Tuscany is located inside the walls of Lucca so a great place to base yourselves and explore the delightful town of Lucca. We felt very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights stay. The staff are friendly and willing to help in any way they can. Al Tuscany is very clean and comfortable with a tasty and substantial breakfast available.

Our host was extremely welcoming and accommodated our requests with no hesitation. It is situated in a traditional building in the centre of the old town and is an ideal base for wandering the beautiful town of Lucca. The family room was huge, decorated in a traditional style and with traditional furniture, it was both comfortable and clean. Breakfast was lovely with a range of food available. I would not hesitate to recommend.

Although there is a lift those visitors with mobility problems should note that there is a small flight of stairs before you get to the lift.

The place gives you the chance to live the Italian way, it's a centered location a bit tiny but extremely welcoming host. I really had a nice experience.

The room was a bit tight, and the breakfast was not fancy. But actually that gave me the opportunity to go and discover Lucca.
