This is the view of the three of us, a mature couple with a friend: Best Western Hotel Ala was very clean, the breakfast was excellent with a wide range of choices to make, the staff were attentive and helpful, there was a lift to the upper floors, the rooms were spacious and the bathroom we had was roomy and very clean. Internet as well as wifi was provided in a small room with an on-line computer and printer, all free. Of course, its proximity to a vaporetto stop, gondolier stand, and close walking distance to all the exciting and interesting features of Venice were most appealing; there are many good restaurants close by. It was one of the best European hotels we have stayed in at that price range, and we will certainly return, and recommend this hotel.

Beautiful venetian decoration, room very clean and quiet. Good breakfast. Very good location near San Marco square, vaporetto stop, stores and restaurants. Elevator goes only to second floor. I had to change the assigned room and pay more.

Very easy to find from the vaporetto line 1, (S. Maria del Giglio stop), and within a few minutes of St Mark's Square, la Fenice, the Accademia and the very smart shops. Lots of reasonable dining options nearby. Would stay again.

The breakfast was excellent. Front desk staff very helpful - arranged tickets to a concert for us. The bedroom overlooked one of the canals. It's in an historical square, about 10 minutes walk from San Marco. It's a three minutes walk to a water bus stop.

The Hotel location is really good, just few meters away from ligne 1 Vaporetto, the room design was really nice, it was clean and big. The bathroom was kind of big, we had also an amazing view on the Canal. The breakfast was delicious. I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel and I would definitely recommend it.

The bright airy room tastefully decorated baroque style, was very spacious for a Venetian Hotel, with a wonderful view from our windows over Campo s Maria Zobenigo where we could watch the people passing, stall holders & shopkeepers. And a side view to the 17th century Santa Maria del Giglio. Being only 50metres to the 'Giglio' vaporetto stop was a bonus for getting around. Still close enough to Piazza San Marco to hear the bells ringing. The advertising did say 'No Pets Allowed" surprised to see a dog brought into the dinning room at breakfast. Water taxi may not pick-up or drop off at hotel canal entrance due to canal being full of Gondoliers, will drop you at Giglio then a short walk to hotel.

The hotel was in an excellent position to walk to the main sightseeing destinations in Venice. The breakfast was much more like a five star hotel breakfast. The drinks in the bar and mini bar were very reasonable. As the weather was good the roof terrace although small was ideal to have a drink and rest after a busy day sightseeing. Some tables and chairs in the square outside the hotel would be nice but I am not sure you are allowed to do that.

The location was in a convenient spot for us. The toilet stopped flushing around 10pm the second night we were there and we had to move rooms. The front desk staff would not even upgrade our room (which was very tiny) for the inconvenience. The room was very small and the bathroom was very cramped. There was not a working outlet in the room so that I could use my curling iron. We stayed on the top floor and there was not an elevator.

The location is perfect. There was a lovely selection of food at breakfast time all fresh and replenished constantly and served until 10.45 excellent. The hotel bar was very busy with a good atmosphere. We had a lovely room overlooking the canal, very quiet and peacefull. The water for the shower was not quite hot enough and the temperature of the room again could have been a bit wamer. When you have been out all day in very cold temperatures you need to have a bit more heat.

The location of Hotel Ala can't be beat!!!! It is a short block walk from the Vaporetto stop Santa Maria del Giglio too. We have stayed there on 4 different trips.....really good breakfast was included in our rate too. We had a nice sized room (114) up a flight of stairs from sitting area and entrance to dining room. We ate in 2 restaurants that we knew from prior visits but were give 2 excellent suggestions from staff for our other meals - Pizzeria al Teatro, and Vino Vino - both nearby. When tour groups gathered in the sitting area of hotel, the noise carried upstairs to our room......fortunately it did not happen everyday.

This hotel is very centrally located, 5 minutes to San Marco and Doge's Palace and many, many restaurants and shops...direct to the hotel Water Taxi access or by Vaporertta at the Giglio stop next to the hotel. It is a nice easy walk to Rialto Bridge and Academia Bridge. The included breakfast is excellent, a full breakfast with eggs, breakfast meats, wide selection of breads, cereal and yogurts. The WiFi is very good at a cost of 1 euro. The hotel staff are very polite and very helpful. Would highly recommend. Our room overlooked the canal with Gondoliers frequently passing by.

Excellently located on a small canal off the Grand Canal, with gondolas often going by. Conveniently located close to historical attractions and transportation (vaporetti). The room was beautifully decorated with antique furnishings and exceptionally clean. A varied, complete and well prepared breakfast. Would definately stay here again, perhaps for longer. Good value for the ambiance and experience.

Very good location, near S. Marcos Square, acceded by the street with best brands, like Prada, Gucci, Channel, Miu Miu, etc, etc, a must! The hotel is nice, with good accomodations, good bed and good pillow. The breakfeast is also good, with a variety of options for every taste and needs. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but yuo can find very nice restaurants near and in the Fenice Theatre Square, only at 5 min walking. Expect a normal 25 euros Pax for a decent meal. Venice is always full of tourist, now with Chinese fource. Venice is a very safe place in our days to be a couple of days, enjoy! By the way, the wi-fi for 24 hours cost only one euro. So, dont forget your Ipad !!!

I fell down and fractured my anke at the Opera House in Venice. The staff went out of their way to help me. Very kind and helpful people. Their breakfasts were awsome. Our room overlooked a small canal and it was fun listening to them sing and play the accordion.

The location is nice and close to the tourist attractions. The hotel bar is comfortable and the drink prices are reasonable. The breakfast was a bit of a let-down: No fruit salad, no Italian coffee, industrial brioches. For the room price I would have expected a better breakfast.

Location was great. Right at the vaporetti stop ( giglio station ). Only 5 mins walk to St.Mark's square, and there are many shops, like gucci, prada, burberry, louis vuitton, along the way! Hotel staff was nice too. And breakfast was excellent compared to the european standard and considering the fact that this is only a 3-star hotel. Wifi costs 1€/24hours. It's cheap, but this should have been offered for free.
