Offering panoramic views of the Cinque Terre coastline, Albergo Suisse runs a free scheduled shuttle service to Monterosso, half a mile away. All air-conditioned rooms come equipped with satellite TV....
Score from 253 reviews Very good
The breakfast was good and the outside terrace was amazing, with 4 levels, including picnic benches & tables with great views over the town. There is even a ping pong table where we enjoyed a few rounds of table tennis.
Our room was "adequate"..very plain, small & dark with no frills. It made us want to stay ourdoors as much as possible. It seemed very tired, in need of some paint & remodelling considering the high price of the room. It is also a fair walk from the train station with a bit of an uphill stretch with stairs.
Good location in the center of the old city
Old rooms and facilities Poor breakfast Not very welcoming staff
easy walking distance to beach and train station; It's not on the beach, but the views are phenomenal; the garden and views; large breakfast; some helpful staff; great location near many restaurants; fun atmosphere; good AC and wi-fi
The rooftop terrace was beautiful overlooking Monterosso.
Told the front desk we were checking out early, she told us were to leave the key but neglected to tell us the lift/elevator would not be working. Had to lug 3 suitcases down 4 flights of steps! Also had a problem with ants in the room/bathroom, need earplugs as you could hear everything in the next room. Over priced.
location, breakfast and staff
We had to get a new wi fi account number every 10 hours
Not in the thick of it but central in the old town. Very clean, nice garden area, extremely helpful staff on reception. We had a room with a balcony (don't expect views of any great sights) which made the room feel larger. Plenty of choice for breakfast with good choice of local restaurants.
No tea/coffee facilities in the room, but that's a minor negative.
We stayed at this place for just one night as we wanted to visit the area a little bit and go trekking from there. The hotel is located in the heart of the old town which means that restaurants, shops etc. are within walking distance. Breakfast was alright.
Albergo Degli Amici is perfectly located in the very cute section of Monterossa al Mare. The walk to the hotel was easy, convenient and only involved a few steps at the end. The staff provided us with a fabulous balcony room with a beautiful view of the Ligurian sea. Their terraced garden is a lovely place to sit and view the surroundings or play a little ping pong tennis. We would absolutely return again.
The accommodations in a village like cinque terre are simple, with small beds and thin walls. We requested two twin beds which worked out great.
Small and dirty bathroom Wifi non functional Not worth the price, especially for a low season period Old building No light coming from the balcony (facing the wall of the hotel)
Room and breakfast were great.
Wifi was inconsistent
The location was central to everything specially Angelo's Boat Tour which was the highlight of our trip. We had two couples so tool the two bedroom suite overlooking the sea. Beautiful.
Wifi was irritating. Needed to renter the pass code every time. Breakfast was very good but lady attending was a bit snippy..but obviously overworked. Had to wait for the coffee machine every time.
The hotel has a nice location. Rooms are very basic, but we are hardly in our rooms, so that's not an issue for us. Breakfast was nice with hot and cold options.
The location was great, although taking our 5 suitcases and a double stroller up the cobblestone street was quite a feat - good thing we are young and in shape. It would be nice if the hotel emails some options as to getting your bags to it like we did when we checked out. We hired the Porta Balliagi (a mini pickup truck that can drive right up to the hotel) to take our bags to the train station. Much better than the taxi we used when we got there that could only leave us at the bottom of the street.
Good location, excellent breakfast, clean, quiet & overall nice hotel.
No wifi while we were there, no information regarding tourist attractions namely walking trails which we specifically asked about, no info regarding cinque Terre card, staff couldn't be bothered.
Very bad wifi connection. It didn't work at all for 2 days. Made it very difficult to book the onward legs of our trip.
The town if Monterosso is small. It's large by 5terra standards. But small with no cars and narrow cobblestone lane ways. We didn't have difficulty finding the hotel from the train station. Thw counter staff on check in was very helpful. The free roof top terraced garden was incredible. Olive trees, lemon grove, fig trees, grape vines and herbs to explore a good five level if terrace. But the most incredible part was the view from the garden. It's indescribable. Well worth the visit. Cinque terra is a beautiful part if Italy. I thing Monterosso is the best village to base your stay and this hotel is exceptionally well located with stunning views.
The hotel free wifi was patchy and dropped out frequently
The location is really nice, it's just about 5 minutes to go to the beach. Also the bedroom and bathroom are clean, neat and cozy. The service is great; I asked for a beach towel before I arrive, they already set it in my room. I liked the breakfast, too: they have several kinds of breads, juices, fruits, fresh yogurts, scrembled eggs with bacons, etc.
I took a single room with balcony on the second floor, the view was not that good. I just could see the buildings in front of the hotel... If you want to see the sea, you have to take the room on the 4th or the highest floor. Also my room was quite small... but I think it was not that bad for a one night.
Excellent location central for everything. Easy walk to and from the train station.
hard bed but we survived
Staff was friendly
Noise from other rooms at night Very plain general aspect Price
Everything! Location, facilities, breakfast, air-conditioning! Staff were very helpful. Beautiful garden looking over the rooftops. Very quiet in the evenings given the hotel's closeness to bars/restaurants.
unreliable wifi, unwelcoming staff, very small tired rooms
Location to the beach; excellent breakfast
Liked the Garden Room at the top of the hotel. Pretty views. Could hear the faint village sounds all around on the balcony. Could see the sea. Very beautiful in Cinque Terre. Close to the largest beach in Monterrosso. Ferry access to Vernazza right there and Trail number two in Cinque Terre right there as well. Two of us hiked with our packs and two of us rode the ferry to Vernazza. Everyone was happy. Great eating places all around. Area is a bit pricey but so very beautiful. Worth every penny, Hotel has a great breakfast room with the best breakfast we ate in Italy. (we were there 3 and a half weeks!) They had eggs, meats and varieties of pastries and fruit were awesome. Fruit was just beautiful and delicious. They sell park passes right at desk or at beginning of trail. Not too far from train station. Cinque Terre is a very active person kinda place. expect to walk, climb etc. everywhere. We just loved it!! Hotel was great. We would stay here again.
Liked the quaintness and the location . Rooms very clean and great breakfast !
