Score from 427 reviews Excellent
Location, closeness to one of the nicer villages in the area and many restaurants, parking on site, swimming pool, comfy bed, attentive owner.
The rustic look and more relaxed approach may not appeal to everyone e.g. door handles/lights not functioning properly, small bathroom etc. Breakfast sometimes lacked polish e.g. flies on fruit and slightly stale bread. Only small negatives on the scheme of things.
Great location on edge of Castellina within walking distance of town centre and restaurants. Good parking.
When we arrived the owner told us they were full (we'd booked in the morning & at that time it was listed on many sites). She took us to a place that required lots of gravel road travel. Appeared nice but would not want to get there in the dark. We wanted to be closer to town so returned & she said she would "switch with someone else." The room was damp - light summer clothing left to dry in the morning not dry by evening. Also generally clean, but lots of cobwebs. Not much attention to detail. Breakfast linens had old stains, outside plastic furniture dirty and cracked. The place needs some overall TLC.
Staying 3 days was superb, hosts awesome, and walking to village easy. Recommend highly to anyone wanting italian countryside and nice handy to Siena and SanGimignano
Quaint and very italian. Furniture all very old and rustic (drawers stuck but didn't matter!) lovely quiet place. Bathrooms a bit dated. Clean, and nice basic breakfast
The host was lovely, breakfast on the veranda was so nice. The hotel has amazing view with a great pool, which is so clean. Would defiantly like to visit again xxx
Just the hornets which keeps trying to come in the room.
Robeta the owner is great. A beautiful place lovely people. Would stay again
location swiming pool
price higher vs Booking' original one breakfast could be richer little windows in the room, poor light poor towels set lack of attention to details: doors handle broken, wc cover broken
The rooms were very rustic but clean. Roberta, the owner, was very pleasant and helpful. The pool was large with sun beds round. Roberta was very happy for us to borrow glasses and provide ice as there was no bar in the hotel.
The whole place outside needed a lot of attention and cleaning, the chairs for breakfast all needed cleaning, as did the pool area. It just needed some time and T.L.C.! There is no bar or evening meal as it says there is and the mini fridges did not work!
The food was five star quality. The staff were friendly, communative. The location above Como in the hills was perfect for coolness and scenery. It was a hidden gem!
There was nothing we didn't like
Amazing location in vineyards- great views and such relaxing atmosphere. Roberta was a wonderful host.
Good location, possibility to have breakfast outside on the terrace
Good location, near the village. With a little imagination and s good spring clean, it could be great.
Poor breakfast and too many signs with instructions for guests.
Friendly and personable owner. The employees are respectful. Charming hotel that is in the heart of the town. The whole hotel was very clean, but managed to stay charming. They felt like family :)
Lovely place and as near to the centre of Castellina in Chianti as you can get. There is a lovely wine bar on the main pedestrian only section, next to a pizzeria BTW. Great selection and friendly guys.
Charming room in a beautiful old farm house within walking distance to Castellina in Chianti. Breakfast was simple, with great coffee. Very quiet rooms, nice view, and a sitting area. Great value. We would stay here again.
The bathroom was very dirty, with someone's hairs. Very poor breakfast. No hot meals like eggs at list. The wi-fi didn't work good. In the morning there was very noisy because the road is nearby.
The hostess was very nice and helped us a lot. there is a parking in front of the place. the view was nice. the breakfast was very satisfying
the bad wasn't that comfortable. the lightning in the room was weak. the wifi was weak (it didn't work on the laptop, just on the smartphone.
We had such an amazing time ... that was my first time I stayed in B&B, thanks to my work I've been always fortunate to stay in best of hotels but there is now Four Seasons or Hyatt in Castelina. It felt like staying with your family. Very clean, great breakfast and the best coffee I had in ages. Truly recommended.
Great charming rustic accommodation in a rural setting (complete with pool and shaded gardens); yet less than 5 minutes walk to the center of Castelina in Chianti. Very comfortable and relaxing with an enthusiastic and helpful host. Highly recommended.
Close to the centre
Beautiful traditional italian villa/hotel, set in a wonderful friendly hillside town in Chianti. Staff very laid back & friendly. Lovely coffee for breakfast, relaxing loungers at pool. Bedroom cool and quaint.
What a little gem ! Roberta and her mum were the perfect hosts. They were always on hands to answer any queries we had about getting out and about in Tuscany. The facilities were good - the fridge in the room was a godsend. Yes it may be a bit 'rustic' but it was very homely and we always felt very comfortable and at ease. The location was perfect - a very short, flat walk into the centre where you can find many restaurants and bars. Castellina is a great base for visiting other parts of Tuscany. The onsite parking was a huge bonus too.
The location is good, but the accommodation and swimming pool are somewhat neglected.
A three minute walk into the village of Castellina provided a restaurants, shopping and wine outlets. A drive around Chianti vineyards is a must with quaint villages and lovely countrtside. Roberta ensured our stay was comfortable, restful and provided good local knowledge. The pool was great as it was hot in August. Rooms were comfortable and rustic.
Our mattress could do with replacing as it was quite firm for us.
