The building is very old, with frescoes on the ceiling of some rooms, and thick walls. It was so close to the Duomo, we were looking at it from our window, in room #8.

We arrived late at night, and since the entry is practically unmarked, we couldn't find it. The tunnel entrance, dark concrete stairway and ancient elevator were disconcerting at that time.

Umberto is a terrific host. The hotel is in a great location, in Duomo Square, we had room #8 which was huge! the beds were all twin size and fairly comfortable (my girls liked them, too soft for me)

shower was difficult to work wifi in common room not the greatest, really had to stand in the hallway to get good wifi reception because the hotel is IN Duomo Square it is pretty noisy at night till around 1 am.

Outstanding location, extra friendly English-speaking staff, excellent hotel. Nothing what I didn't like about this hotel.

Room is big,cozy and warm with own bathroom. The bed in the room is absolutely comfortable and perfect for sleeping. Staff is very nice and helpful. Situated in the very center, facing the Domo cathedral. We loved it!

In the centre of town, look out the window at the Duomo, shutters and double glazing were a good sound barrier. Frescoed ceiling.

Bathrooms could have been cleaner - with shared bathrooms, you probably need them cleaned more than once a day.

Location was unbeatable and the owner was very helpful. It was cheap and cheerful but I would recommend the hotel and I would stay there again.

The location is best! Just beside the Dome, very close to train station. Hotel staff is really really friendly (although we woke up late and check out late; they were tolerant. Wifi is free. Hotel is really clean and has a unique lovely atmosphere.

Has air-conditioning, lovely big bedroom, and a very stylish bathroom. The location is great, lots of nice restaurants in the area, the hospital is a 10 min walk, metro 5 min walk.

Wi-Fi is not distributed in the rooms, so if you want to check the internet you have to be near the reception. The reception is oddly enough in another building, not in the one where our room was. So, if you want to get online late at night, you have to put on your pants and shirt, go down a couple of circular stairs that go on forever, leave one building and enter another across the street! Reception people know very little english. Breakfast is poor, only croissants, milk, juice and 1 choice of cereals.

The secret of this hotel is location location location! We opened our window and we had a full view of the Duomo, we knew the hours of the day by the ringing bells of the Duomo! You are in the center of the city with unbelievable price!!! You are right in the center, near to everything, the train station, the Duomo, the monuments, shops, caffes,....everything! And the staff are very helpful and extremely nice, we had no complaints at all...it's a hidden gym in firenze :)

My brothers and I really loved the location of the hotel it is literally two steps from the duomo. Everything was close and the hotel staff were very helpful when it came to providing information about places that could be visited while in florence.

Wifi signal was very poor in the rooms it could be used only close to the entrance.

There was a lot of noise from squeaky wood floors

Fantastisk beliggenhed. Gammel herskabslejlighed, slidt af mange år, men meget rent, de store florentinske gulvklinker på værelserne var meget rene. Der blev gjort rent på værelset hver dag. Fantastisk udsigt fra værelserne(var blevet skuffet hvis der ikke var). San Giovanni holdt hvad de lovede ved reservationen. God kommunikation med ejer via mail. Hvis man er til standard hotel med lidt luksus, skal man ikke booke her. En tidslomme i Firenze. Beliggenhed beliggenhed beliggenhed!!!!!

Den meget lille og klaustrofobiske elevator. Men tog bare trapperne.
