The hotel and rooms were gorgeous. The theme is really lovely. I was with a friend but I imagine it would be romantic with a lover. The location is very central. The staff were helpful. The breakfast was quite good compared to what we had been having in other hotels!

Hotel Alessandra is well located in the centre of Palermo just off Via Roma/Via Macqueda, 10 minute walk from the railway station which was convenient for us as arrived by train from the airport. It's also well located for visiting the cathedral, parliament building and other main sights. The staff were fine, decor was appropriate to the budget, and there is a nice seating area near reception. The bathroom was very small (we were in room 17 which was a triple room) but accept this as part of a budget booking. Palermo is a noisy city, so beware of this. The breakfast was also basic, mostly sweet cakes and pastries, though the coffee machine was much appreciated. Travellers also beware it is at the top of two large flights of stairs with no lift.

Very charming hotel, with authetic interior on the second floor of a restored palazzo. A bit old fashioned, but not lacking comfort. Close to the Quatro Canti, the Ballaro Market, and very close to the Central Station.

The central location and proximity to the train station (and bus to the airport) were a key feature for me. In addition, the large rooms and formal furniture gave it an elegant feel. Some of the staff were really eager to help and to solve problems. Our room was on a busy city street, so it was noisy at night (and early in the morning). The breakfast was late appearing and fast disappearing. I suggest you add some milk to the buffet for the cereal, and some slice meat and cheese would also be great. It would also be convenient if the coffee could be turned on before 8 am, as that is when I need it.

Beautiful old building and nice room. Warning to anyone who cannot climb stairs because there are 71 steps up a broad marble staircase and no elevator. We did not mind but others could have a problem.
