Fabulous,
Score from 166 reviews
“ This hotel is a quaint pensione like they used to be with wonderful staff, comfortable rooms, a wonderful location and a great breakfast. The decor is homely and full of character, and the building is beautiful. The staff are particularly helpful and it feels intimate. There is a room with books and a computer...a home away from home. ”

The staff were extremely helpful and warm. It is an honest, very clean, excellently located hotel. It is not a luxury hotel (and it could not be at this price), but it is a great hotel for its category. We stayed at the junior suite with a river view. It is an enormous room, with a great view. This did not affect us, but be aware that this is not a good hotel for anyone with mobility issues. There are 30 steps until you reach the lift (and it is one of those tiny old-fashioned lifts). The junior suite is about 10 steps down from reception, and the bathroom is three steps down again.

Staff were fantastic. Location is hard to beat. Value for money us right up there. Yes there might be flasher places to stay but you will need much deeper pockets to get them.

Definitely the best hotel I stayed in(!), due to the familial atmosphere, wonderful staff, comfortable rooms, best location and a great breakfast. Although not a fancy one, with many stairs and a tinny elevator, the attitude is so warm and pleasant, that you really don't care. The decor is homely and full of character, the staff are particularly helpful and it feels intimate: a home away from home!

The location was great. The staff were pretty friendly. The bathroom was right down the end of the hall and you had two sets of keys, one for your room, one for the bathroom. This was very uncomfortable for me and my wife. It was quite noisy once people started moving.

The staff were wonderful (particularly Andrea and, of course, Monty) both before and during my stay; they were helpful, kind and courteous. The hotel was in an excellent location - one block from the Ponte Vecchio - close to everything! There was a lovely breakfast every morning, and all of this for such a reasonable price! I can't think of anything - even the "dreaded" 30 steps were do-able... and there were only 28!

Easy, straightforward, friendly, excellent service. Shower curtain didn't have weights at the bottom (so it wraps itself around you too easily which is horrible). Glass doors are better still... Breakfast finished at 0930 which is a bit early for holiday mode...

Location and staff were top notch. All the big museums and points of interest were within a few minutes stroll. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only issue is door lock. Old style door does not lock automatically, requires one to lock it from inside, can be quite dangerous in case of emergency.

The staff were, without doubt, the friendliest, most helpful and charming of any employees we were in contact with anywhere in the month we spent in Europe. From the young man who looked after the reception desk when we arrived to the lovely lady in the breakfast room, we were treated with politeness and an attitude that we were welcome. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a laid-back, homey place to stay in the middle of a fascinating city. Those darn stairs to get to reception.

Great location. Great service from the friendly staff. With the window shut it was very quiet with no street noise. Nice large room. If i had to pick something... The bathroom needed a bit better cleaning. The shower curtain looked old and moldy. I would stay there again just the same.

The location was great. Monti is incredible! Such an asset to the hotel. The shared bathroom was the public bathroom in the main hallway. It felt like we were sharing with the entire floor. The bathroom was always steamy and wet.

Great location for walking around the city centre, staff couldn't fault they were really good and helpful. Like many hotels in Florence there were stairs to climb before you even got to the very small lift.

We were expected and welcomed. Receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful.Bravo! Rooms were big clean and comfortable. Although shared, the bathrooms were clean with enough hot water and clean towels. Breakfast was excellent and staff helpful. Luggage storage a handy service. The pillows and the mosquitos!!!

I felt at home from the moment I was greeted by Monte, so welcoming, and he made me a tea tray with a starched white cloth, which I had in the lounge. My room was large, and even though I had chosen a shared bathroom, there was a hand basin in the room. Breakfast was lovely, with a good variety of food, and tea pots for avid tea drinkers like me! Andrea and his mother were gracious and sincere hosts, willing to help in any way, including printing out tickets for museums. The building is charming, a 15th century palace, but very homelike. The location is superb, just steps from the Ponte Vecchio. I'm definitely going back. The only thing negative is the steps from the door to the lift, but Europe has so much history, it's difficult to fit that into modern accessibility.

Located in a nice area near the river Arno with a couple nice wine bars and restaurants nearby. Only 15 min walk from train station and 10 minutes to most main attractions. Staff was really helpful and friendly and very accommodating to us. We would definitely stay here again. Can't think of anything...
