Apartment was really nice, very clean, good location
so noisy! didn't sleep most of the night. lucky we were there for one night only
The property was well situated within reasonable walking distance of all Florence Historic attractions. Spotlessly clean and bathroom excellent. Owner helpful.Other apartments looked beetr and more spacious
Overall we were disappointed with apartment 'Madam Butterfly" it was not good value for money.Spiral staircase needs mentioning in publicity could be difficult for elderly people.Small,no comfortable chairs on which to sit simply a fold up third bed which only seated one.Lack of storage for clothes no drawers. One bedside light not working. Owner not there on arrival waited 1 hour Lack of basic utensils in kitchen total 3 knives, forks, spoons, wooden spoon and fork.No serving spoons, no side plates, only one cooking ring working and a faulty coffee machine, nothing with which to make tea. We were very disappointed as had hoped to budget by having a few evening meals in the property but this was very difficult. Advertised for 3 but this would have been very claustrophobic.Would NOT recommend this aprtment
Attractive apartment and otherwise good location for those who want to share in the night. Good location to major areas of interest.
Very noisey at night from late night revellers in the local restaurants/bars and square and early in the morning with council workers clearing up
This apartment-style accommodation is conveniently located and walking to most of the central part of the city is easily done. It was nice to be able to get lunch and breakfast food (and wine) and have it in the room. This saved a lot of cost and provided a nice oasis in the middle of a lot of walking. I would definitely recommend Al Giglio Bottonato.
The only negative was the odd smell. I cannot be sure it was associated with the room because I did encounter the smell when on the street in other parts of the city. It was not an air conditioner problem and it wasn't unpleasant enough to be problematic, but it was noticeable.
Loved the accommodation, the price and the location in the daytime
At night downstairs was the gathering place for young people, complete with barking dogs till 3 am.Take earplugs. The woman who looks after the place was never there before 10.30am of after 6pm. So no password for WiFI ,no cleaning daily and no toilet paper.
Good location, walking distance to all sights, clean
Staff was rude especially the gentleman there. Kitchen was not well stocked, there were very few utensils and we had to buy things like dishwasher soap, salt etc which is usually provided in other places so we were then carrying that extra stuff with us unnecessarily. A lot of steep steps and noisy street at night.
The manager was very nice and helpful. The rooms were beautiful, warm and comfortable. The manager was around most of the day, we were able to store luggage early on our check in day and late on our departure day. It was quiet and in a very nice neighborhood.
There were three beds but only two blankets. It was a little hard to get a hard of the manager to arrange a check in time - once we did it worked out great.
Perfect location right in the city centre. About a 15-20 minute walk to the station (25 if your stuck behind a tour group). Great restaurants and bars literally on your doorstep, plus a theatre too. The apartment was well beautifully decorated in a traditional style, with all the facilities we needed. Wifi was fast enough.
As the apartment is centrally located it is quite loud at night time. Especially so at the weekend when it was even louder and even later. The apartment could do with providing guests some complimentary ear plugs. That said, we still had a decent nights sleep, but we would bring ear plugs next time.
The photos is a complete lie. The apartment does not look like that AT all. The only true representative is the patio... The bedding is old dirty blankets. The apartment is not clean and the shower does not work.
The seclusion. Plenty of room. Close to most stuff. Being able to go to the markets and then cook for ourselves. We were met at the door when our taxi pulled up.
No kettle in the kitchen. Our host forgot to bring us some tourist maps of the area.(but we got around OK) it would have been nice to have someone point out where the nearest supermarket was.
The first impression of this apartment was "wow", and that remained our view. Striking decoration of an expansive room. Superb bathroom, lovely kitchen, with china and cutlery in proper sets, a microwave, hob fridge and a kettle. Comfortable bed on a mezzanine accessed by a standard spiral staircase; bathroom off the bedroom. Effective air conditioning. Nice welcome. The apartment is within easy walking distance of the centre of Florence along traffic free (in Italian terms) streets. Lots of local colour around. Good supermarkets close by, good provisions immediately outside.
The only disadvantage is that you will have to walk past the Post Office building - the worst designed building, perhaps in all of Italy! But it's not too close, and you'll soon get back to the real quality!
You can park your car close to the appartments, during the weekend it's free. Walking distance to the center. Nice appartments in Florentine style equiped with all you can need. Small but very cosy rooftop.
The payment was blocked for 3 times.
Huge newly renovated apartment in a historical building facing a small piazza. The quality of the renovation was top notch. Farmers market nearby. Reasonable walk to city center. Great friendly staff. Overall, a great experience. Would stay there again.
It turned out that Florence has major parking constraints and street parking is limited to residents. Garage parking can run you 50-60 Euro for a day. We finally figured out where to park through trial and error and feedback from the staff. I recommend researching it ahead of time.
Great location. Away from main tourist area but within walking distance of everything.
Noisy at night as on piazza with eateries below.
Location is excellent.
Appartment is old, but clean.
Great location. Plenty of room for a couple. Quirky mezzanine bedroom. New bathroom. Good value. Good wifi. Air conditioning.
The piazza outside our window was a meeting place for people to drink and they were a bit noisy till about midnight.
For a few days, we were able to pretend we belonged, in our own apartment, buying a few groceries, stopping home for lunch... The facilities were just fine, very comfortable. The apartment was very, very clean. The host, though only there for check-in (it's an apartment, not a B&B,) was available by note, or cell in case of emergency. The location was really perfect for sight-seeing and the price quite reasonable, compared with other destinations on our trip! Luka met us when we arrived and carried our bags up all the stairs (gentleman!). He was very kind.
We had a little trouble finding it - directions on the website or email could be better. Even the pubs around it didn't know about the apartment - Luka should chat up his neighbours! The red and black numbering system threw us off, too. We had a SUPER-noisy neighbour who played incredibly loud music the first two nights - we had thought at first that it was noise from the piazza below, but it wasn't. Still, they didn't play it that late, and we were so tired I don't think they could have kept us awake anyway. The kitchen facilities are a little sparse. But when I saw there was no spatula, Luka said he would reimburse me for one (I said I might buy one; he didn't suggest it!). I didn't, because there is also no frying pan, lol. I gather most people visiting don't cook there. I scrambled eggs in the pot and they were great.
Great location, great room. Excellent hot water for bathing.
No cleaning supplies or towels for washing dishes
Location was good for walking straight into Florence for sight seeing. Italian style character in the apartment even having a ceiling fresco.
Staff were a little unfriendly on the phone. Car parking was available underground but this was not properly explained and so we parked in an area that was fine at the weekend but got towed away on Monday morning - it was only then that the agent explained that the car parking was underground. This issue cost me 110 euros to pick the car up and due to the towing damage by the towers herzt charged me 600 euros excess in the hire car ! A proper explanation on the underground parking could have saved all that. We stayed 2 nights and the apartment we had was adjacent to the square which was very noisy in July summer - both nights noise kept us awake up until 2am. I normally specify a quiet room so this was disappointing . The apartment had No apparent emergency exits.
The lady that checks you in is very friendly and very helpful.
I didn't like the steep curved stairway up to the bedroom.
The location was optimal, the staff was friendly and the Wi-Fi access was good.
We were in the apartment which is the first door, passed the frontal door, on the right side. There was neither light nor air in the room, I don't recommend opening the windows because unbearable smells fill the room right after it. Due to the thinness of the walls, the late night arriving guests' voices don't let you sleep. Another is that there isn't much space where you can leave your car.
The apartment is nicely equipped.
The apartment is located at a place which is incredibly loud. It wasn't possible to sleep here at all, at around 5am in the morning the situation relaxed a bit. A large crowd of locals celebrate parties at the 'plaza' in front of the apartment. It seems that this happens on a regular basis, it wasn't just a unique event. Locals opposite of our apartment have rolled out a large flag saying 'Silenzio por favore!' ("Silence please"). The owner was extremely unfriendly when we pointed to the fact that his apartments are incredibly loud. ('This is not my business, it's your problem my friend!'). Actually I haven't seen that since I am travelling. It's so much lower than any standard I have ever seen across EU or the U.S. Also: WLAN was not working at all. TV neither. Sorry, but this apartment is the worst I have ever been, and I was travelling around the globe including over 65 countries.
The location of the apartment was very good - walking distance from the center of Florence. The apartment was clean and comfortable. We would definately stay there again.
Location, cleaning and the room.
Near a very noisy square during the night. Windows without mosquito nets and there are a lot of them near the Arno.
