This is an excellent hotel in the middle of everything. You can walk to whatever. Friendly staff and excellent service through the whole stay. Charming room!
The hospitality of all the staff was outstanding. From the desk to the breakfast room to the people caring for the rooms, staff was unfailingly cheerful, friendly, and helpful. Unexpected extras were regularly offered.
Room was a little small, but that is what we had requested. After seeing the location, I think it would have been worth it to spring for a room with a view, since the ocean is right there.
The hotel is superb, stylish impeccable decor and furnishings. They serve gorgeous breakfasts with huge choice. The staff were most helpful, providing timetables, getting taxis and recommending places to visit; they were always smiling and courteous.
Great breakfast. Also loved the fact that there was always different drinks available 24/7 for free. Beautiful building and decoration. Great staff.
Fit out of hotel, staff, location, breakfast, complimentary drinks
lack of sleep as a result of continued building works
Design, staff, breakfast, cleanliness. Staff very hospitable and helpful.
Lack of outside space, quiet places to sit other than bedroom.
Great hotel, had sea view room with very comfy 4 poster bed. Loved the free mini bar and the teas, coffee, wine and snacks in the restaurant.
I guess it would have been nice to have an outdoor seating area.
We had asked for and got sea view room 104 which was excellent, though we were charged quite an extra sum for that. Restaurant staff was polite, efficient and all smile. Breakfast excellent, sumptuous.
1. We had asked for taxi at Pozzallo where we were coming by catamaran from Malta. We were told taxi would cost Euro 60, but when we reached the hotel we were asked to pay Euro 30 extra as waiting charge. The reason given was that the taxi driver had reached ferry station an hour and half early and gas waited there, though we had clearly said that the catamaran departed from Valetta, Malta, at 06:30 hrs. To reach Pozzallo in 90 minutes. Why was the tax sent so much ahead if time and how do we ascertain he really waited an hour and half there. The entire affair left a very bad impression. 2. Asked fir an iron and ironing board in the room but were refused on the argument that thus was against the hotel security rules.
Absolute gem of a hotel that has everything you could want: impeccable and amazingly friendly service, perfect location, great design and comfort, excellent food etc etc... cant say enough positive things about Algila Ortigia
The breakfast was superb.
They are renovating the next door property as an addition to hotel. we were not informed of this and did not like our room overlooking the builders. we paid extra to have the junior suite but if you cannot do this it would spoil your stay.
Great location to spend two days and two nights on our honeymoon! Highly recommended. The service was excellent, from parking our car. To carrying our suitcases. Free mini bar each day and free afternoon buffet. All excellent touches. A free bottle of wine on arrival was really a nice touch
Breakfast provided and of high standard. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Spacious well equipped rooms. Location is good; out on one side of the island so reasonably quiet, short walk to centre. One of our favourite hotels during our tour around Sicily.
Wifi coverage was a little weak. Hotel restaurant wasn't always open (but apparently very good)
Great location, nice building, all space efficiently used. Very nice variety for breakfast. Excellent sleeping conditions, no noise from the street just in front of the hotel. Highly professional staff - best of the best, of course, Marcello, to whom we thank again and again. Very good recommendations given by all staff (directions, restaurants). Location of the hotel is very close to very good restaurants and the Piazza near the Apollo temple. No problem with the parking, as the hotel staff is already available to help you and finds solutions. We had an pampering type of stay and would recommend it anytime.
To be fair, all in all, while there is nothing not to like at this hotel and the staff, it seams a bit pricey...but if you look for top notch stay in Ortigia, this is the price to pay:)
Such a stunning, well presented hotel, in the lovely area of Ortigia, right by the sea. Convenient parking close to the Hotel and within minutes walk to all restaurants and quaint streets and shops. From the moment we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted, the staff couldn't be nicer. Our bedroom smelt of a subtle luxurious scent as we walked through the door, to find charming, exquisite furniture and crisp bedlinen. The luxurious toiletries in the bathroom added to the charm of this fine Hotel. We enjoyed the most delicious breakfasts each morning which has been the best breakfast experience we have ever had of fresh fruits, breads and cooked foods, all cooked to order. Another lovely treat at this Hotel was the complimentary drinks and snacks, available throughout the day, and of which we enjoyed a glass of lovely cooled wine as we relaxed before our evening meal. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Algila Ortigia Charme Hotel, and I would recommend this Hotel to anyone travelling solo, as a couple, friends, or a family like ourselves. Each member of staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable, and I would have to say that Magdalena in particular, was exceptional with her assistance and offers of advice for the areas of interest and restaurants to visit. I look forward to returning to this very special gem of a Hotel very soon.
Absolutely nothing disappointed me.
Service and staff fantastic Breakfast and snack bar all day was wonderful. Free wifi and international calls!
We reserved a suite, the living space was an uncomfortable lounge in dark room - it was never used and wished we had not paid the extra for it. Also, the room was billed as a sea view room with a balcony. There was no balcony just a ledge instead. The view of the sea was across the street, a parking lot and a walkway. Still a view but not even close to what was depicted on the web site.
The public spaces of Algila were nice and the staff was very nice and helpful
The rooms need some work. The bed was very hard and the linens and towels were not high quality. They also perfume the rooms and the smell is overwhelming
It is a lovely looking building and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was attractively furnished; bed linen fresh and crisp
A lot of street noise.
Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Good valet service. Best breakfast selection we have had for a long time. Superb location. Nicely appointed room.
A beautiful, contemporary conversion in this delightful city that until 30 years ago was apparently a no go zone. This hotel does exactly what it says on it's description. We had an effortless, relaxed stay thanks in part to the extremely helpful guy on reception (sorry can't remember his name). Our room was cool and comfortable with a small balcony looking over the water. Thanks for the huge array of gluten free products at breakfast. Highly recommended.
what a great staff everyone helpful especially Christina who went out of her way twice to vitally help us we wish her happiness with her upcoming wedding and she is welcome to visit us in california if her honey moon plans take them here and the breakfast was great - menu plus buffet - never ever had that in b and b the menu was exquisite especially my wife loved them pistachios over fresh ricotta great location too and quiet from room with nice balcony and well appoined mike and marilyn
The views and location.
No seating areas outside.
Enjoyed everything except the wi-fi was problematic at times. Very helpful staff.
w -fi was not working all the time
The location and the staff. Especially Marcello, Christina, and Arianna
Restaurant not great and not enough places to relax and enjoy the environment outside the room
I found this hotel to be a good choice for my 2 night stay in Syracuse. The hotel is aesthetically appealing. The room was nice with a view of the sea, and the beamed ceiling with it's faux paint finish was impressive. I thought that pricing was fair al in all. I didn't get a sense that Ortigia island offers high standard hospitality in general, so I went along with that and felt this hotel was about as good as it gets on Ortigia.
The shower in our room needs to be renewed,. There wasn't a closet so instead a small armoire which I thought was cheap looking, thus not up to snuff with many of the beautiful furniture pieces and artifacts found throughout.
