We stayed in the Alla Corte Rossa for three nights in April 2011. I've never met such a nice and helpful hotel owner in my life. We had never been to Venice before and knew very little about the city. The owner of the hotel immediately took out our map and suggested how we might best spend our few days there. This was brilliant as I think we may have wasted lots of time otherwise. Thanks a million for that. The location is superb. It's on a really quiet canal but only two mins walk to a really lively square, Piazzo Margarita, this was the most lively place we found in Venice on our stay, lots of restaurants and bars. Also the hotel less than ten mins walk from the train station and about 20mins from st Mark's Square. Good location. We stayed on the third floor. The room was nice and clean and the bathroom was fine, shower was lovely. The main issues we had with the Hotel was the awful breakfast. Breakfast is served in your room as they don't have a breakfast room. You'll find your breakfast already in the room when you arrive! It consists of a tray with packaged croissants, packaged biscuits and packaged toast! The staff do however serve coffee with bread and cheese in the morning at your room at your preferred time but after 8.30. The coffee was okay but everything else was pretty awful to be honest. Expect to have to feed yourself once you get out of the hotel. The air-conditioner in the room didn't really cool the air, it just blew it around so we found ourselves having to leave the windows open a lot which resulted in me getting 12 mosquito bites during the night!

Great hotel for those on a budget. We paid 470 Euros for 3 nights, and for Venice that is not bad at all. The location is PERFECT. It's 10 mins walk from the main bus station and 5 mins walk to one of the squares with bars and restaurants. It is very quiet outside the hotel, yet very close to the main areas. Couldn't ask for anything better in terms of location. The comfort and facilities factor is rated fair because there is only a very unpowerful fan in the room and no air conditioning. We asked for a stand alone fan but the owner did not have any to provide. We went in May so it wasn't even peak temperature... I definitely would not stay there in June, July or August... you will not be able to sleep! Overall would recommend.

Our room had a very nice view on the canal. Paolo (afternoon receptionist) was very helpful and have us good advices. We liked the hotel's location, it is in Dorsoduro, quiet and charming place, better than the crowded Rialto. You can walk to Piazzale Roma (bus station to the airport) in 10 minutes. It is also easy to go anywhere in Venice, by foot or by vaporetto. Breakfast is basic. Cable tv did not work very well. The bathroom is a bit noisy because of the air extractor. No wifi.

The location was excellent. It was near the Pizzale Roma so it was easy to walk to, but it was quick to get to a water bus stop or about a 20 minute walk to the San Marco Square. The staff was also fabulous. They clearly love their city and had lots of recommendations. The breakfast was included but small...a few pieces of bread and some cheese. there's also no wifi and it's hard to find any in the city.

Alla Corte Rossa is situated in close proximity to the railway station (with straight forward directions), alongside a canal that is not very busy with boat traffic in a fairly quiet part of Venice, but still within easy reach of its main sights. We were given a great orientation by Paolo when we arrived and were able to explore Venice armed with a map provided by him and lots of advice. The room and bathroom were comfortable. Breakfast, served in the room at a specified time the day before, is basic but adequate by Italian standards.

I loved the staff, they were very helpful and kind and shown us the best places to visit during our stay. The room was big, clean and have a beautiful view to the canal, the breakfast served in the room was good, loved the chocolate!!! Good location near la Piazzale Roma. We have a very nice time there. Definitely good value for money. Only the stairs.

Everything was bad: breakfast was a joke (you can choose do you want to eat coffee or tea :) and bring only 2 slices of bread with 1 slice of cheese), they don't change towels, they don't tide the room, a/c worked not good, shower wasn't confortabile and etc etc etc. not recommended.

The owner is simply fantastic and know how to make you feel at home. Good location and quiet place. Nice view to a canal. The breakfast, although served in the room (very romantic), it could have fresh croissants and nice italian cheese.

We stayed for two nights on a break to Venice and it was beautiful. We were close enough to be hopping on a vaporetto in less than 10 minutes or, walk the other way and we were tucking into delicious late-night gelato and enjoying vino in the student area. The hotel itself faces onto a bustling little canal and is an easy walk from the train station or Piazzale Roma. Rooms are well furnished with an en suite bath and shower. You get a simple breakfast brought to your room in the morning and the keys so you come and go as you please. It's staffed from 8am until 8pm but the staff go out of their way to tell you great places to see and things to do. They also provide you with a map so don't bother shelling out on expensive ones at the airport! Lovely. Would recommend it to anyone.

“The room was spotless. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. The location was ideal as off the main tourist route but still only a few minutes from St Marks making it a quiet refuge in Venice. The neighbourhood was quiet but there were several places to eat within a 10 minute walk. I would have no hesitation recommending the hotel to friends and colleagues.” Ian, Bath |
