I liked the owner very much and the people of the house in general. The location is perfect, but...
The room had not a nice view from our window.
Very friendly and helpful staff (both gentlemen at reception). Location suited my purposes very well. Quiet hotel and location.
Room was dark - lights not bright enough. Bathroom and particularly the shower were very cramped. Had to ask for shampoo/shower gel to be replenished. Breakfast was too late - I had to be on location by 8.30am. This was when breakfast started to be served so had to miss it twice.
Great location and very helpful friendly staff
I'm horrified of spider and there were a number of daddy long legs on the ceiling by the reception. None in the room though thank god! Our "honeymoon suite" was very spacious but had no shower - only a bathtub.
Room was ok
- there's no lobby - I was shocked when I entered, reception is tiny. - breakfast was horrible - personnel hardly speaks english and is not very friendly.
I was there for only one night but it was a great night and the hotel is so nice and you can feel the Italian style in this hotel and the location is great and so easy to find you can put Alla Corta Rossa on the GPS and its so close from the train station
Small room and smaller shower
not far from the sights of Venice and the train and bus stations Paulo passing on his knowledge was very useful
the stairs were quite steep
Beautiful ceilling ! Quiet.
No dining room, foyer... Just your room. Simple lodging with extremely basic breakfast, for a 3 - 4 star hotel price.
Near the train station, relatively quite place a way from tourist crowd , there is near by supermarket which you can buy things to eat with reasonable price
If you don't mind to carry your bags for 4 of Venice stairs then the narrow stairs of the hotel choice this old building They did annouide me with city tax which I usually pay by leave they wanted it once I chicked in!!!! Breakfast was very poor choices Bathroom along with its stuff smells bad
Room since Location Price
Expired beer Breakfast from plastic bag Dusted room Dirty bath Unfriendly staff complaining about tourists
Not touristy. Very authentic Venice, but close enough to walk to every where. Fairly big rooms and gorgeous windows.
Hand held shower (no where to place it) Very thin steep stair case (which was very quaint and fine if you dont have much luggage.
Helpful staff Good location Clean and spacious room
Loved the room and service
The hotel is very nicely situated in a nice quiet neighborhood while located for easy strolls to Piazza San Marco, Accademia, Peggy Guggenheim, Rialto Bridge etc. It is a short walk and for Venice and easy walk from P. d Roma and hence bus, train, and vaporetti to destinations within Venice and the lagoon islands. We found exploring the Dorsoduro area of Venice a treat, including numerous waterfront restaurants and the lively Piazza Margherita. The two men who run the hotel are very knowledgeable and eager to share suggestions.
Breakfast in the room is a bit claustrophobic.
Owner was charming, very helpful and keen to advise on where to go etc.
Breakfast was very poor and served in the room.
Not too far from train/bus station (only 5-6 bridges to schlepp luggage over!
Really excellent location.
Great location. Around the corner from a great area with food and bars. Loved to view o the canals.
It's old. But that's Venice!
The character and cleanliness of the hotel located in a very quiet area, and being the first time in Venice, we really appreciated the hospitality of Paulo sharing his knowledge of the city and recommendations of places and "eateries" to visit, like having a personal guide! Thank you Paulo!
Having to haul bags to third floor!
Hard to find. No signage.
If the younger of the two main staff members is more enthusiastic to help the visitors during the stay it would be 5 stars. Otherwise the older very nice manager keeps the rating very high.
The owner was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable, the room was a fair size and the bed exceptionally comfortable. After the initial difficulty, there is no lift, getting our bags to the third floor (fourth for our American cousins) it was just right for us and we would definitely go there again.
The maid service was variable - for some reason toiletries were not replenished every day.
Info and helpfulness of the owner. He told us lots of places to go to. Volunteered all sorts of fantastic suggestions for restaurants, places to see etc. We saw much more than we would have seen otherwise. He was was like a great individual tour guide!!
Very hard to find. We were lucky to meet a local who accompanied to the hotel as we had been looking for some time.
Best location in Venice, away from the hoards of tourists. Affordable, clean and the wonderful owner is so passionate about his city and its history.
