Hotel Alle GuglieRio Terà S. Leonardo 1523, Cannaregio, 30121 Venice (Show map) Good, Score from 420 reviews“Friendly staff, they even packed our breakfast when we said that we are going to Rome by early train”
Vivek,
Dubai
Hotel Alle Guglie offers elegant accommodations in a renovated historic building next to Ponte Alle Guglie. Santa Lucia Train Station is within easy reach. Set in a very typical area filled with open-air markets and shops, Hotel Alle Guglie is only a 10-minute walk away from Rialto Bridge and St. Mark’s Square. Piazzale Roma, the main arrival point of Venice, is just as close. Rooms are decorated in classic Venetian style and offer views of the rooftops, the street, or the bridge. Hotel Rooms: 19

The Hotel Alle Guglie is in a perfect spot (the Cannaregio district is a bit more local but with easy access to the tourist areas). The rooms are smallish but beautifully decorated with a modern bathroom and balcony overlooking the street if you are lucky. The reception is open 24 hours so you’re free to come and go as you please. There is a local fruit and veg market right outside during the day (great choice of fresh fruit) and plenty of good cafe bars and restaurants. The local food generally is good but not worth paying over the odds for so shop around and go for the 'tourist menu' where available - usually much better value for money. If you come via Marco Polo Airport get the Alilaguna Water Bus (5 min walk from the airport to the marina) to the Guglie stop which is a minute walk to the hotel – about 23 euro return. You can get a 2 day ticket for the Vaporetto for about 26 euro which will get you anywhere in Venice albeit at a leisurely pace. We stayed for 4 days in mid April and the weather was perfect (20ish degrees). Apart from sightseeing around Venice (which is beautiful and very unique) we spent many an hour with glass of vino in hand watching the world go by – very civilized !! The only downside to the hotel was the breakfast. There was cereal, croissant, toast etc., typical continental style, just not to our taste. Not usually big breakfast eaters but something hot would have been nice.

The Hotel Alle Guglie is a great small surprise in Venice. The location is in Cannaregio, not more than five minutes, walking distance, from the Central Station Santa Lucia even if you’re traveling with luggage like us. The owner (or manager) is very friendly as the whole staff of the hotel and service personnel. We have 3 rooms, 2 in the front and one in the back. All of them look like the photos they show on the site so you won’t be disappointed. The small details make each one unique (chandeliers, bath, and room decoration). Each room have a minibar (so you can stock some beers and a small safety deposit box for passports or net book. By the way, the one in the back have the best reception for the free wi fi. The breakfast is served on the third floor and I have to say that is very good (coffee, hot chocolate, cereals, toasts, yogurt, cheese, fruit juices, honey, marmalade, nutella and a salty canned meat). The ratio between price and quality is excellent. It’s hard to find an offer like that travelling on a budget like us ( trust me, we visited Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan).

Only a 5min walk from the train station. The rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. Excellent shutters on the windows so you could get a good nights rest. Breakfast was included and was really quite a nice spread! Free wifi is always a plus! The staff were friendly and helpful with whatever questions we had. I would highly recommend this hotel as it was very good value for money. Try to request a room that doesn't face the street, as the market vendors who operate outside the hotel were very noisy from about 6am onward.

Very near the train station, only 10 minutes walking distance. The internet inour room was strong and reliable. Internet is important to us because we do our hotel and train booking thru it. And while travelling we need to be still in contact with our family and office. The hotel although small and have to climb stairs is clean and staff are accommodating and courteous. The place is on the market and shopping area. We did enjoy our stay. Climbing the stairs with heavy luggage is uncomfortable especially to old people.

Chiose this hotel for its location in Cannaregio, an area wehere Venetians still live and work. Lots of shops and restaurants that do not cater only to tourists. Plus it is near to station, so can can drop off your suitcase and go out... Staff are friendly, rooms have everything you need and the breakfast is generous by Italian standards. Only quibble would be for noise sensitive travellers to ask for a room at the back as it is on the main strip to Rialto, so not quiet. Otherwise would definitely stay here again.

Great location just 5 mins from train station, near lots of restaurants and shops for shopping, not too far from St. Mark's Square (about 20 mins walk), near to vaporetto stop, good breakfast, friendly staff and most importantly, secure! The door to the hotel rooms had an automatically- locked door which could only be opened by the receptionist. Excellent service by hotel - they packed our breakfast for us when we needed to catch an early train! No lift and wifi reception from our room was weak.

The location is fine, you can reach everything by foot. The staff is very friendly. Reception 24 hours open. - Poor breakfast. Not what you expect for the room rates. - For tall people it's not comfortable: bathroom is like approximately 195-200 cm high.

The breakfast staff were friendly The family room was at top in roof, the ceiling was so low my husband kept hitting his head. The room was so small it was claustrophobic. Would not recommend for a family the sheer flight of stairs that you need to get your bags up would send you running

Very friendly staff, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The location is very easy to find in Venice and good public transport connections both for arriving in the city and travelling around. The room was rather small and the bed really too soft, dipping in the middle. The hotel is on a main street and our room at the front was noisy early in the morning as a street market was setting up.

It as very nice, location was fantastic, but we were lucky to have a quit room on level 3, staff very friendly and helpful. The shower was way too small, no lifts which was painful due to luggage. We had to hand the keys every time we left the hotel which was annoying, they should invest in spare keys. Breakfast was below average. Free internet was extermely slow and unrealiable.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Very convenient location, a short walk from the station and on a really nice street with lots of good shops, cafes, restaurants and a Market. We had a deluxe room and it was a good size for Venice and even had a bath which was a real bonus. The hotel had free wifi but it was so slow as to be unusable from our room. It was possible to access it from a small lobby on the landing. Our room overlooked the Market which did mean being woken up at around 6.15, but this didn't really bother us as it was a nice room and the location had so much else going for it.

Lovely room in dark old fashioned Italian style meant you felt you were going back in time. Lovley view out of the window of houses opposite and washing lines, real Italian feel to it. Very quiet although on busy street. Friendly lady serving the breakfast, very busy dining room.excellent position for sight seeing from, easy access to the boats and walking distance from the station.

Breakfast was reasonable. Staff nice. The shower cabin was very small, like 70x70. There was a part of the room with wallpaper but no wall (about 30 cm wide). No lift. If you stay on the 2 last floors there are a lot of stairs to go up. Walls aren't thick enough, you can hear everything from other rooms.

“The hotel/building is 400 years old. The location is brilliant, on the canal not far from St Marks Square. Staff very helpful.” Steve, Carrara Gold Coast |
