Position of Hotel is excellent - very easy to get to from the only parking area in Venice - important when you have suitcases... Then, it is fabulous for access to the rest of Venice afterwards! Beautiful building too.... Bed and cushions were very hard

Hotel Al Sole was perfect. The walk to the hotel from Piazzale Roma was under five minutes just having to cross two bridges. Located in a very peaceful part of Venice with all the amenities you need close by. It is one of the most picturesque buildings in the area and the canal, which it overlooks, is calm with not many boats. There are however two gondolas just outside the hotel. The foyer has exposed beams, polished tiled floors and beautiful antique furniture. We were greeted by very attentive staff who spoke excellent English and ensured we were well equipped to explore Venice. They had a complimentary water taxi to Murano every morning at 10am – provided that there was a minimum of four willing guests - to visit the glass factory. We were upgraded to Room 105 with a canal view. The room was massive, as was the bed and the bathroom. We were elated!!!! The room had a king size bed and was decorated in a contemporary Venetian style. But the highlight had to be the view. The French doors lead to a small balcony which overlooked the canal and street below. Breakfast was severed in their beautiful outdoor garden with vines overhead. The continental breakfast was lots with three different types of croissants, bread rolls, cereals, yoghurts, a selection of cheeses, deli meats and boiled eggs. There was also filtered coffee and juices but my fav had to be the automated drinks machine which served everything from cappuccino to mocha. There was a small pub next to the hotel and also a restaurant close by. The walk to Rialto Bridge and San Marco is about a 45 minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Hotel Al Sole and will definitely return to this true gem in Venice. Unfortunately no English channels on the television but while in Venice this was not our priority.

Lovely hotel and location. Friendly, helpful staff, excellent breakfast in leafy courtyard. Locality not too touristy, but plenty of good restaurants and shops nearby. Only a shirt walk from Pizzale Roma coach station and waterbuses at P.Roma and S. Toma. Our room overlooked the canal and street below, ideal for watching the world go by, including the singing gondoliers. Last but not least there is an excellent little bar right next door.

Beautiful historic building conveniently placed for both sightseeing, buses and station. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff. Good buffet breakfasts in pleasant diningroom. Our room was adequate, though in need of redecoration. On previous stays we had larger and better rooms. Rooms seem to vary considerably for the same price.

Great location, clean and comfortable, attentive staff, good breakfast and selection (",) Disappointed with lack of tea, coffee facility's in room, although I'm unsure if that's the norm for Venice hotels, I think that describing the room as " garden view" is very misleading as it is more of an ivy covered netting over the courtyard, all in all garden view, very disappointing !!!! This may be a little picky, but although digital tv in room, all channels in Italian,

Hotel is situated near Piazzale Roma and next to the railway station Santa Lucia. The hotel was very nice decorated, the room was big. The room could have a bit more light because the window in our room was very tiny. The garden view was actually just a view on the rooftop of the garden and on other buildings. Also it was very noisy in the room when somebody was crossing the corridor, it was heard everything they were speaking. The hotel is very expensive but for prices in Venice it is normal...

Ideally located in Venice being easy walking distance from Piazzala Roma where the airport buses arrive. The hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. The continental breakfast was good and it was pleasant to eat breakfast in the garden courtyard area of the hotel. We had a superior room which had a view of the canal at the front of the hotel and a small balcony - one of only two. This was lovely, although it did mean some noise from passing pedestrians late at night and when goods were being loaded/unloaded onto a boat outside the hotel. However, it was worth the slight disturbance to have that view. Although we had a superior room and it was more than adequate the bathroom was quite small and cramped. There was a shower over the bath but the shape of the ceiling over the bath meant that there was little head room to stand under the shower unless you were extremely short.

Once you get used to the confusing layout of Venice, this hotel is in a good location to move around. It is also on a quiet stretch of road, so you have the services (shopping and eating) but not the mass of tourists back near the River and train area. The hotel is a nice size. We enjoyed the breakfast area in the open court out back. Our room was nice - definately a european room by simplicity but we knew that when we booked. The beds are comfortable, important after a long day of walking. We only had two concerns: you can get to the airport for 5 e by luxury bus only a block away (atvo). Don't go by water taxi as it's 110 e and the hotel does push this. There are also taxis in the bus area in the morning, far less than a water taxi. Wi-fi is not free here and should be. All of our hotels in Italy with the exception of Al Sole had free wi-fi.

Staff were all very pleasant and efficicient and our room was spacious and kept very clean. Excellent choice at breakfast and they even provided gluten-free cake and biscuits for me as I am coeliac. The hotel was in a lovely converted palace by the side of the canal, very handy for the centre and within easy walking distance of the bus station. Would definitely stay there again.

It was located in one of the oldest districts in Venice. 5 mints from the piazzale del Roma so easy to take vaperato number 1&2 to hop on hop off easily and view the beauty of Venice and the canals. Also the staff were helpful regarding any info we needed and thy recommended the cravatte rest to eat and it was amazing little place, fab food decent pricing. All in all, hotel was very good and we will definitely visit again in the future. Next stay we will ask for a garden view nit a canal view to avoid the noises at night from tourists passing by.

The Al Sole was in the perfect location for our cruise. Very close to the ship terminal people mover and bus from airport (same square). The hotel is older, however, bathrooms were renovated not too long ago and the most important to me is that the hotel was clean. Service was good also. It was a bit of a walk to St. Mark's Square, but more than fine for anything else. Breakfast was more than acceptable and actually pretty good. We had an enormous room. Carpet in our room rather than the tile we saw in photos and what we thought we would have.

Friendly and helpful staff. Reception organised a courtesy water taxi to Murano (they will arrange one daily at 10am if a min of 4 guests wish to go). Great location to get to Piazzale Roma easily and to Campo de San Margarita for good food and bars. Classic double room was bigger than expected.
