Hotel Al Sole  

I liked the the friendly, efficient and very helpful staff. The room was spacious and bright, the beds extremely comfortable and everything spotlessly clean. The location was excellent - several minutes walk from the Bus Station but in a pretty corner of Venice, within easy walking of the main attractions.

No proper signboard of hotel. The main reception smells musty.

Location within the island and Piazza Roma.

The building itself in very Venice-styled. It feels nice to live there, you become a part of real Venice life. The staff was very helpful at all times. The matress and pillows were wonderful! Never slept better. And the location is great: just 4 min walk from P-le Roma, so you don't have to take a taxi or drag around the city with your luggage, as soon as you arrive.

The shower was so small, you could hardly move there. But this is a minor thing.

Nothing we can think of

Location, Location, Location ! Very close to Piazzale Roma which was ideal since we drove to Venice, easy to find and also short walks to all the attractions. Being in Santa Croce it was far enough away from the maddening crowds found in San Marco to make it a very pleasant stay. The hotel itself was also very Venice with it's Venetian Arches, inner court yard for breakfast and being located right on a canal.

The shower. It was mounted on the side wall and thus sprayed water out onto the bath room floor. A simple hook / holding devise for the shower spray nozzle on the end wall would keep the water in the shower stall and thus correct this issue.

Very good location for Venice hotel.

Internet WiFi is a supplement. This is outdated in this time. Looks very cheap for a 3 stars hotel! Same for the tv , all channels were in Italian language. Could not get one News channel in English.

Quiet location near train station away from the crowds. Triple room was spacious and beautifully appointed. Staff were lovely and really helpful. Wonderful stay.

Location of hotel is a few minutes walk from bus/train station.Just far enough from bustle of Venice entry points and away from main tourist 'hot spots'. Our balcony overlooked canal with great views all ways. Interior of hotel has been restored beautifully - traditional Venetian with efficient air - con. Excellent breakfast in lovely shaded courtyard. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, in fact I can't think of any negatives with this hotel.

The hotel has a great location close to the train station and bus terminal. The hotel is a former palazzo and the room that we had was excellent - spacious, well appointed and a view across the canal. The hotel staff were efficient and helpful. There are many restaurants in the area. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Al Sole.

My daughter and her husband went there as a treat from me. She said the hotel was delightful - lovely breakfast, beatifully placed beside the canal with a gondola nearby. Quiet also - so no hustle and bustle of tourists. All in all she said it was a wonderful hotel. and as I paid the bill - it was one of the most reasonably priced. Also near coach terminal for airport Treviso.

The location of the hotel is fantastic as it is around 10 mins walk from pizzale roma bus station...we checked in the hotel around 11pm and we were able to find the hotel without any issues...the staff were helpful and the hotel is ohk for the price...the breakfast was ohk and the service ohk as well....

There is no Wifi or fixed line internet included in the hotel price which I think is a shame...i wasnt able to do online checkin for my flight as they asked me to purchase a €5 internet card for 5 mins browsing...the breakfast was pretty bland...no choice at all...the fruits they had there were a bit old especially the bananas...the hotel doesnt have a board in front...so had to go the reception and confirm that it is Al-Sole when I checked in at 11pm...the rooms were a bit on the small size...I booked the hotel based on the ratings and I'm a bit disappointed...its a good hotel but there are better hotels out there for the price paid...

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Outdoor area to eat breakfast was very nice (although in need of new tables and chairs) Room size was ok. Breakfast was good.

Bathroom was disfunctional - bidet too close to sink (it is behind you when you are at the sink so you could trip over it if you backed up) hand held shower head was mounted so low that water went everywhere as the little mini glass divider is not enough to keep water in. Wooden window frame in tub area black with mildew from disfunctional shower head) Steps leading into suite and into bathroom are dangerous as you are on them as soon as you open the door.

Pleasant atmosphere, very helpful at the desk. We enjoyed being right on the canal, easy to find bars and restaurants, good situation.

The only disappointment, not hugely disappointing, was breakfast ....... fiddly, no assistance. Also, no availability for a cup of tea or drink in the afternoon after walking all over the city.

We found the hotel in a perfect location..we had room 105 with a balcony at the front, watching the world go by was very special. The breakfast was your typical continental. It was abit out of the way but very close to a vapourette stop at piazalle roma. It took a good 20 mins to walk to st. Marks but was through winding streets which was lovely. If we wanted to stay in this area again we would not hesitate to book here. There were good bars and restaurants within afew mins walking distance.

Breakfast could slightly improve with more choice and make the coffee more drinkable

The staff were very helpful and the service was excellent which made it a pleasure to stay. We would return their if we go back to Venice.

Uncomfortable room, unhelpful staff, absolutely terrible breakfasts. The outside of the hotel, and indeed the reception area look attractive, but the rooms are very disappointing. We stayed in what was sold to us as the best luxury room, but it was sparsely filled with cheap furniture (the wardrobe would not close as the paper thin doors were warped). One corner of the room had a small area partitioned off that served as a bathroom. We really felt like we were sleeping in our garage. To top it all off, the pillows were hard and lumpy. Generally I eat anything, but had to pass when it came to breakfast! What was on offer was stale, burnt, cheap and inedible. Probably the worst thing I have seen on a plate since my student days. We are used to camping and are not at all demanding, but we really expected better.
