Opened in 1308, the Albergo Cavalletto & Doge Orseolo is one of the oldest hotels in Venice. It is set right behind St. Mark's Square, and features elegant rooms and a private pier.
Score from 1470 reviews Good
The location was great, it was very clean and warm (winter) ,rooms had all the facilities you needed and staff were friendly.
Downstairs rooms suffered from noise from rooms above as people for some reason kept moving furniture around till almost midnight! Communal eating area very small and WiFi connection was not very good.
Good location halfway between Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. Not far from Vaporeto stop so easy to get to with your luggage. Nicely appointed, historic feel, on small side street. Very charming. Warm welcome. Good breakfast. Small (typical for Europe) but comfy room with nice bathroom. I would stay there again.
Good location for at marks square & central to grand canal
Rooms odd shape & very small, 2 off our rooms were off the dining room & so created a huge noise from 7.30am every morning, staff were not the most welcoming. I wouldn't stay there again.
Staff (Ms. Claudia) is very friendly & accommodating... Wifi is better compare to other 3 starts hotels... Room is also nice with enough lightings...
Breakfast can be improve...
The hotel is comfortable, clean and beautiful, especially the furniture looks fine and the staff is welcoming. It's far just 250 metres from St. Mark's Square.
The hotel is placed on a small street which is quite difficult to find also with electronics maps, since the mobile connexion is low in Venice. It's quite expensive.
rural setting, great older home. Real sense of history
Location was excellent with easy access to all parts. Breakfast was excellent also. Easy walk from the Rialto Warf.
Room to small like all European motels. The hostess seemed grumpy and asking questions seemed intrusive upon her day.
once we landmarked the back street with shops, it was easy to find, a short distance from most highlights.
The communal facilities were very compact; also stairways, etc.... likely a common feature in Venice. Staff was very competent but reserved.
The location is fantastic, 5-10mins walk from the Rialto bridge and St Mark's Square, very quiet as well.
Staff was very polite and helpful. Room was very clean, beautiful and had good facilities. Location was great. It is 3 mins walk to Rialto port and bridge, 3 mins walk to San Marco Square. Breakfast was good.
Wi-Fi was a bit slow.
location, room and cleanliness
wifi was poor and breakfast was outside and not comfortable
Room was small with no view, very small breakfast area, felt cramped. Internet photos made it look more spacious than it was. Would not return.
very nice room though small nice bathroom nice location pretty clean nice breakfast
they charge for wifi
The rooms were fairly small. No tea/coffee making facilities. No elevators
Very central location between the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square. Very grateful for the detailed description of how to get to the hotel because Venice is a maze of little streets and stairs over canal.
Beware if you are not traveling with a strong male and have heavy suitcases as there are no lifts.
The location was great and the room was comfortable. I would definitely recommend the restaurant around the corner - Ai Mercanti.
The photos give the impression of a much bigger interior, but the breakfast room is quite cramped and that is the only open area. The bedroom was very dark.
location, lovely clean and comfortable room, nice breakfast good value and very helpful friendly staff
there was no one available even a gaurd after 4 pm. in case of emergency gueast are on mercy of God
Location, staff very helpful & friendly.
Breakfast room was very small, no lounge area where you could meet & relax. We were two couples travelling together & could not share a table at breakfast. Our room had a pillar near the end of the bed which allowed only 6 inches of space to squeeze by. Our bedroom had a door (locked & blocked off) which opened directly to the street.
Excellent location. Very friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Excellent directions to the premises given by e mail prior to the stay.
Hard work taking the luggage up the steep, narrow stairs to the top bedroom.
Location. Cleanliness. Quiet. Convenience. The staff was very helpful. Gave me information I couln't find on the internet. Bob, from New York City.
Lovely quiet location, minutes from San Marco Square and Rialto Bridge Receptionists were helpful and pleasant
Mosquitos few and small
the 3-star hotel provides excellent service
the look of the hotel leaves much to be desired
Like most of Venice, you need a good map however I had received email directions that were specific from the moment I left the water taxi. Clean. good location.
The stairs are narrow however manageable.
Bit hard to find, but a great little hotel in Central Venice, 5 minutes from the Rialto and piazza San Marco (take a map!). Quad room was a good size, especially in Venice. The room was clean, breakfast was good and the staff were helpful (although some spoke more English than others).
Could not find smoke alarms in the room?
