Antico Panada dates back to 1889. It is set in a historic building, 100 ft from Saint Mark's Square. The air conditioned rooms feature refined furniture, free Wi-Fi, and Murano lamps. The Panada overlooks Calle degli Specchieri, a street that leads directly to Basilica of San Marco without crossing any bridges. The nearest water-bus stop is Calle Vallaresso. The hotel's stylish interiors are decorated with white and red marble. Bar Ai Speci is an old Venetian inn. It is open until midnight and serves the traditional Spritz aperitif, a good cup of espresso, and international cocktails. Hotel Rooms: 48

Location very handy for sight seeing. Bed sheets had holes in them and wallpaper peeling off walls. No space for 2 suitcases without banging legs on them.

Excellent location, helpful staff, good breakfast (fantastic by Italian standards). Getting to our room (#451) was a long, long way through meandering corridors, three flights of stairs (two of which were not served by an elevator) and another building (!). After a day of walking through Venice from 10am to 6pm, this could get really tiresome for us sore- footed travellers. Next time I book there, I'll tell them I've got arthritis or something.

Helpful staff ; superb location yet quiet at night ; traditional venetian style ; good continental breakfast lift was broken so lots of stairs, but it was being repaired ; shutters but no glasson windows so to get day light you also got very fresh air in the bedrooms

Best location, though it's the main reason of high price. Indeed, early morning is the only time when there is no crowd in San Marco, so it's worth it. Also, all vaporetto routes are available in near San Zaccaria station, which is convenient. Breakfast is good, I spent there a week and didn't get bored. Room was ok, with Venetian-style furniture. Price is high, just as everywhere in Venice. If I wanted to save up, I would prefer something in Castello area, close to via Garribaldi. The meal is much cheaper there, and the hotels too.

The entrance appeared grand and majestic, as expected from previously viewing images of the facility. The hotel room was pretty disgusting: there was an old sock under the bed, and upon check-in to my room the lights were broken. Since the lights didn't work in my room, I was asked to sit on a chair and wait (for 20 minutes) until the porter returned. The wallpaper was peeling, and the shower was incapable of deciding whether or not to deliver arctic or boiling water, as some healthy medium was perpetually unreachable.

It was very convenient and the price was incredible. Breakfast was included so that's an extra bonus! I enjoyed my stay but it was cold at night. I didn't ask but would have liked access to another blanket and a pillow in the room closet.

The position was extremely convenient. The price was excellent. The staf were friendly and helpful always. The breakfast was served efficiently and was ample and made a good start to each day. The WiFi was without charge and there was a daily newspaper in the lounge in English, Germand and Italian. There were a few mosquitoes and that strange Venetian smell of drains sometimes permeated the lobby.

As central as can be. Just a few score steps from St Mark's Square, yet in a narrow street. Charming. Especially the upgraded room which was beyond 3* in feel. Staff is very helpful although once I felt the receptionist could have offered more options about what one can do / visit. The way to our room was a fascinating labyrinth up an elevator, up a ramp, down some stairs and up another elevator - all interspersed by stretches of meandering corridor. We were singularly unlucky. On our last night, we had a restless heavy-footed individual(s?) stomping about in the room above our heads.

Arrived to find the Friendliest reception staff ever.. Shown to our room just one floor up, overlooking the tiny street...walls of gold padded material , floors of thick carpet, air conditioning, super double glazing...two extra sofa beds that were upholstered to match the rest...rich damask & cord brocades... & the most amazing huge Murano glass chandelier ! round the corner to a dressing area with huge wardrobe & a free safe ( set your own code, etc) , then into the bathroom...Amazing!!! Twin sinks, huge mirror, full length bath, with tremendously powerful shower above, , wc & bidet, plus heated towels.. Heaven! The room was cleaned thoroughly each day, as was the bathroom...full mini bar fridge if you want it.. Breakfast was good continental... Cereals, milk, plain yoghurts, honey, jams ,fresh fruits,, etc, plus croissants, breads, toast etc. juice, then an abundance of fresh sliced cheese, salami, mortadella & thin shaved cooked ham. Have the tea.... Individual pots, just grab a little milk jug from under the cupboard, cos they don't seem to think you have milk with it... The service staff were matriarchal & jolly.... There's a lounge with English ( amongst others )newspapers, and a bar that seemed to open after we'd left each evening. Less than 1 minute walk from the side door of St marks, its amazing! We had no queues for any tourist sites, or anything all the stay... Go in January but keep warm! The room itself was toasty warm :o) Coffee was a let down, from a syrup type machine, but that was the only thing throughout the stay.

Right at the square. Upgraded our room (hot-tub with Jacuzzi). The rooms are clean with good facilities. The location of the hotel is around 50 meters from the center - perfect for a city trip. Wi-Fi was working. Strict implementation of check-in time; even though we saw many rooms to be empty. The breakfast was ordinary. The room given to us was not in the hotel premises but was around 100 meters from the hotel. Its a good trek upwards and thus people who have trouble walking beware!!!

Traveled in January - one of the best rates available. Truly great location (San Marco)!. The location can forgive all the other shortcomings. Also, I would say that the facilities were above par for a two star hotel. Internet worked fine in room and elsewhere. Carpets in the lobby stink, although after a day you will realize that this is not a deal breaker. Staff should have guided us better. In the off season, the hotel allied tours are not available, they didn't point us to the tourism office when asked. We had to find out ourselves that other tours were available. Noise is a problem in some of the rooms that face the road.

We were really impressed with the staff at check in and how they helped to our room and showed us all the features it offered. We plan to stay there again within the next couple of weeks. You could not be any closer to Saint Marcs Sq!! This was a great room at the perfect location and the room was more than we hoped for.

As a base for my sightseeing visit the location adjacent to St Marks square was perfect for access to transport on the canal and all the attractions. The accomodation was quiet and comfortable to return to after a tiring day out. The hotel lacks a restaurant but recomends an adjacent establishment which it also owns. This was however poor value for money with indifferent service.

Antico Panada is conveniently located in the San Marco area of Venice very near the square. Their breakfast is very good. The staff is friendly and the accommodations are clean and comfortable with lovely decor. It was a little bit of a trek from the lobby to our room and my wife thought the matress was a little too firm for her taste. This would not prevent us from staying there again though as it was nice and convenient overall.
