L'Approdo delle Sirene B&B  

First impression, wonderful location on the waterfront in Ortyga. We received a friendly welcome and most helpful advice regarding car parking (immediately outside hotel) and other local information, including restaurants, which all contributed to the relaxation and pleasure of our stay here. Room was comfortable and thoughtfully designed. Breakfast on the terrace was a particular delight - with an excellent choice of delicious dishes, many home made, to be enjoyed sitting at our table in the sunshine overlooking the aquamarine blue sea and view of the bay. Loved our time spent here and reluctant to leave.

The staff is most warm and friendly, our room had sea view and was spotless. Breakfasts were delicious and each day something new was served. The location enabled us to leave the car parked (free of charge) by the sea front for our entire stay and we got to place on foot. There was free wi-fi all day long, in the room. The room was freshly painted and bright. There was a kettle and tea in the room. We had two small balconies, air condition worked well when it got warm...

The room could have been a bit bigger for the price we paid, though it had all the amenities advertised.

An ideal, quiet location and - crucially - easy to get to by car and to park (note that the oneway road outside has switched directions since Google Maps last surveyed it, so you have to go one further block around). Very friendly and helpful owner and family/staff. The most generous breakfasts of our stay in Sicily - especially the homemade cakes and tarts.

The view of the rooftop dining area where we had breakfast every morning is stunning, I didn't expect we could enjoy this kind of seaside view with the price we paid at all! we just forgot about the bars and pubs in siracusa and went back to the rooftop after dinner, enjoying the sea breeze with glasses of wine there every night during our stay. And there are lots of choices for breakfast (coffee and fresh fruit, salami, ham, toast...) The interior design of the public area and rooms are very simple and modern, and of course very clean and comfortable. It even comes with a notebook which is already connected with wifi. And of course the staff is very nice and helpful.

Wonderful hotel, with very friendly staff and great value.

Only spoilt a little by a blocked shower and slight odour in the bathroom, which the hotel fixed as soon as I told them.

Little bit high price.

Excellent location and the terrace with view of the harbour was beautiful to sit in the morning while having breakfast. Also, the breakfast was excellent for this price range b&b, lovely varity of food etc. The free access to Internet with net book in the room was good although was very slow.

Check-in greeting wasn't the most welcoming. We got a breif introduction to the city with a map. No recommendations for resturants or where we would find them. Also we didn't find out until we were leaving that we had the use of bicycles for no extra charge. We would have liked a friendlier welcome and information to what the b&b had to offer. The room needed a little bit of updating. Although it was clean, it was starting to look a little tired. Shower was a little mouldy and the other cover in the bed looked like it needed to be freshened up. Also the air conditioning didn't seem to work properly.

This b&b was absolutely lovely and in a wonderful location, right off the bridge to Ortygia. The building is very secure, and there is an elevator to assist you with our luggage. The staff was very accomodating, and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. When we first arrived, we were offered a drink and a lovely fruit platter on the upper deck overlooking the harbor, so that we could relax from our trip--a very thoughtful start. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and provide everything that you need, including a fridge and safe. The shower was quite large--a luxury in European countries. We were provided with a map, and assistance in finding the best restaurants in the area. Breakfast, which is included, was fabulous with fresh fruit, pastries, local meats and cheeses, yogurt, cereal, coffee, and juices. For the price, I feel that this property is an excellent value, and would highly recommend it to travelers in this area.

There is not a lot of privacy, because the rooms are not well insulated, but we found this throughout Italy.

The position is simply enchanting and the Mermaids are charming and ready to help whatever issue you may have... Great "luxury" B&B!

The location of the b&b is excellent. The island of Ortygia is the most beautiful place and this b&b is situated in a great place for exploring the island, wlaking the narrow italian streets, walking around the marina and visiting restaurants/cafes etc
