눇Staying in a Trullo is in itself a very unique experience but to that add the outstanding hospitality of Isabella (owner manager) the whole experience is a few unbeatable notches higher. Isabella is the warmest soul you’ll meet. She is kind, thoughtful and has such a keen sense to make your stay with Aria Di Casa memorable. Going out of her way with personalized service is the norm I guess for her. She picked us up from the railway station, took us to the place, took time to take us through the trullo, had a map of the area ready for us and was there to answer our 50 questions about where to eat, what to buy, where to have wine, the history of the place etc etc. Before we reached, we were concerned about finding vegetarian food. But she organized lovely vegetarian breakfast for us both days in a cute little basket (fresh breads, cheese, juice, coffee) at the time we requested.
The region (Puglia) is quite known for its cooking classes and olive oil factories but they all are much further south in Leece or need you to be on a tour. Wanting to have both these experiences but not satisfying either of the 2 criteria, I requested Isabella (when I made the booking) if she could help us. And guess what…she invited us over to her home in the countryside for a cooking session with her grandma, mom and aunt. I have to say this was the highlight of our trip to Italy. Isa picked us up in the morning and took us to the fresh food market (every Thursday only) to help pick some cheese. (I actually digressed..wanted to buy shoes and she helped me with that) She then drove us to the country house where we cooked the most scrumptious and hearty meal you can dream of with her family (rosemary focaccia, tomato olive focaccia, calzone, aubergine parmesan, zuchiccini wraps, pasta, tiramisu). All this for 10.30am to 3pm..with lots of wine and ended the afternoon with a lunch with her whole family. Mom and aunt even packed some take away food for us!
