Wifi Cleanliness Friendly owner
Extra fee for the sheets Water pressure Location
the price is misleading. you have to pay extra money for the bed sheets.
The owner of the establishment moved me to another location that he owned, this was a fantastic location right between St Marks square and Rialto bridge very close to shops bars and coffee shops. It's part of a big old building so very traditional staff were very helpful and friendly although not much information about the city and what to go and see. But I would definitely go back again :-)
As I went over Christmas it got a bit cold at times.
Clean, decent location.
Arrived at 12 for check in, there was note on door saying call number if no one answered. I couldn't call because I'm a tourist of course; I don't have Italian SIM card. I convinced a shopkeeper to call for me, when they answered they said I had to stay at different location because the academy hostel was not open. What?!! How are you not open when travellers have booked and paid money months beforehand!! The whole thing was sketchy, I feel like I shouldn't even have paid, but I paid when I booked it, I had no choice in the matter. Ended up staying at a place called youth hostel, which was fine, they were taking all the bookings from the academy. The academy is a terrible hostel for doing this, they should be ashamed.
the place to check-in and the place to sleep are not the same place! You have to walk for 10 minutes to get from one place to another! Though accompanied by the staff, it's still weird.
Very clean, very cheap and very good wi-fi.
There is no signage anywhere and it is very very difficult to find (especially at night). Another frustration is that although it has full kitchen facilities you cannot use the toaster or stove.
The staff was really friendly and flexible.
It wasn't advertised anywhere online but guy have to pay in cash which took me and my friend completely off guard. It was inconvenient because we didn't know to plan for it.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
No gas to cook with.
It was very nice place, very clean, very quiet! Excellet location.
It's clean and calm. Large rooms! Very comfortable
I just don't understand why the sheets are not included in the price. We have to pay more for this.
Anna, the manageress has a great character, firm but fair and kind, good with people. Nice bathrooms. Good atmosphere. Quiet respected around bedtime. Clean sheets & towels for only 5 euros.
Toilets are in bathrooms: so hard to get in there just for the toilet! No cooking in the kitchen, but this is a decree from Venice city apparently. Extra bed added to 4 bedroom dorm. No keys for bedroom doors.
Location is great, near accademia bridge, guggenheim museum, st marcs piazza...Beds and rooms very clean.Wifi very good.Quiet.Very reasonable price to stay in a world landmark city.Dave from USA.
Although you reserve with credit card they demand cash once you check in.This is outrageous.I told them no, that they have to charge my card and if they want to they can argue with Visa who wont like that they are trying to avoid paying credit card fees. They were rude and sneaky about this. This arguing went on for 3days! So, every day i was anxious about the next battle. Not very pleasant.Who pays for vacation lodging in cash and why would you want to carry large sums of cash in the pickpocket capitol of the world? To be fair, most of these hostels demand cash, however they will accept cc if you insist and are staying for more than 1 night. These booking sites should clearly state if a hostel accepts credit card or cash only for payment. My other complaint is that there was only fridge and micro. So you couldnt cook any meals. This again was true at almost all hostels i stayed at in italy. They should clearly state if you have real kitchen access. This is truly misleading and can totally screw up your budget plans if you are counting on not having to eat everyday in restaurants for every meal.
Nice staff. Good location.
Shared bathroom not mentioned when booking.
The location is the best. Very near to Rialto and to piazza San marco. Many restaurants nearby. Wifi free!
Nothing. For its price it's excellent.
All to bad
The location was fantastic - close to key Venice sights and easy to find, especially with the emailed directions. Rooms were clean and cosy and the entire hostel is bright and colourful in a lovely old building. WiFi worked a lot better than other placed I've stayed.
Not all staff were as friendly as the next and it might not be as lively as some travellers might prefer - but for getting up and going exploring, it was ideal. Paying extra for sheets is not great, especially as it's not the cheapest hostel in the first place.
The location was excelent, not far from the busy areas of the city but not in the middle of the noisy center. The room was wide and spacious, the facilities very clean and the staff really helpful.
It's a bit far from the train station, but the walk there is nice. Also it's expensive compared to similar hostels in other cities of Italy, but that's Venice after all. Some breakfast included would have been nice though.
It's a smaller quiet hostel. Nice place to relax for a bit. Kitchen is clean as well as the rooms and two shared bathrooms. Location is about 30 min walk from the trains, but it's a good spot to stay in the city.
Water pressure and hot water in the shower weren't the best.
Staff was helpful. Very nice kitchen for guests to use.
Too much noise by other guests until very late at night. Long queues for the toilets in the morning.
Quiet, clean, central (but off the tourist migration route). Beautiful old building; rooms are large and full of air and light. Pleasant staff and fellow travellers. Easy to find coming from Accademia bridge and Campo Santo Stefano.
These are not complaints but things people should know when they book. Credit cards are used only to hold a reservation, and payment in cash is expected on arrival (this wasn't obvious to me when I first arrived at The Academy, which led to some awkwardness...this was quickly resolved). Staff are not always present at reception but can be reached easily by phone, e-mail, or notes left on the reception desk.
nice staff and clean, in a great location a short walk from the S. Samuele water bus.
Nice staff and location. Clean and quiet.
Just a 2 Minute Walk from San Samuele Waterbus Station. A Nice Kitchen and the barhroom/showers are excellent & clean for a hostel. Would stay there Again .
I stayed in the Academy with a friend for three nights and was very happy with the location. We managed to visit everything within a walking distance from the Academy. A bit hard to find when you are a foreigner but the great location and the cleanliness of the place makes it definitely worth it. I recommend this place!
The reception lady is excellent, friendly. She offered me the cozy room.
The price of bed clothes is expensive...€5 per one set...
