Very good,
Score from 341 reviews
“ This hotel is so beautiful and the location is perfect but best of all is the staff especially the young man . He should be promoted to manager. He always had a smile and at breakfast was so willing to help and also when we left helped us with our bags and stayed with us until our driver came. Was the best service we had in Italy. ”

The location of the hotel was excellent and unique, with views of the Galleria from the breakfast room. Our bedroom was large and comfortable with a wonderful balcony with scented shrubs looking out onto a side street leading onto the traffic free shopping street where we could sit and watch the world go by. We loved the jaccuzzi bath too in the bathroom. Everything about the hotel was stylish and very clean and smart.

location is good, opposite San Carlos Theatre and near shops and restaurants Presentation on the website is much nicer than the real thing. The hotel is located on the 4th floor, you need to pay 10 cents in the slotmachine to use the elevator. Rooms are basic. Breakfast is poor, stale bread. Staff is helpfull, its definitely not a four star but a three star hotel!

It is close to everything. So very convenient. Friendly helpful staff. The shower was great to look at but terrible to shower with. Lacked pressure and blocked outlets I think!

The staff was magnificent. The location for me was perfect, directly across the street from San Carlo Opera House. Also a short walk from fine restaurants, the bay, lovely piazzas and oh, did I say great resaurants? It could have used a bit more light in the room. Next time I'll request an outside balcony and that should remedy the light situation.

My experience at Galleria Umberto was absolutely fantastic. It wasn't quite perfect, which I will get to in a moment, but I definitely feel that it enhanced my experience in Naples and I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat if I ever come back. Let's start with my pre-checkin experience. I was exchanging e-mails with the staff prior to my check-in to confirm services and information in advance. Their response was prompt and helpful, but I found myself having to repeat some information to them a couple times because different staff members would respond. Next, checkin. We had the staff arrange a shuttle service for my party, and the driver was waiting for us and everything was perfect. However, upon talking to the driver he didn't seem aware that we had arranged for a roundtrip service. I don't know if this was due to his lack of English skills or either his company or our hotel not relaying the proper information to him, but it was all sorted out by the time we checked in. Upon arrival to the hotel, the driver led us to a huge wooden door with nothing signifying that it's the Galleria Umberto hotel. If it wasn't for this driver, I'm sure we would have never figured out where the entrance to the hotel is. The checkin procedure itself was smooth and easy. Stefania took our names, copied our passports and we were in our rooms within 5 minutes. The room. Absolutely stunning. The high ceiling, the beautiful furniture and the view of the Galleria Umberto arcade from my window made me feel like classic European royalty. Wi-Fi was easy to connect to and I had a strong connection throughout the entire time. The tile flooring is necessary for the atmosphere of the room, but for practicality's sake it is a bit unfortunate as sound easily carries throughout the hallway. I thought my phone was ringing a couple of times only to find out that it was the Front Desk's phone. I must have been lucky or slept well on their bed as I was never waken up by any inconsiderate...

The staff were excellent. They make you feel at home and go above and beyond to look after your needs. I was not thrilled with the area surrounding the hotel. First time in my life where I was afraid to leave the hotel room. The Galleria had some nice shopping. Naples itself is dirty and it was sad to see graffiti on monuments. The area surrounding the hotel. Seedy people hanging around and I did not feel safe. You know it's sketchy when the cab drivers lock their doors. No fault of the hotel but I would stay in a different area altogether.

The bell boys were fantastic with all of our luggage and the wait staff at breakfast were very accommodating. The breakfast was lovely and the views looking out of the dining room and down into the plaza were stunning. 1. Our room wasn't clean. There was mold encircling the entire top of the tub, which in my opinion-needed to be re-grouted. When I alerted the front desk staff, she did attempt to have it cleaned, but again the mold was so bad, no amount of cleaning would clear it up. 2. The toilet seat needed to be replaced from wear and tear. 3.The floors were dirty. 4. The pillows didn't smell fresh and smelled like they hadn't been washed after the previous guest. 5. We were quoted an incorrect fee for the boat to Capri by the front desk staff. We were told 30 euros when in fact it was closer to 40 euros. 6. The beds were hard, but this seems to be a trend in Italy.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful. The room was clean and spacious. We had a balcony with a view to a square, which was lovely to sit and relax after walking around Naples. Breakfast was great with a variety of choices. The hotel is central and within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and some castles. We had a great stay.

Fantastic central location. Beautiful building. No parking on premises even just to unload luggage. No front door service first have to find parking, walk to hotel with bags and then go to public parking area. No private parking for hotel guests. No service from street have to go to 4th floor of building to hotel to get any help.

The hotel staff was very friendly, we arrived early in the morning and we're offered coffee and pastries. The rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel is near the port and easily located near the main streets. The only problem with the hotel is that the Wi-Fi didn't work and you need to put a 10 cent coin in to use the elevator. Very inconvenient!

Beautiful and unique space. Wonderful staff. Convenient to waterfront, pedestrian street shopping, and major Fodor recommended historical sites. I loved that the hotel is small and all on one floor so that I could just roll out of bed and practically walk to breakfast in my pajamas! Ok, I admit I was a bit disappointed in the 6 pm free "cocktail hour," which a reviewer had raved about. While the champagne was great, the snack food was more like bar food for beer. Perhaps I was expecting olives and cheese? And where were the other travellers? I expected to meet folks and hear of their adventures! Picky, picky, I know.

A true gem and the best value in Naples! I lived/worked in Naples for 5 years and knew I wanted a central location in this chaotic but fascinating city. Located in the "must-see" attraction of the Galleria Umberto, the hotel is beautiful, immaculate, art filled and close to the port (for ferries to the islands), restaurants, shopping, culture (the opera house is across the street - the pianist Lang Lang was performing one night). The train station is a short cab ride. The rooms (I think just 12 rooms total at the moment) are large - we had a king-size 4 poster bed with a great mattress, wall-mounted flat screen TV facing the bed (with several English language channels), and a small outdoor balcony with table/chairs. Free drinks are served at the bar at 6:30! The A/C is controlled by you in the room and you can cool it to where you want it. The English speaking staff were SPECTACULAR! Since the hotel is small in the number of rooms/guests, the staff gets to know you and you eventually see them as friends. Nothing but smiles and "How can I help you?" from them. They made arrangements for tours of Amalfi Coast, Pompei, Sorrento, etc. Provided great restaurant recommendations in addition to ones I already knew about from living there before. Obviously the manager (Manuel Corduas) is very selective about who he hires; they were ALL just great. Typical is Caesar, the young guy who greets you in the morning at breakfest - I never saw him without a genuine smile and he seemed to derive real joy from providing guests with quick, friendly service. (FYI, breakfast includes American style eggs, breakfast meats, FRESH squeezed OJ as well as sliced meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, etc. and all styles of caffiene beverages). I've stayed at the 5-star hotels nearby that face the Bay of Naples (the Vesuvius, Continental, Santa Lucia, etc). They are beautiful, large hotels with great sea views and efficient but formal staffs, and you'll pay dearly for those views. The bathrooms are totally adequate, but nothing as special as the rest of your room or the rest of the hotel. No fault of the hotel, but the elevator is smallish and you'll need to make more than one trip if you and your boy/girlfriend/family have lots of bags - no big deal though. FYI, the elevator has a coin box inside which suggests that you need to pay to use the elevator. But, the coin box is a relic from the past, just push "4" when you get in and off you go (by the way, the 4th floor is actually the "5th" floor since in Europe the ground floor is floor "0"). The friendly, young employee, Caesar, told us that the hotel was adding additional rooms (10 more, I think). I just hope that they can maintain the same incredible level of service and comfort when their expansion is complete.
