I was pleased with the location: the hotel is indeed very close to the railway station, which is very convenient if you arrive and depart by train. The Uffizi Gallery, Pitti Palace, Ponte Vecchio are not in the immediate vicinity, but within a walking distance - and Florence is a beautiful place to walk around.
What I liked about the hotel itself:
- clean room
- relatively new bathroom equipment
- working lift
- good soundproofing of the room
- polite staff
The room is fitted out in a very modest way: few items of furniture, some of which appear to have been handmade (and not entirely successfully). TV had the tiniest screen I had seen in ages (then again, there are so few channels, I doubt you'd want to watch it much). Service could use some improvement. We stayed for two nights, and I had to request the administrator to switch on the heating both on the first and the second day. When the temperature at night is about 0 C, heating should be available by default, not at an extra request, I believe. The electric kettle, listed as one of the room features, is only available if you ask for it and leave a 20 Euro deposit at the reception. Little things like that should be mentioned in the description. The room was cleaned on regular basis but this is my first hotel experience when the cleaner removed (hotel-provided) toiletries instead of adding them. Cups I brought into the room myself along with the kettle on the first night, had also been diligently removed during the cleaning, so I had to go after them again. The omelette at breakfast was hopelessly cold both mornings (and that was in the middle of the period when the breakfast was being served). At the payment stage, my card was charged in the wrong currency, and a charge for unnecessary currency exchange was added to the payment. All things I described are minor issues but they do affect the overall impression.
