The owner, Giovanni, is an such a hospitable host. My friend and I arrived at 9am from an overnight bus, and although the stated check-in time is 3pm, Giovanni was so kind to let us check-in early. He even hastened to clean our room and make sure it was good and ready for us. And on the morning of our departure, we had to leave very early in the morning, and he was up early to prepare breakfast for us before our departure. Apart from that, location is good (right in the sassi), room clean and well-equipped, breakfast is generous and delicious! Only thing is, unfortunately I can't speak Italian, which is a shame as I'm sure Giovanni has many interesting stories to share, as the B&B used to be his family home.
Very clean and well equipped room, wonderfull location, frendly owner, tastefull breakfast.
Owner doesn't speak english. Public parking is far from accomodation (about 1 km).
Nice reception by owner Giovanni. Excellent breakfast with homemade food
This two-unit cave dwelling is comfortable and mind-blowing. State-of-the-art appliances enhance an ancient rock dwelling on a main street of Matera. Breakfast was cheerful and delicious. The owner was very kind and had good restaurant suggestions.
Caveat: Arriving in Matera in the evening by bus from Napoli, we couldn't figure out public transportation to the hotel. (All turned out well: an already-booked taxi driver helped us by calling a colleague who took us right to the door of B&B Fiorentini for ten euro.)
The comfort and cleanliness, the hospitality, the friendliness of the owner (although he only speaks Italian)
To park your car anywhere near is a disaster! The owner prepares a very special breakfast with local ingredients. But it is so much, you can't eat it all. To make him understand that is very difficult. It's a pity to have to leave much of the good food...
We were completely satisfied with our stay! Giovanni was there to greet us and show us to our modest but very suitable accommodations. The room and common area was "spotless" clean. The bath facilities complete and great with a roomy shower. And the bed and linens were just perfect (we "slept like logs". A first rate spot on our top criteria: clean, good beds, good bath. No air-conditioning in our room, but the unit is embedded into the adjacent rock wall (though all with modern finishes) and was quite comfortable with just a circulating air fan. Giovanni was helpful in pointing out places we should see during our short stay and fixed us a delightful breakfast of coffee, juice, pastries and fresh fruit. It is especially well located in the Sassi area and can be reached by car if needed. We walked easily from the nearby parking at Damasco's Parking Garage, which was recommended by our host and was perfect for our needs. An exploration of the city's Sassi area was a pleasant walk and there were plenty of places to eat or have a drink nearby. We will make a point of arranging our next visit to Matera so that we can stay here again.
It was a bit challenging to find in the first instance, even with Google Maps to guide us. Good directions from the parking garage attendant were most helpful. If coming from public transportation, a taxi can deliver to the front door.
My favorite was the one-man staff who is a very helpful, cordial Mr.! The breakfast was copious, delicious. Everything was OK also with my room!
A little bit difficult to find the B&B but we succeeded!:)
Staff papa was really kind and nice!
Nothing except that we only spent 2 nights there
On the center matera wonderfull
Parking not easy
The man, the place, everything.
The owner does not speak any other, than Italian, language. There should be, a a general rule to all b&b and hotels that they must have at least one english spoken channel in the TV.
Two words sum up our stay at B&B Fiorentini - 'ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!'. We could not have wished for a better place to stay. Giovanni made us feel so welcome and it was a wonderful experience to have the opportunity to stay in this B&B which used to be his family home and to get first hand knowledge of how life in the Sassi. If you plan a visit to the Sassi then B&B Fiorentini is the place to stay. Thank you Giovanni - we hope to see you again soon!
