The room was ok, but just ok. The chrome shower rack was rusty, yes rusty! The shower handle was the wrong way round and came off in my hand, I mean come on, you're charging €130 a night and you can't at least change a rusty old shower tray and fix a dangerous shower handle!
The air conditioning was atrocious and when my wife complained that it would not set below 23c, the man insisted that it was impossible to be below that level due to the heat outside, almost accusing her of being stupid! However, after much fiddling by my tenacious wife, in the end she managed to set it at 18c, that despite his protestations to the contrary!
Breakfast was very poor. Basically, you need to completely ignore the beautiful picture of the breakfast on their web site and think "basic" and you might not be so disappointed!
Like I said, I've read all the reviews but in my view, this hotel wasn't worth half what we paid for it - our friends stayed at the beautiful Hotel Pendini for much less than we paid, now if you want Chic in Florence then go to the Pendini!
I've read the reviews and I've read them again, and I can't help but think that we must have stayed in a different hotel!
It's certainly in Florence (right in the heart) but it is most definitely not "Chic". Firstly, it's not easy to find, primarily because it shares an entrance door with a number of other business', namely a Dr. Surgery, a Travel Agency. The entrance hall is most definitely shabby, dark and unwelcoming and something you'd expect from a pre-war Florence, not a "Chic" hotel.
