we had a wonderful one night stay here in October. We were greeted in such a warm and friendly way and given a complimentary bottle of prosecco and a snack! We had a little balcony terrace where we watched the sun go down over roof tops! Breakfast was great and we were given maps of the city and they also helped us find the best way to get to the airport by printing off the timetable for us! Would definitely come again!
Friendly, family run bed and breakfast. They were very kind and offered us an early breakfast when we wanted to leave to get the 8.30 train to Florence. Very well positioned in Lucca, near the station and the cathedral. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated accommodation.
The coffee from the machine!
Perfect location for Lucca, close to parking areas, easy to access and exit the walled city and walk to everywhere. The rooms are charming and very spacious. Really lovely. Nice Italian breakfast. Wonderful hosts. I would definitely choose this B & B again for a stay in Lucca.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Very close to duomo. Easy to walk anywhere within the walls and easy access to bus and train. Lovely old building. Good wifi.
Lots of stairs. But lift for the top bit. Staff carried my heaviest bag
Laura and Fabio are such sweet people and wonderful hosts. The rooms were spotlessly clean and spacious with modern bathrooms. The location was also excellent and close to everything. Hearing Puccini in the church across from the B&B also added to the charm of this location.
Ideally positioned from train station and within walls of Lucca. Laura and son, Fabio, make you feel welcome throughout your stay. Laura can always provide a good breakfast and information you may need. The Hotel is very clean and well maintained. Would stay again when we return to Lucca next
Nothing- its clean, warm, local and next to the Palio ceremony on a Friday night
Owners were very friendly and welcoming. Excellent breakfast, charming rooms with good furnishings. Quiet location with lovely views of the Duomo.
Locality absolutely central to everything and walking distance from the station. Owners Laura and her son Fabbio were very welcoming and helpful with nothing too much trouble. We were 50 mts from the church where the Puccini concerts were held and about 100 mtrs from the Duomo, Next door was a great little restaurant. And Lucca itself totally wonderful.
The stairs were a tad steep.
the 22 steps up to the lift
The comfort, the view from our room, the location, the owners (Laura and Fabio) and everything else!!!
There wasn't a single thing that we didn't love about B&B Duomo!
Decor Atmosphere and staff
Top location in the city center. Very nice building from the 19th century with fitting interior. Service starts long before you arrive. They obviously know their business very well and act very professionally - rather like a very small hotel with all the amenities. The hospitality was overwhelming!
WLAN was a little patchy sometimes.
Fabio and his mother were wonderful! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, Fabio was helpful and attentive (and he speaks excellent English). Our room was stunning - period features; huge shower room; comfortable bed; and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was plentiful and with lots of choice. And it was just a 1 min walk from the central square, where the Lucca Festival took place. Loved it, and would certainly stay there again, and again.
There isn't any parking anywhere close - and driving around Lucca is a nightmare! If you're driving, I advise you to park at the rail station - there's a charge but it's free from 8pm-8am, and just a 5 min walk from the B&B. The building's lift starts at the 1st floor (2nd floor if you're American!), so if you have mobility issues, it might be problematic.
it was really central, so easy to walk everywhere.
it was very very noisy.
For only a very small extra charge we got an upgraded room, and it was well worth it. The room was very large and the bed and other furniture was lovely. Very convenient being close to train station yet inside the wall, next to the cathedral. Taking bus to Pisa for the morning worked very well.
atmosphere friendliness location views of duomo from breakfast table
we booked very last minute and our bedroom was right by reception area so not as quiet as some of the other rooms
The accommodation, situation, food, cleanliness, comfort were all excellent. The friendliness and helpfulness of Fabio and Laura was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble and they made our 5 day stay perfect. We would not hesitate to recommend il Duomo to our friends and family.
Great location, friendly service.
Does not accept credit cards. Problem if staying several days (due to amount of bank withdrawals)
fantastic location in the middle of town, but still on a quiet square. the room was amazing in terms of size and comfort. maria and fabio are great hosts/ hostess - really caring and want to make your stay perfect. could not believe we had been so lucky to book this place. cant wait to go back
excellent English by staff and enthusiasm to make our stay the best.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and beautifully furnished. The location is very central for exploring Lucca. Continental breakfast was very good and there is an excellent coffee machine available all day. There was also a welcome bottle of prosecco in our room too.
Not a problem for us but access is via an old internal stone staircase to the B&B (the building is very old which adds to its charm, elegance and beauty once in the B&B) The stairs may cause difficulty for some with heavy suitcases. The lift starts at the first floor rather than the ground floor. The shower in our room was quite snug for people who may be overweight (as some of my relatives are) but for us of average size and build it was more than adequate.
Wonderfully located inside the city walls, a walkable distance from the train station. The breakfast room overlooks the Duomo. Hosts are very helpful. Rooms are large and well furnished. Very highly recommended, a delightful experience.
The only slight negative is that the B&B is up 2 flights of stairs. There is an elevator for one flight. The hosts will try to help carry bags the other.
