The Virgilio is a boutique hotel in Orvieto's historic center, the only one right on Piazza Duomo. It offers splendid views of the Duomo Cathedral.

Selita was most helpful to our visit..giving us direction and local wisdom. Her breakfasts are great...self-grown olive oil a delight. Rev. and Mrs. Jay Ekman Saratoga Springs, NY
wonderful and helpful owners, position, atmosphere and a beautiful house.highly recommended
My wife and I – we are in our 60s, very active and experienced travelers – stayed at the B&B CasaSelita in Orvieto for 2 nights in early September 2014 – the 4th stop on our 2-week Italy vacation. We were initially attracted to this property because of (1) ratings on various sites that emphasized the convenient location, the quiet location, and the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms; (2) the potential ability to easily walk to Orvieto; (3) free parking; and (4) the price. Our experience exceeded expectations in all respects! Our room was exceptionally nice, the beds were excellent, everything spotless clean, and the bathroom was very modern. Breakfast was outstanding – traditional European fare, except no eggs – and we were able to eat on the terrace that overlooked the beautiful countryside and listen to the church bells. The staff, especially Selita, were all extremely nice and helpful. The B&B was were easy to find as there were various signs along the road pointing the way. One can walk into old Siena from the hotel, as advertised, but it’s more like 10 minutes, not 5 minutes – and all uphill. After arriving at the large parking area, be sure to take the free elevator to the top, not the long and slow series of escalators. The first night, we went into town for dinner, but did not enjoy the walk back in the dark having some concern for safety as there was absolutely no one around at 9:00 PM. On the second night, we made the 5-minute drive into Orvieto Scalo – the area you first go through when you exit the Autostrada – and found a wonderful restaurant (there are many) where we paid significantly less for dinner than in old town Orieto.
Loved everything. Beautiful surroundings, lovely breakfast and a comfortable bed.
The owners and their knowledge of the area, homemade and local produce for breakfast taken on the terrace. The views from our room.
Up hill walk to the lift.
The location and hosts were excellent. Selita and her husband were fun to talk to and get to know. The house is an old stone home owned by her family for generations and renovated by her a few years ago. As many of the other reviews have stated the breakfasts were all homemade and you can tell the pride that goes into them. While it is a short walk up the hill to the walls of Orvieto, if you have any walking issues it may be a problem especially in the heat and walking back in the dark. Once we got the lay of the land, we drove and were able to find metered parking in whatever section of town we decided to go to. After a day of touring it was nice to come "home" and enjoy a bottle of wine and snacks that we bought to have on the patio.
Orvieto is a fine old town with a superb cathedral with many other places to explore nearby. Many good restaurants, esp. Zeppelin and Palomba. The owners are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable; their advice is excellent. Everything is tastefully decorated. Breakfast is good and ample. The B&B is below the city, and there is a walk through an olive grove to the road. An elevator takes you to the top of the city wall. Highest recommendation.
A bit hard to find as GPS didn't recognize street address, but people of the town know the place. Also, contact by phone for directions.
We loved the garden like atmosphere and the very comfortable nicely designed home atmosphere of the rooms. A real cottage like feeling set in an olive orchard at the bottom of the cliffs and walls of Orvieto, our favorite hill town. Views are gorgeous and the proprietors very friendly and helpful. Proximity to the elevator/escalator that go to town is very good to have.
Perfect location. Wonderful, friendly and helpful hosts. Beautiful surroundings. I wish we could have stayed longer.
I loved the grounds, with the olive trees, grape pergolas, stone facades, and all the flowers. The owners, Enzo and Selita, could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The breakfast offerings were delicious, and the staff were extremely accomodating. I would recommend Casa Selita to everyone I know.
There is not a single thing I did not like!
