Location in old center Breakfast
Couple who ran the B&B were friendly and ever helpful in making suggestions for dinner. Clean and well kept Healthy breakfast, good coffee, homemade pastry Cooking classes are an option.
Many stairs, first from the parking lot, then up to the B&B. Not recommended for people with mobility issues.
Terrific location, close to a large parking lot (down below). Very personable and friendly hosts. Very clean and the rooms were made up every day. Good breakfast with a variety of juice, cereal, cheese, ham, toast, jams, and a variety of other cake and cookies.
Nothing really – except that if you have mobility problems then you should know that once you reach the B&B there are two (and maybe three) sets of very steep steps in order to reach your room – but then that’s Cortona which really only has one flat street!!
Room and furniture, Close to old town.
We choosed this BB, because we read that there are excelent breakfast, but there was really nothing for brakfest, bad coffe, 3 slice of ham and 3 slice of cheese an 1 cake. I couldn't sleep from 5 a.m. because of nois in kitchen,
Location and breakfast
Narrow staircases, but that is Cortona accommodation.
We loved Antonella's baking and the way the B&B was laid out. Our room was quite private and the rooms are all two-three floors above the street (Cortona is very hilly) so not much street noise. Breakfast food was average with the basics such as sliced meat and cheese, cereal and yogurt. Antonella also provided her own baking which was a nice bonus since they are good. The rooms were clean with a good sized bed and lots of room to move around in. There was also a cabinet and chest of drawers for your clothing if you have a longer-stay. The B&B has 3 units so there is never any issue with too many guests milling around. We actually loved the fact that the place was so unique with a lot of stairs. And the fact that Cortona had the little pathways called "Vicollo" which have it more charm.
We feel awful saying this as we may have caught Antonella and Pasquale having a bad few days. We just did not feel the warm and fuzzy feeling that other reviewers received. We did not feel welcome at all. We almost felt like we were an inconvenience. The vacuum cleaner was going by around 8:30 am, and the hosts were not very attentive if the guests around breakfast since they were already cleaning the rooms at the same time. Antonella is obviously preoccupied with other things going on so we really did not feel or see the "passion" she has for running a bed and breakfast.
We loved the location! (Do not travel with lots of luggage, as the streets are very steep and carrying bags/suit cases are difficult.) We packed an overnight bag and took the escalators into Cortona as our host directed us. (Our host sent directions before hand, which was very useful.) The rooms are not very sound proof. In case you are a light sleeper, the town’s noise may disturb you, but we loved it.
Keep in mind that there are a lots of stairs to climb in the town as well as the guest house.
Hostess friendly and helpful Location great just off Main Street
Didn't have share twin facilities No tea and coffee making facilities
Our hosts were attentive and welcoming. Antonella is a great cook and everything at breakfast was homemade and delicious (buy her cookbook!). A perfect location in Cortona off the main street up a windy set of stairs. Cortona was an amazing town with stunning views.
The location was killer. The bed was nice. The breakfast was great. The owners were incredibly accommodating and polite. The bathroom was modern and clean.
A lot of steps.
Location Quaintness Cultural experience with the family. Plus plus knowledge gained re Frances Mayes. Roof top view down to Tuscany. The spectaculer views Wow!!!! Explored on foot and loved the old world feel. shops resturants markets entertainers churches etc.
Lack of parking near by......got a parking ticket in 20 mins. Have to park way down hill and catch escalator plus walk. Sorted this by repacking small suitcase for 2 days stay. Unfit people would struggle with staircase and steps in Cortona.
Atmosphere, service, breakfast with home-made dolce and bred, furniture, located in the center
Too many stairs inside, beds are short for tall people
Antonella and Pasqual. Such great and lovely owners. We had taken a cooking class but decided to take another class taught by Antonella. My partner and I had fun learning Tuscany food. Loved the facility, its like being home. Right on the center. Hated to leave.
Quite a walk up to the facility and parking could be a problem.
Antonella and her husband were very welcoming and kind. Our room was small but cozy and all we really needed. The location is right off Via Nazionale where there are many restaurants and shops so it was very central. The street that the B&B is located on is very charming and we saw many people taking photos of it. Parking was not difficult to find though there was a bit of a walk. This was only a small challenge with luggage. The breakfast was tasty and the company nice. Antonella makes a yummy cappuccino and her daughter made a delicious typical breakfast cake that we ate every day. It was also interesting to meet the other guests at breakfast as we were all from different places. I would recommend B&B Vicolo Della Scala and return in a heartbeat!
Mattress was a little hard for my taste. But we always slept well after our long days of tourism.
My husband and I are on our way from Cortona to Sorrento and I am already missing Antonella's cakes and biscuits. I've nearly gone through my stash I took with me on the train. We stayed at this lovely B&B for 5 nights and could not recommend this gem of a place highly enough to other travellers. Antonella's breakfasts and service towards her guests is second to none. The rooms are charming, clean, comfortable and with a great bed and modern bathroom. There are spots that you can just sit and relax with a bottle of wine or 2. Also highly recommend Antonella's private cooking class. She is an amazing cook and a great teacher who talks you through it all step by step and the cost is very reasonable considering the quality of the lesson and the food you get to eat afterwards! Cortona is a lovely place with great restaurants and fab local wine. Be sure to follow Antonella and Pascuale's recommendations as they're excellent. Be sure to check out the inside of the town's theatre as it's gorgeous and we highly recommend trattoria dardenales and la buccacia as well as bar 500. And of course snoopy's gelateria! Enjoy Cortona and this lovely place.
Having to leave and say goodbye!
What can I say, theowners were lovely, the location was great despite the stairs to the hotel. Loved the room. Everything was great.
Our first time to Cortona and it was made extra special, thanks to the beautiful husband/wife hosts. Thank you so much for your kind hospitality, effort and especially ensuring we got our taxi on time ( I feel horrible I didn't know you were waiting there for our taxi!!) highly recommended location, room and breakfast! Beautiful town, too! We'll be back... Maybe we could come straight from Sorrento, with bread?' ;) thank you again xx
Hostess, location, breakfast, clean, comfortable.

No near parking; but that is Cortona!
The husband and wife team were very friendly and helpful The breakfast, especially Antonella's cakes and biscuits! The location as it was very central to everything
Could do with better parking instructions, ie: which one is nearest. We walked miles up steep hills and with our bags The steps! But that is Cortona all over and not the B+B's fault.
The B&B was centrally located on one of the prettiest walkways in town. The breakfast included pastries which were all homemade and the recommendations for dinner were great.
Antonella was so friendly & helpful. Great position in the old city with free car parking.
Perfect location: a few stairs away from the main street :-) . The design and furnishings of the house are perfect for someone who wants to feel the real Tuscan countryside. Very friendly and helpful family (this B&B is a family business). It was our favourite place to stay in all our trip (the best 3 days from our 2 weeks vacation)
The owners are sweet people who make you feel welcomed, they have excellent home made cakes and bread for breakfast, the rooms are lovely and clean, the location is perfect to explore the town.
very convenient to parking and with friendly hosts. Fresh homemade variety at breakfast. comfortable bed and pillows
threshold between room and bath is a almost dangerous during the night. we used a white towel on it to stand out.
