Owner speaks limit English but was very nice and helpful. Good location (although toward top of the town). The room and bathroom was always kept clean. Quiet area.
Plumbing/pipes in the room. Every now and then water gushes through the pipes (mainly limited to the morning though - night time was quiet as there is a sign not to use the shower at night).
The help was great Bags stored until we departed the town
No elevator, but no place has one in Monterosso
It was a friendly jolly woman who was the owner. She didn't speak English except one Word "Cash" Extremely clean and nice.
Very Italian atmosphere. Hostess kind and welcoming. Great location for Monterosso, Cinque Terre and Liguria. Cosy room.
Elyse was very warm and welcoming and could communicate with us despite her limited English. The room was immaculate and very quiet at night. The location was very convenient on one of the main streets with restaurants, a market and laundry very nearby.
There was no lift so people should be aware of the 3 flights of stairs.
Old landlady rushed into the toilet and scolded my wife in Italian for using the water in our "so-called" private toilet (which is located outside/beside our room) in the early morning 6 am as the reason given was the running tap water sound may wake up neighbors. We paid for the accommodation but so may restriction. Not value for stay.
The owner Elise is very friendly, nice place and clean
I liked very much to have met Elyse, very nice old Italian woman. She is very kind and friendly. She likes to help you although she doesn't speak English but you can understand her perfectly in Italian. She is lovely woman and has the place really clean and cozy.
It's not that we didn't like it but we didn't know that it was just a room in a house. Not kitchen or living room to share... And the prize is very high for a room only (at least in my opinion) but this village, Monterosso al Mare is expensive so, you don't feel cheated... It's just that the little town and mainly its landscapes are incredible but not cheap at all.
Elyse was as wonderful as the other reviews mentioned. She didn't speak a word of English to us, but we could very easily communicate. She was an excellent host and provided a very clean and comfortable experience.
the breakfast could have been a bit better. Elyse has something worked out with a local restaurant, which provided a limited menu of coffee/juice/crossant/toast. It would have been nice to have some protein as an option. Regardless, we had an excellent experience, we would definitely recommend!
We like the location and thr people there, that despite the small issue with the language they tried to help us and make our stay pleasant.
Poor Breakfast and the noise from the waterpipes when other residents of the building used anything that had to with using water.
Great friendly village Good food Wonderful coastline
Crowded boat travel up and down cinque terra
Amazing location near the beach and town centre.
Inadequate continuous hot water for both. Very basic breakfast. Pillows were very flat and not very supportive.
It was a very cute, secure and quaint place! Elyse cannot speak a word of English and asked for cash which took us off guard, but we had a wonderful stay!
The hostess did not speak English and the place was tricky to find. Bed wasn't super comfortable but that's bring critical.
The owner was very welcoming and the decor was nice.
The price is high but this seems typical for the area. The noise from the pipes was quite annoying.
Good location, very close to the center, but quiet. Everything was clean. Kind lady (she is the owner).
Even it is a B&B we found strange that it was the room in private flat. There wasn’t direct connection between room and bathroom (you logged out from the room in to the lobby and from there to the bathroom, but this part of the hall separated only with mobile light plastic door/wall (exactly I don’t know the correct word for this kind of the door – sorry). Poor breakfast (coffee + juice + 1 croissant).
Location. Stay here to be in Monterosso (best evening atmosphere and choice of restaurants of the Cinque Terre) when everything else is booked. Bathroom was clean.
I paid 110 euro per night in early August (peak season). The place wasn't terrible, but certainly wasn't worth that kind of money. It was a simple room inside the woman's apartment. She did not make up the room during our stay and it is not like she makes breakfast either. She sends you with a coupon to the Enoteca down the street. She also fussed at us for everything...putting a backpack on the bed (only for sleeping!), letting the bedspread fall on the ground, having the window open while the a/c was on (which I had only just done to grab an item drying on the sill). Basically, I felt like she just wanted to collect the cash and turn over customers.
Elyse was a sweet, sweet lady. It was an easy walk to the beach and several restaurants. The hiking trail entrance was close by.
The rooms were up 6 flights of stairs and there was no elevator. We had very heavy luggage! Elyse spoke almost no English. This was not horrible, just a challenge.
I really like the attention from the staff, the location of the hotel, the rooms are really nice and clean, the staff is really nice and if you need any kind of help they are there to help you if they can.
Everything was PERFECT!!!
- Clean - Nice host - Central location in Monterosso
- Very small room - Lots of stairs to climb with your suitcase and no lift available
Landlady Elyse was very accommodating and accessible. Both rooms were clean, spacious, airy with windows open to the street. Bathroom for the large room is spacious but the bathroom for the smaller room is a bit tiny. Complimentary Wifi with reasonable speed. Close to a market and bank ATM machine. Breakfast voucher at the nearby cafe was nice. Property is located at the top of the main street. Lots of good restaurants and shops nearby.
Property is on the 3rd floor with no elevator. Use of the property is limited to the rented rooms. Being at the top end of the village, it is an approx 5-10 minute walk to the old town beach and15-20 minute walk to the train station and the new town beaches.
Warm and friendly host. location in the village convenient to everything. Although some distance from the station it was a easy and pleasant walk along the waterfront and through the village- a taxi service is however available. It was good decision to be based in Monterosso for our 5 day stay in Cinque Terre. Would highly recommend it to all visiting the area.
simple but confortable. very near the puclic parking. Elyse was very kind, she wellcomes you as you were returnig home.
Location, Hostess, Clean rooms
The owner of the apartment who is running the B&B is a lovely lady: extremely kind, polite and welcoming, she really does her best to accommodate your needs and to recommend best restaurants or activities. People in town know her well, so you often get a discount when you tell you are staying at her place. The breakfast is served in a cafè 50 mt away from the apartment, so super close and easy, service is good and options are too. Super central, but still not right in the middle of the busy area. Bathroom was super neat at arrival, very well taken care of in every detail.
Rooms weren't done every day. We stayed 2 nights and we were a bit surprised to find out that the room/bed wasn't done after the 1st night, although we did get clean towels for the bathroom. It's ok but perhaps better to specify on the website that in this respect it's more similar to renting a room rather than staying in a B&B where I normally get bed done every morning, right? Neighbors were a bit noisy on the first night but we slept very well the second night around. I guess that you can always get rude neighbors in 5 star hotels as well!
Very beautiful and clean room and bathroom.
Climbing up flights of stairs.
