Breakfast, helpfulness of owner, great viewers
Great customer service. Ask for the white chocolate croisant for breakfast, you won't be disapointed. Beautiful views
Pillows could be better.
We felt that the lovely young Indian fellow at the desk was a delight. He was so helpful , thoughtful and pleasant throughout our entire stay at the hotel. We were a family of three and we did find the bedroom and bathroom a little cramped for our liking. We had a problem with where to put our luggage and this meant walking space was limited. The bathroom was too small, but clean. The young gentleman running the hotel really made our stay enjoyable, he offered well considered advice and always welcomed us with a smile. It was his lovely manner that really made our stay at the hotel so happy . Please thank him on our behalf. It is so nice to be tested as a special guest, particularly as we are the paying customer. Thank-you!
I have pointed out various aspects above. Please read.
Barone B & B is supremely located on a hill overlooking the Mar Tirreno on the north end of Salerno. And while it is not centrally located, it is within walking distance to the "old" town, which has a lot of wonderful restaurants, bars and shops. There are several bus stops nearby, so it is easy to get to the other end of town without requiring a taxi. Some days we walked to the south side. It took about a half an hour, but walking along the promenade (Lungomare) was lovely. Vincenzo, the host, is very nice and accommodating. For breakfast he serves up a fabulous cappuccino and the absolute best croissants--filled with cream and blueberries, cherries, etc. It is evident that he truly loves being host at this B & B. The rooms are spacious, airy, bright and clean. Our room had a gorgeous view of the active port and coastline. You will hear some noise from the port--cranes unloading freight and trucks hauling it away, but if you close the window and turn on the air conditioner, there's no problem sleeping.
There were no negative experiences with Barone B & B.
Enzo (the owner) was super helpful! He told us everyhting about the beaches, about how to get to different parts of the Amalfi coast and to Pompei, and about the best restaurants and pizzerias in the area. Breakfasts are amazing here, too - Enzo brings fresh croissants and brioche every morning. The rooms are very cosy and the building iself is absolutely gorgeous. Overall it was easily one of the best places I've ever stayed at!
Wi-Fi was rather slow, although the signal itself was very stable. While the location is good for a beatiful seaview, it takes around half an hour to get to the train station and waiting for a bus can take a while.
The building has an old aristocratic atmosphere with a wonderful harbor view. The manager was very friendly and helpful.
The worst breakfast that I had in my entire southern Italy trip! We stayed for three days, but there was no variety for breakfast.
Vincent was very helpful and made us feel welcome.
Air conditioning did not work very well.

View was described as panoramic and was but of sea containers in a port. Quite a long walk to main part of Salerno.
Location is good (walking distance from the city centre), rooms are spacious, clean and the view from the window is beautiful. The owner, Vincenzo, is extremely friendly and helpful! He was bringing fresh local croissants every morning for breakfast. He also speaks English well. We definitely recommend Barone B&B!
The owner, Vincent, was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing. He happily made reservations and was available to handle problems. Vincent got to know us and our likes and dislikes, which is not possible in a larger hotel. The bathrooms and rooms were roomy and very clean.
Only negative was parking, which is at a premium in this city. Again Vincent was very informative and helpful when it came to parking. Parking spaces are very hard to find, of which the Barone Bed and Breakfast has no control.
Owner was really friendly and very helpful to his guests, providing them with information about the local area and where to eat. Quite close to the old town of salerno. Lovely view of harbour and busy working port. Everywhere was spotlessly clean.
Decor of rooms are very dated, similar to 1970 colour scheme. It wouldn't take a great cost to paint rooms in neutral colours and have plain bedding. We would prefer that the owner charge an extra 5 euro per person and provide perhaps ham, cheese and fruit for breakfast.
Enzo the owner was just great. My husband realized at the boat terminal that he had left his phone there and when he rang Enzo he hopped straight on his scooter and brought it to us, didn't want any payment. He was really helpful in every way. The room was simple but spacious and there was a lift. Close to the centre of town. Breakfast typically European with lovely coffee.
Enzo (the hostel owner) was amazing. He was super friendly and helpful. He showed us on a map all great places to visit and helped us with bussing to Amalfi. He made us an amazing breakfast every morning as well and always tried to accommodate to our needs.
Check in and check out time could have been a bit better. We found checking in at 4:00 pm was tricky and a 10:00 am check out was a little too early especially if you weren't planning on leaving Salerno until later in the day.
Vincent was a gracious host and welcomed us warmly to his B&B. He showed us around the facilities and gave us a map of Salerno and recommendations of the places to visit. Barone is very charming and in a great location. The room we stayed in was beautiful, well-equipped and included breakfast in the morning. Would definitely love to return and stay at Braone again.
Cleanliness and hospitality of the host Breakfast was great, lots of fresh pastries provided
Entrance was a bit mysterious, as, we thought it was an old abandoned property at first. However, the building has a lot of character and once you get up to the apartment it's very clean and well maintained. The bed wasn't super comfortable but we still slept fine.
The relaxed, personal atmosphere with attention to everyone's needs. It stands out from other ordinary bed and breakfast establishments with its homely, rather quirky setting in a beautiful historic building with wonderful views over the harbour. We loved the fact that the proprietor was there to make sure you had everything you need. He has a good balance between being friendly and professional and not excessively fussy and over-attentive.
Vincent has a helpful And warm personality. We were comfortable and had every thing we needed. He has great local knowledge and willingly shared it to make our stay comfortable. Baron B and B has a unique personality. You will be greatly rewarded by this charming old building and staff.
We had to leave to go back.
Vincent, the owner, was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is on walking distance from the city center.
From the website i got the impression that the rooms were slightly bigger then they were..
Owner was very polite and his advices ware very helpful. Great location for region explore. A lot of parking spots.
Need more privacy for guests. Same breakfast everyday. Weak internet.
Barone B+B is the perfect stop for a a quick stay in Salerno (not much to do in Salerno itself, but great hub to see Amalfi coast and train to/from Naples if flying in or out of Italy that way). The B+B is extremely CLEAN, very comfortable, and the location is not too far from the city center - very close to the port to leave for Capri, and around many great restaurants and bars. Only a 25-30 minute walk to the bus and train station. The host is Vincent who was PHENOMENAL - cannot speak highly enough about him! he went out of his way to make us feel welcome, recommend great restaurants, sights to visit, walking directions, etc. and even accommodated an earlier breakfast both days we were there. Highly recommended!
Vincent was very welcoming and helpful and spoke good English. Decent location good value for money nice room and a very quirky interesting building
The owner was so lovely, really looking after us and full of good advise about the town. Its location was super easy to get anyway and right next to the SITA bus stop which travels the length of the Amalfi coast. Good breakfast.
It's worth getting a bus or taxi from the train station as it is a little further away than we thought (we walked it in about 30 mins) Overlooked the main port which was a little noisy in the morning. (But views are great)
The owner was really helpful with suggestions and in particular a good restaurant. Clean, tidy and comfortable.
It was located opposite the dock and for a few hrs during the night, cranes were operating and so for a light sleeper, kept me awake.
The view and room were fantastic. We were also well looked after in terms breakfast and recommendations.
- friendly staff - central position - secure - nice building with an old Elevator - clean
