Bauer Il PalazzoS. Marco 1413/D, San Marco, 30124 Venice (Show map) Wonderful, Score from 125 reviews“This is a fantastic, palace residence from the 18th century. The service is definitely 5 Star, the staff could not have been more helpful, courteous or attentive. The room was definitely a palace, large, junior suite with a high ceiling, fresco on the sealing, silk wall coverings, ornate furnishings, large sitting area foyer and large marble bathroom. The property is on the water at the start of the Venetian Grand Cannel!! We would stay again.”
Mark,
Tuson
In a prestigious 18th century building, this luxury hotel features panoramic views of the Grand Canal. Its lavish Venetian rooms include a large marble bathroom, a short walk from St. Mark’s Square. All rooms at Bauer Il Palazzo feature rich fabrics, gilt mirrors and Murano glass chandeliers. Each room comes with satellite TV, and Wi-Fi is free in public areas. Some rooms offer views of the lagoon, others overlook the canal. A varied breakfast buffet is served daily on the rooftop terrace with exclusive views of the Venice skyline. The De Pisis restaurant offers a gourmet menu every evening, and guests can enjoy a cocktail or traditional spritz at the B Bar in the winter, or on the Bar Canale terrace in the summer. The staff can arrange a candlelit dinner on the canal or tango lessons on the terrace, upon request. The hotel’s rooftop hot tub can be booked in advance, and full spa facilities are available at the Palladio partner hotel on Giudecca Island. A free shuttle service connects the two hotels. San Marco Vallaresso Vaporetto stop is a short walk away, and it is a 40-minute ride to the parking lots at Piazzale Roma square and to Santa Lucia Train Station. Private transportation with a luggage porter can be organized upon request. Hotel Rooms: 82, Hotel Chain: Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

The best part of our stay was the breakfast on the veranda overlooking the Grand Canal. The staff there were very nice, particularly Roberta. Sadly, the second best part of our stay was leaving the hotel as it was otherwise a very unpleasant experience for us. The staff was very snobbish and aloof, with the leading example being the resident manager, Jonathan. Dismissive, unhelpful and condescending. For the amount of money we were charged-over $1000 per night, this was a two star hotel experience. Not even in the same planetary system with other 5 star resorts we've enjoyed.

This hotel is wonderful. The location is a 1 minute walk from St. Mark's Square and backs onto the Grand Canal. Our room was beautifully decorated and furnished, The marble bathroom large and luxurious with jacuzzi bath and shower. The view from the terrace restuarant and the rooftop breakfast room is spectacular. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The quality of the breakfast in what is a luxury hotel left a little to be desired. It was a hot and cold buffet style which was very fresh and well cooked however for 50 euro's it is not unreasonable to expect to be able to choose from a selection of freshly prepared dishes with waiter service. Having said that, the view from the rooftop restaurant overlooking Santa Maria della Salute does make up for the lack of quality.

Nothing whatsoever!! The conscierge was so arrogant when we asked for direction( the tallest man there),the check out officer was not friendly either, and buffet breakfast sooo poor in variety. The waitresses and the chef were also arrogant! We just can not believe how such a magnificent hotel do not know how to train their staff to be courteus and friendly !! We will definitely bypass this hotel next time we visit Venice !! Such a shame for a great hotel.

The hotel is very convenient for St Marks Square, but the Buaer was even more convenient. At a cost of £540 per room it would have been nice to see the canal instead of a dark blank wall. I suppose drinks were on a par with other hotels, but a simple one course lunch with drinks was approx £200 which was excessive for what we had. The reception staff were excellent and very helpful, but I'm not sure that the cost was worth it.

Fabulous location, high end rooms Awkward separation between Bauer hotel and il Palazzo; slightly over engineered check in and check out procedures.

Il Palazzo is a separate wing of the Bauer with a private lobby (on the Grand Canal). Breakfast is served on the terrace (7th floor) with a great view of Venice and the Grand Canal. We stayed at a suite with a living room and a bedroom, everything was very comfortable and finely decorated, the bathroom huge all in marble. The staff is outstanding, they are ready to help you and to do whatever you ask them. The location is great, 3 minutes walk from San Marco and 2 min walk from the vaporetto.

The Bauer is a luxury hotel with elegance, history and an appropriate sense of place in Venice. We've often stayed in the Danieli in Venice which is also beautiful, however the staff at the Bauer are friendlier and the hotel is more user friendly.

This is a fantastic hotel. The staff is very accommodating, helpful and dedicated to providing the first class service one expects at a true five star facility. I would put this Hotel's location, ambiance, and service in the world class category. I would definitely like to stay in the Hotel again if we ever get to Venice again..! Lobby is understated compared to rest of the Hotel.

We, 4-persons group, kept 1 Deluxe Suite and 1 Deluxe Double Room of this hotel for 2 nights including the high-quarity breakfast for every mornings this August. I'm very glad to make reservation of such fabulous rooms through booking.com, because everything was fantastic experience in this gourgeous, historical hotel. All staffs were very friendly, and did good jobs about arranging and making reconfirmation. The drainage of the bath tab was not so good.

Everything was perfect. We ate at the excellent restaurant on the Grand Canal but the best thing was the breakfast on the terrace on top of the palace: the view was really breathtaking.

Truly luxury old/new fashion hotel , profational staffs , comfort room with a good view off grand canal . Didn't got the view I expected (as I asked for), maybe because I booked at the last minute? ...Considering 5 stars hotel keeping special rooms for special cases...

Wonderful, 9
Score from 727 reviews
“San Clemente is an oasis of tranquillity within of the bustle of Venice. We thoroughly enjoyed the 5 star comfort in the beautiful and quiet historic surroundings. Despite being on an island, it was convenient to reach all the tourist attractions as the hotel provides a comfortable water shuttle service to San Marco that runs every 20 mins and is no more than a 15 minute trip. Helpful and friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.” Fay, Newlands, Cape Town |
