-Staff very friendly and helpful - Great breakfast with fantastic views - spacious room - fantastic location
- had to go from ground to floor 1 then take another lift to the required floor
location great breakfast good
noisy air con jaded furnishing in room not worth the money was expecting better glad we didnt pay full price of over 1000 pounds
restaurants here look out onto the grand canal and the food was excellent. Staff at hotel went out of their way to please you. A holiday you will remember for a long time. Shame I came home 2 days to early or I would have seen George Clooney.
Staff were very polite.
Room was so far at the back that there was a very long walk from the lobby to the room and need to change elevators from lobby to get to the room. The section we stayed at looked old and dingy compared to a newer section on the opposite side.
Great location and standard of accommodation However lacked a bar and lounge areas Very efficient staff
We had an amazing stay, we booked this for our wedding night, the staff couldn't be more helpful, the suite was magnificent with a stunning view over the salute church. If you want Venetian grandeur at it's finest then look no further.
Classic decorated hotel. Location great with views over the grand canal, staff is very formal but nice, very clean, the consierge guy is fantastic
Rooms are classic but can be seen as slightly outdated, although its a good hotel pricing 500+ was too much, 1 shirt pressing €28,-, breakfast with fantastic view but birds eating from plates and staff threating them as their own
The location was excellent and the staff, without exception, were friendly and helpful.
It is a pity there is no pool - I had mistakenly thought the spa contained one.
Everything - location, style, bedroom suite, views, service breakfast
Food in restaurant not as good as we would have wished at that standard of hotel, but maybe they had an off day. Location stunning
Proximity to main attractions, shopping, and piazzas.
Small tv, furniture border on antiques, and breakfast offering leaves a lot to be desired.
The romms of the hotel are specious. We satyed at the rooms in the highiest floor, the view was amazing.
location staff breakfast buffet
shabby in areas in some rooms, you can hear from room to room esp in bathroom
Location was great - Saint Marks square was a minutes walk, the concert hall 5mins, it's boat jetty was very convenient for transfers to airport or railway station. Access by two entrances - one street and one on grand canal Staff very professional, helpful and friendly Good wifi Rooms were beautifully decorated and furnished. The lift from the lobby was a show piece There is a wonderful story about the Bauer Il Palazzo and Palladio - the building, the owner and the hotel today. You can feel her warm and purposeful presence ! The breakfast terrace was stunning in July - breath taking views of San Marco and the basin in front We booked lunch at sister hotel Palladio across the lagoon. This garden dining was a welcome break from the bustle of the Grand canal and San Marco. Food and wine was excellent, staff professional, discrete and attentive We met some Hollywood celebrities - which is a rare and bonus event for us residing in Mauritius! It was perfect for our 12th anniversary getaway - memorable and romantic, a true Venetian experience! Thanks!!
Was very expensive, but then Venice is very expensive
This a a great hotel with beautiful rooms. The staff is professional, courteous and very helpfull. Concierge service is excellent. I believe it was a gentleman named Carlo who gave us excellent service It was the same concierge who also made reservations for us at Trattoria alla Madonna on July 17(Frank and Adelina Baglione).
I have stayed at this hotel since it was called the Bauer Grunwald. Later, I began staying at the Baglioni (in part because I share a similar surname but unfortunately not the same family) because it provided somewhat friendlier service. For example, the Bauer had once charged a fee for a water taxi to Murano while on our next visit the Baglioni hotel did not. That was about ten years ago and perhaps it has changed. Also while the concierage service was good, one advised us to try the public gondola service, but I am happy that later, (I believe it was Carlo) explained to us that for the service and cost, we would be better off taking the Gondola from the hotel dock. I believe I remember his name as Carlo -- he also made reservations for us at Trattoria alla Madonna for us on July 17(Frank and Adelina Baglione).
We had two non lagoon view suites on the 6th floor. 1st class facilities. Very quiet. Ideal for our 3 day stay in Venice. Breakfast on the 7th floor exceptional with wonderful staff and amazing views over Venice.
We had lunch on the terrace De Pisis restaurant on our first day. Great view but nothing else to recommend it. Service dreadful - orders not taken properly, wrong food delivered culminating in long wait for lunch. Which, when it did arrive was very disappointing. Risotto okay but fried fish from the lagoon was really not good. We didn't eat in the hotel for the rest of our stay!
We were upgraded to a bigger suite which was very comfortable. The location is very nice overlooking the canal and the hotel is easily accessed.
The staff are all set to make commissions on your back and not at all interested in providing you with the right info. Upon checking in around 4pm, the concierge told us that all restaurants stopped serving food except one where he could call and reserve(commission for him) or else we could eat in the hotel. We did the latter and ended up paying 180 euros for a couple of salads and sandwiches. The next day while strolling around venice we found out ALL restaurants served food all the time and wouldn't allow us to have a table for coffee without eating as well!! Next, the concierge told us the gondola costs 120 euros and should be reserved in advance to avoid long waiting queues. We didn't listen and found 100 meters away from the hotel a gondola station where there was absolutely no waiting time and payed 80 euros for the ride. From then onward we stopped asking the concierge any info which is a shame. A 5 star hotel staff should be there to help at best not rip you off at best. I have to exclude from that the 2 ladies in the breakfast terrace which were very attentive and helpful.
Great room with excellent view.
Very expensive. Guests were primarily English speakers of the snooty variety
My suite was just magnificent. The view stunning and I would say unrivalled in all of Venice. It was just THE most perfect and magical time. Also the water boat ride to the airport from your own dock was just the most wonderful way to leave the hotel and Venice. This was not my first visit and it will not be my last Thank you for a truly amazing visit It will long stay in my memory.
Absolutely nothing all was perfect.
The location was perfect giving easy access to all the central attractions and was convenient for the boat services.
Great location. Friendly and helpful concierge.
Internet not functioning most of the time during the stay and staff being very unresponsive to remedy this situation - they could solve it with a mini-router but it took a whole afternoon and a lot of hassle to finally correct it. It is unfortunate because I like this hotel, but one expects a functioning internet connection from a five star hotel. It was not just in the room, there was a continuous breakdown of Internet in all areas of the hotel. There was a solution (alternative network with mini-router) but for hours the staff was unresponsive to get a mini-router to the room. This could have been solved promptly to everyone's satisfaction. Too bad some people didn't seem to care and lacked a sense of urgency.
The Bauer Il Palazzo was indeed a delightful luxury travel stay with an amazing Venetian "Old World" appeal. Her staff was exceptionally good. Paolo in Concierge was excellent! He made so many of our large family needs easy while in Venice (11 family members in stay) which was no small task. THANK YOU PAOLO ! You are the best! The breakfast wait staff were exceptional. Helpful friendly and so kind to our children and entire family. In room keep was also very attentive to cleanliness and needs with a small child. We simply cannot say enough wonderful things about this delightful stay other than Thank You and we look forward to a return visit to Bauer one day again soon.
The location was great.
Hotel was very old and in need of renovation. the carpet was old and thread bare. Staff was not very knowledgeable. We were told we could get something to eat at the bar. about 10pm after we arrived. The bar was ready to close and we had to arder room service. The hotel and prices are expensive. we travelled through Europe and stayed at four and five star hotels along the way. I would rate this a three due to the location.
