Full of character (decaying grandeur) - friendly and helpful staff - central location - clean room - tasty breakfast - I liked the pictures on the wall.

I loved this place. I could have stayed here for weeks and I want to bring my family back here. The rooms are large, our room had a view of the Duomo and it was quiete and private as it was in a courtyard. The staff were fantastic, the atmosphere was really chilled out. It reminded me of the room in the movie "a Room with a View". The bells rang in the morning at 7am and the swallows circled around early and I watched them as I woke up. Breakfast was simple but good; yoghurt, canned fruit?, Cheeses, cereals, juice, jams, bread roles, tea and coffee - no hot chocolate. We stayed in room no 6 with a shower but no bathroom. There are other rooms that have private bath and shower and are very big - no 20 I think. Location was fantastic as it was right near the Duomo There was no lift so we had to walk with heavy bags up three flights of stairs. We were ok with this but not if you are less able. No air conditioning but the windows let in plenty of air and there is a fan in the room...but I am from Australia so this might be a problem for some people.

the location was great breakfast was good and the ladies (staff) were friendly and kept everything clean up 4 flights of stairs no lift very cold, heating was only turned on from 5pm and not always then, it was -3 deg one night and -2 deg the others so this was not good enough for us. Also wife was sick and had to stay in hotel for 2 days with no heating. the hot water oftern did not have enough pressure or heat to have a shower. There are no smoking signs in the hotel but the hotel was always full of smoke. This also made things unpleaseant and aggravated all of our coughs. Seems the no smoking signs only apply to tourists and not the staff.

Near city centre and shopping distract The hotel is on the second floor and there is no lift, if you have many luggage like us,it might be a good idea to live here. Breakfast has less choice, only bread and cornflakes. During the peak hour of bathing, there is no hot water..we need to wait until 1am to bath. No wifi signal in the room, you need to go out to the breakfast area for Internet

I like the fact that the rooms were very huge, a lot of space to unpack and relax. Also, breakfast was delicious. The private rooms had a really high ceiling and was really cool, but not too cold even during winter. The place was clean and comfortable. Lastly, the staff were very friendly and forthcoming making everyone feel at home. The warm water for bathing ran out in the private room. We could however still use the common bathroom if we needed warm water.

The location is excellent. The staff was great as well as the ancient atmosphere of the building. The common bathroom was a small problem but not critical.

We would highly recommend staying at the Hotel Bavaria. Friendly, helpful staff ready to answer our questions and also helped book us on a fantastic Tuscany day trip. Our room for four was especially large with very comfortable beds and wonderful views of the Duomo..yes a room with a view! The hotel itself is part of a sixteen century residence and apart from their rooms, all guests have access to a grand common room complete with soaring high beamed ceiling. Wifi access is available in the common and breakfast rooms. Breakfast is more than ample with cereals, fruit, yoghurt, rolls, cheese spread, jams, juice, tea and coffee. The granola with choc chips got the thumbs up from all of us. The location is perfect for walking all round the main attractions including satisfying all those shopping and dining needs. If lugging bags, I would suggest the c1 bus or taxi but otherwise it is an easy 10 minute walk from the station. While not causing us any problems, it should be noted that from the street, the Hotel is on the second and third floors so at least 80 steps up so less mobile travelers need to take note. We would definitely stay here again. Signage of the hotel is above head height on the right of the entrance at number 26 and shares the mainentrance with an art gallery the floor below. The hot water in our room was temperamental and took a little getting used to and may not reflect all rooms however this was not significant and would not prevent me recommending this hotel or staying here again.

Great Staff, very friendly and helpfull. Everything was nice and well taken care of. The location is awesome. Its just one block away from the Duomo. The only "bad" thing is that there are no suite bathrooms, but considering the price, I cant complain abaout that.

A no frills establishment worth the price and location. The heating units do not heat the rooms well. Use plenty of blankets and you will manage.

Hotel has the best location. It's very antique building. You can feel yourself originaly from Florence because of hotel is on 3d floor of city residence. It was end of October and it was very cold in the room.

Great hotel, fantastic room with double (or triple even!) height ceilings and a decent breakfast. Definitely recommended! I suppose that the only thing that I would suggest would be a deep clean in the bathroom as it was not spotless.

I think the location is excellent and the rooms are clean, basic but cozy. I didn´t like the breakfast. They had fruit salad from a can, no fresh fruits. The bread was awful. There was no ham nor cheese.

The room is big, very very big..... The location is good, just behind duomo, I can see the dome through the windows in bedroom and bathroom. The shower water on the top floor is not that stable, hot water usually lasts no more than 10 mins.... WIFI is not reachable in bedroom, but only in dinning room at reception area

Best of all I liked the interior and exterior of this palazzo, located very close to everything interesting in Florence. You can really feel the spirit of this romantic town living there. For this hotel type service was excellent and organized clever and smart, e.g. the reception worked 24 hour, breakfasts were nice, the staff spoke english and was extremely obliging. Next time in Florence I'll choose Hotel Bavaria for sure.
