Bed and Breakfast Adelberga

Located right in the historic center (10-15 min on foot from the station), this place is fully equipped, very cosy but elegant, and with a very helpful host. Actually, it was a faultless stay. Definitely recommended.

Short walk from the raiway/bus station.Salerno had a good feeling to move around.B&B facilities were fine for a traveller.My thanks to the owner of his help and suggesting a local nice restaurant,Angolo Masuccio.

Very clean, comfortable accommodation. We enjoyed meeting Ludovico and his family. the B&B is very convenient to shopping in the old section of Salerno. Ditto for the Duomo and other historical sites. Ludovico found us a really good restaurant.

The B&B was hard to find at first (no obvious sign displayed), and it is located on a dark, narrow street that sports a lot of graffiti, giving it a scary first impression...but once we were inside the front door all of that changed--for the better.

The owner was extremely friendly and helpful in providing information and a map of Salerno. The accommodation is beautifully set up and my stay was luxurious - definitely value for money and the breakfast was superb.

Very central location in the old town close to shops, bars etc and easy to find walking from the station or port. The room was perfect, large size, comfortable and excellent bathroom, the owners are very friendly, provided plenty of information on the area and there is also a great choice for breakfast. I would highly recommend staying here if in Salerno

The location was excellent. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The room was large and the bathroom was beautiful. The breakfast each morning was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.

It was hard to find at first. Our cab driver couldn't get us very close to the property, so we had to walk a way and ask a few people for directions. However, once we knew our way around better this was not a problem.

Fantastic service. We arrived and needed to sort out a medicial problem. Within an hour they had a dentist appointment and transport arranged. Youd never recieve this sort of assistance at another B+B or hotel.

Charming hotel with terrific personal service provided by the owner, located in a charming part of the old city of Salerno. It is steps from the city's glorious waterfront and conveniently located amidst a lively retail and restaurant district. Recently opened, the bedrooms and common space, including the big open living room / dining room available to guests, has the freshness of newness but are furnished with many antique pieces arranged with great taste. The owner Ludovico wears a winning smile and offers cheerful help to even the most disoriented guests.There appear to be many fine hotels in Salerno, but the Bread and Breakfast Adelberga will give you something many of the others surely cannot, an immersive that will let you snuggle up to Italy.

Some bedrooms are unairconditioned. Salerno can get very hot in midsummer. It is humid and although spread along a gorgeous Mediterranean oceanfront it enjoys none of the regular sea breezes that travelers familiar with North America's coasts might expect. If you will be uncomfortable without air conditioning, make sure you specify that you want one of the Adelberga's air conditioned bedrooms. The Adelberga is in a traffic-restricted neighborhood on a street so narrow two motor scooters cannot pass. The backstreet charm is a delight, and the quiet it affords at night might tempt you to care less about the air conditioning and open the big floor-to-ceiling windows to enjoy the tranquility. But there is no on-site parking. Owner Ludovico maintains car storage facilities for his guests at a garage in another part of town and has a driver ready at a moment's notice to transport you to park and retrieve your car. This works very seamlessly, but if you arriving in Salerno by car for the first time and do not know your way around, it is better to make advance arrangements with Ludovico to have his driver meet you at a central location in the city, easy to find from the autostrata, and lead you to the parking garage. You will never find it on your own.

Centrally located, a well run B&B with a difference, owner Ludivico and wife offers a welcoming service and provide all the information around town, they even helped us to book a restaurant locally. Place is clean, new, lovely, and breakfast included, and wifi is included.

The hotel comfortable, the staff is responsive and answer questions. Primarily speak Italian. Ride out of the city along the coast to the ferry towards Amalfi, Positano.

They did not want to accept payment by credit card, we had to pay cash. Although I was determined positively, the city seemed to me without a beach resort and mood. Quiet. Evening walks a lot of local young people, but the disco in the center was found. By 23-24 hours local youth began to go home.

Fabulous place! Ludovico and Annalia were wonderful hosts, they made my stay so easy and enjoyable. Every morning breakfast and cappuchino was prepared for me in the dining room. The place was extremely clean and quiet. I will stay there again next time I visit Salerno. Highly recommend!!

A very nice hotel for a reasonable money. The design was unexpectedly good. And a very-very-very friendly staff.

There is bathroom in each room. The breakfast is in family stile. Hosts are well-wishing and attentive. Thank them them for good staying.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The young couple innkeepers are both charming and helpful. They created a lovely home in their recent remodel. It was so quiet and peaceful, even though it was right off the main shopping street, via mercanti. It could not be a more convenient location with train and bus stations and ferry port just a 10 minute walk away. We also highly recommend staying in the real, authentic town of Salerno while visiting the heavily touristed Amalfi coast. And this inn is the perfect location. Both innkeepers kept asking if everything was okay and really wanted us t enjoy the stay. It was lovely coming back to a fruit plate each evening in our room, which was a nice touch. We would definitely stay again.

Ludovico la Scala and his lovely wife are running the place.They are awesome, trying to make sure, that we enjoyed our stay.We had a late check in and Ludovico was very prompted to our e-mails and even met us on the street to show the way to B&B. Excellent location in the old part of the city, you can walk everywhere, lots of restaurants around. Big room and huge contemporary bathroom.

It was comfortable enough for one night.

-Sliding shower door missing a panel so water sprayed out onto floor. -No one is there at night; you're given three keys on a key ring - one for the door downstairs (from the street), one for the door to the b&b and one for the door to your room which is a skeleton key and fits all bedroom doors (we tried it-opened our friend's door with our key! Not safe). Host supplies you with his phone number. -Their site states that it is in an area that is "restricted" but, since we were going to stay there, we assumed that we would be able to at least pull up to the door to drop off bags. That was not a possibility with our rental van. Host told us, when we finally were inside (we think we will be getting a ticket for driving on their street), that most people come by train - about 1 mile away! -Apropos last observation: host explained that we'd been emailed the day before to tell us we should call and they would come to meet us so we could be led to parking (which turned out to be a storage unit quite a distance away!) Since we don't check emails often while on vacation, we didn't get the message. I'd booked in January - plenty of time to have filled us in about this important info which should, we think, be included on their site.

The Good:  This B&B delivers a good experience if you are willing to accept its rules.  It offers: 1) A very nice home in an excellent location, 10 minutes walk from the Salerno train station. 2) The room and bed were excellent and it was quiet until about 8:00 a.m. , when outside construction work started. 3) Everything was very clean and the daily maid service was excellent. 4. The room has a little refrigerator stocked with  reasonably priced drinks and a small flat-screen TV. 5)The breakfast was very good. 6) The owner and his wife are very friendly.  His Italian-English is adequate, but his wife does not speak English.

The bad:  This B&B's primary guests are local Italians, so it operates with rules that are most convenient for them. 1. It is very difficult to locate the first time.  Even taxi drivers cannot find it using only the address.  If you have a cell phone that works in Italy, you can call the owner and he will guide you to it. 2. The preferred arrival time is 11:00-12:00 in the morning, but can be negotiated in advance.  If you are going to arrive late, you must notify the owner. 3. The owner is happy to recommend local attractions, but his verbal directions can be difficult for a non-local to remember.  I suggested he provide written directions in English, with a simple map if possible.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the stay here. We stayed in the Adelberga Room which was a newly remodeled room done with wonderful taste (the bathroom was superb! Really! Footed tub, double sinks, new tile...), and the room has a balcony overlooking one of Salerno's many tiny streets which provided a nice view of the "quaint" part of Salerno (nothing seedy or tacky in view). It was spacious and cozy at the same time, as well as warm, comfortable, and very friendly - Ludovico and Annalia made sure to ask us every day if everything was all right (it was!), and they also helped us with schedules for trains and buses, day-trip ideas, and even the resizing of my girlfriend's engagement ring. All in all, a fantastic place to stay and very good people running it who will take care of you with great love and joy. From the hotel it is also just a short walk through the very small streets to any number of restaurants or bars. We took a walk up the hillside past old churches and hidden alleys to get a wonderful view of the city and sea at sunset. Just thinking of our stay in Salerno and at Adelberga makes me smile - and that's always a good sign!

Can not imagine a better way to experience Salerno. Charming neighborhood filled with life and good personality. Annalia and Ludovico are doing everything to make you feel at home and introduce you to the city. The bathroom is second to none and we’ll never forget it. Parking is a challenge. Park 3-4 kilometers away from downtown and take the bus back.
