눉Where to begin?
First, we paid 100% of everything up front and the estimate that we were to be charged was charged to my card months in advance. When we arrive, we had to sit outside the door to the office (despite calling ahead and giving updates on arrival time which remained unchanged) only to wait about 20 minutes for a guy from the pizza shop around the corner to come check us in. This is where I should have started getting suspicious.
As we're checking in, he informs me the city tax of close to 20 euro has not been paid, despite our confirmation clearly stating it was included. Anytime I brought something up that was disagreeable to him, his level of English comprehension went from superb to non-English speaker. I have a distinct feeling that our money went into this guy’s pocket. Additionally, when we booked we were told internet was not available, but apparently it was.. for a 1 euro/day fee according to our greeter. So we coughed up an extra 3 euro willingly for our whole stay (more about this later). Furthermore, breakfast was provided as originally mentioned in the confirmation, but it was located somewhere else other than at the B&B. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to walking, especially in Venice, it just was not as advertised. After we finally gave up and paid the fee, which I had already paid according to my understanding, Booking.com's confirmation sheet and my credit card statement - we went to see "our" room.
What I mean by "our" room is that when booking the room, I confirmed by e-mail with the hotel that in fact we had the specific room in the picture. "I wanted to confirm that this is the room we would be getting? I attached the picture I saw on the website. We booked the double room with the external bathroom and canal view." In response to that e-mail, I got a response confirming that was the room.
눇Only thing good about this place, and that depends on your
We had bigger bags than we should have brought, and were driving across Europe. It's proximity to the train station and parking garages was the only plus.
If you're talking about proximity to major sites, that would be a negative part to the experience (along with the other many negatives)
