The location was perfect. We had the perfect room as well, with a terrace overlooking the valley. Absolutely gorgeous views! And in the morning there was fog visible in the valley which made it even more lovely. An easy walk around town and easy in and out from the parking lot. The receptions staff were very helpful. The breakfast was also very nice and everything we could have wanted.

The room was not well decorated and without the terrace and view would have been extremely depressing. The bathroom had tiny ants crawling around and mildew along the shower fittings. There was considerable noise during the night from people walking on the floor above. All of the places we stayed during our trip in Italy did not have carpeting but none were this noisy.

I love eating at the Bel Soggiorno - the food is delicious, the staff are lovely, the service is exceptional and the view is wonderful. So whenever I am on my own in Tuscany and around San Gimignano, I stay at the hotel to take advantage of the restaurant. Some of the rooms have access to a terrace with the same view as the restaurant, a lovely place to sit and relax.

The bathrooms could do with a little updating.

The hotel is in a great location, it is situated wiithin the city walls just as you enter the city. We had a beautiful country view room which had a shared veranda. The room itself was very basic with the smallest shower in the world which was a task to use. The furnishings are very dated and could do with updating. Some would say "typical Tuscan" but we have stayed in very nice typical Tuscan rooms and this room was just "dated". The breakfast was very good, continental, with amazing views again over the hills. Good coffee and friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel, but it is expensive for what you get.

i love the view of the Tuscan scenery from our room and the dining area has an amazing view as well. the location was perfect, inside the walled city yet have its own privacy and accessible to shops and restaurants.

the room was too dull. no touch of the Tuscan design. On the picture I had the impression that our room has it's own balcony overlooking the mountain view but disappointed to see it's only a window.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. It is just inside the walls of San Gimignano so easy to reach with your luggage (there is no parking inside San Gimignano) and the view of the Tuscan countryside is spectacular. Pay the little bit extra to secure a room with a view; we found that sitting on the balcony taking in the view was well worth it.The town itself is amazing - we were glad that we decided to stay there instead of just taking a day trip and this hotel was a great place from which to explore the town. We also did a day trip to a nearby wine farm.The room was clean, comfortable and air-conditioned - a necessity during the summer. The breakfast was good and the view from the dining room fantastic.

The bath was tiny (half a bath really!) and the towels strange little napkin type cloths. The staff was helpful when we approached them with requests but not very friendly. However, these are minor issues and would not prevent me from returning.

A very nice Hotel situated just inside the walls of San Gimignano, we were allocated a delightful room on the first floor with double windows onto a narrow balcony with beautiful and extensive views of the Tuscany countryside, vineyards and olive trees in abundance The facilities provided were most satisfactory, as were the staff looking after the guests a beautiful Hotel in a super location, in proximity to Siena, Florence and of course the Chianti countryside Car parking arrangements were excellent

The quality of food in the restaurant could be improved and change of menu considered I have no further criticism of this lovely Hotel

Very friendly staff and always ready to help. The location was perfect. Breakfast was terrific with with a great view to start the day.

The location was great, just inside of the walls and even though our room overlooked the main street it wasn't noisy in the evening.

Our room had airconditioning but it was really quite weak.

The hotel is at a really good location, close enough to the bus stop and close to the main square.

The room can really do with a small hospitality tray and also another mirror in the room. The staff was very rude.

This hotel is just 3-4 blocks at the entrance of city wall.Its perfect for exploring the city. 2Nd public parking near 400m (5 min Walk) for 6 Euros a day. Drop off your baggage by a little street behind the hotel. Or roll it by the entrance ;but not during the day , its full of tourists in the street. Very nice view restaurant (breakfast). If you pay for a room with a terrasse ,its a superbe view on the valley. Good idea for lunch there ,and in the afternoon to relax away from the peak period of tourist arrival. Specialy in week end. We enjoy very much this hotel.Its a luxury hotel but dont forget that you are in a medieval town.

In a medieval town its perfect. But a drop off zone for luggages would be better.

Visit date- Apr 28-30,2012. temp cool. Charming, old-world culture.Location was perfect for leisurely strolls through the town. The attached restaurant offered a beautiful vista over the surrounding countryside. Lots of ambience for evening dining. Very substantial breakfasts were served here as well. staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were small but adequate. We found the shops in San Gimignano offered the best variety of leather goods and prices were more reasonable than anywhere else as we travelled throughout Tuscany to Rome. We regretted not purchasing our handbags, belts and leather jackets there. All our accommodations were booked through booking.com. Every location met our expectations, and all reservations were as described on booking.com website.

Know where you are going! Be sure you are at the right gate for entrance to the city.The streets are narrow and you really do not want to take a car into the city even to drop off luggage. There are no lifts and you must climb stairs with your luggage.Travel light..we didn't ! Hotel is only a short distance from the back entrance. Ask for a room in the back of the hotel. Our room overlooked the main street and at 6:00am each morning the trash and wine bottles are collected. It sounded like a bottle recycling location!
