The staff is perfectly cordial, speak excellent english, and man the front desk full time, but it's not particularly service oriented if you are looking for a concierge service. As they warn you, you must drag your own bags up steep stone steps to get to the front door of the hotel, there is no porter, and their job is mostly to handle reservations and other business of the hotel. Small annoyance, there is no fridge.
This is the only place we stay in Como. It's right off the main street, a few hundred yards from where you you disembark the ferry. All of Bellagio is walking distance away. Book a room with a view of the lake and you will be greeted by stunning views of Como and the Alps. The decor is simple, modern seaside-appropriate, nothing elaborate, but clean and functional, with the bathrooms modern and well appointed. The balcony has chairs and enough room to set out a deli lunch bought in one of the stores in town while you enjoy the gorgeous view of the water and the ferries coming and going. The price is very reasonable, you could stay at a fancier hotel with identical views for easily 4 times the price.
