Friendly staff who were fabulously courteous and bent over backwards to help us (apart from one young woman who was a little abrupt), Venetian styled room, outdoor patio area, breakfast was very Italian and continental, lots of choice and plenty of coffee and English Tea, earl grey or herbal fruit teas. Towels changed and beds made every day. Breakfast from 7.30 until 10.30 if we slept in later. Location is truly amazing and literally 30 steps from Zattere Vaporetta (water taxi stop). We loved our holiday! Hotel was great but our only single thing we didnt like was we hadnt realised even after we emailed the hotel and the booking engine that the Zattere Vaporetta stop didnt run after 9pm and we had to walk from San Marco to the hotel(25mins). The website should tell guests that it costs 25 euros each from Aerporta to Zattere or San Marco on the Ali Laguna public transport line. We wish we had known that. We would still recommend the hotel.

Location was excellent, quiet yet near to centre and transport links Shabby. Mould in shower, broken shower fitting, extractor fan didn't work, toilet stained, curtains didn't close, room smelled damp. Air con not adjustable. Skimping on breakfast meant not enough to go round and I could only get a bread roll. Not enough staff to clear tables. Credit card machine not working, had to pay cash. This is being run down with a lack of investment but for 80 euros was ok for location

I really appreciated the quality of the service personnel, as well as cleanness of the whole hotel and the quality of the breakfast. The hotel needs to introduce satellite channels and wifi in the rooms.

Nothing except location The security was non existant! You could leave your bags in an open unattended room. Your problem if something was missing. Breakfast was very limited. Hotel room small and staff left their master keys in our door! No internet although there was advertizement that it was available. No one could help with luggage.

the location is great the staff was incredibly rude, I left the bag in the morning at the check-in desk prior to my check-in, and when I came back in the afternoon I was told 'go and pick it up yourself' and I had not even an idea of where the luggage room was; the staff has been incredibly unfriendly also at night when I asked for a restaurant open at that time (10.30pm).I'd like to mention that this was not a problem of language as I'm italian. in addition, I reserved for a double bed and found two single beds one next to each other (awful), and the bathroom was for disabled people, which is not my case; so definitely an annoying experience and too costly (240E per night) for such a service and rudeness of the staff.

The hotel's two strong points are a superb location and an entry off the street which is very classy and wonderfully conceived. The hotel had come recommended to us on its entrance alone. While we appreciate the desirability of Venice as a location and congratulate a hotel for achieving a good room rate for a Saturday night, what we were charged was not only disproportionately high given the very small bedroom and the service quality on offer, but was far higher -- for what we got -- than anything we have received in much better hotels elsewhere in the world. What made it worse was the sense that we were "making up the margin" on a hotel trading heavily on volume bookings, which created a service ambience that does this hotel no favours. The service staff end up rushed and far more impersonal than discerning travellers will recall from better hotels. The Belle Arti has lost touch with its target market and is going for volume traffic. Best wishes to them in this, but we will not return there.

The location was great, but not with a canal view. However the phone in the room did not work and it took them three days to address this, all that was required was a replacement, but they did not even look at it for Three days despite my repeated reporting it.

Rooms are not all as large and inviting as represented in the website. Plus, on the second night of my staying, hot water went off 'till the morning after, when I informed the receptionist.

“Excellent location - literally minutes away from the Accademia vaporetto, bridge, and gallery - offering a quiet and secluded haven from the daily crowds of other tourists. The gardens front and rear are particularly fine and relaxing. The service provided was superlative, with the staff most friendly and helpful. I can well understand the high reputation this hotel enjoys, and why people choose to return. All in all, a great base from which to explore the city of Venice and its various 'sestieri'.” Richard, Chester |
