We were traveling with our dog since the hotel is advertised as pet friendly. He was, in fact, allowed in the room, but he was forbidden everywhere else in the hotel, including the terrace. Because the hotel is situated on a cliff and the winding roads are dangerous for pedestrians, it was very difficult to walk him anywhere. We also got the sense that the staff were displeased that we had the dog with us. Every other place we have stayed in Italy has embraced him and adored him. Overall, the staff were not very friendly (aside from the very kind waiter mentioned already) and seemed a little elitist--we didn't fit the mold of their typical guest: older, rich, and stuffy.
The hotel is situated on a stunning cliff side with a gorgeous view from the rooms, the terrace, and the pool. The room was well decorated, clean, and spacious. One of the waiters at breakfast (an LA Lakers basketball fan) was incredibly friendly and helpful.
