From the location to the fantastic breakfast, my stay was enjoyable. I booked a single which was a nice size. It had a large bathroom with shower and was very clean. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Staff also very friendly and accommodating.
Location Staff Views Terraces
Small single bed
Terraces and common areas were great, breakfast very good, staff very friendly
the whole Hotel just great for us that is why we have been there 3 times
Central location Helpful & friendly staff
More signposts would have been useful - quite tricky to find in a car
Clean, efficient, professional. Excellent location for reaching any part of town on foot easily. Once inside, most of the hotel is "far" from the outside noise and hustle. Full breakfast (worth if included). Not a boutique hotel nor with a particularly refined interior - does its job well.
Use of old fashion key. Flimsy door and window closure if you're focused on security. TV too small to be seen comfortable and no English audio track selection (even if available on channel) - as this is an international chain.
Breakfast Terraces Close to main sights Clean
Location was excellent. Room very comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Very nice outdoor terraces.
It was hot and there was no shade available on the terraces. They would benefit from having umbrellas.
The location is excellent, staff are helpful and breakfast is perfect.
Glorious terrace for pre dinner drinks. Close to lots of restaurants and shops and all the main tourist destinations.
SatNav was wonderful to navigate the narrow one-way system
Polite staff and location is perfect...will definitely stay again in this hotel...I have to thank Rhoda, abul and margarita...Front desk crew and all the staff, I salute you for an excellent service
Location could not be better and the staff polite and helpful
Very very noisy at night, decor is tired and disparate for an update.
The location right at the heart of the old city. The wonderful views from the roof terrace. Very good breakfast.
Rooms a little tired-looking,nothing to make the hotel really special. No wifi in rooms, and you have to keep logging on again to the wifi in the public areas.
Good location, great breakfast
Little bit old fashioned rooms
Staff, location, rooftop patios
Nothing to complain about except the graffiti in bologna.
Location was great and good breakfast.
Room was very dated, basic and small. Shower blocked on every use.
Wi-fi is difficult to work in the room or in several locations of the hotel.
Breakfast buffet, they serve good coffee according to your wishes. Location. View. Silent nights. Spacious (Bath)room Room with terrace Historic atmosphere
Just bath no shower cabin Rooftop bar limited opening times
Perfect location, friendly staff, clean and great value for money. After 2 so and so hotels in Roma and Florence this hotel in Bologna was the Italian hotels' pleasant surprise. Breakfast a surprise too: really generous for the money you pay.
nice location, big rooms, nice rooftop terrace
a bit old interior
ONLY POSITIVE ASPECT WAS THE LOCATION, VERY CLOSE TO THE TOWERS
- OUR DOOR WAS COMPLETELY OPEN AFTER WE DID OUR CHECK-IN WHEN WE LATER CAME BACK TO THE ROOM - BED AND MATTRESS WERE HORRIBLE, LEANING TOWARDS ONE SIDE
Perfect location. Friendly, helpful staff. Vey good breakfast buffet.
At first glance the Hotel San Donato looks pretty plain, but once you pull in you realise that it is a beautifully renovated property with good sized rooms which are clean, having comfortable beds, small but clean bathrooms, a beautiful walled garden to relax in after a days traveling and very good breakfast menu, the food is prepared by the managers wife making breakfast a high lite of the day. An added bonus at the Hotel San Donato is the Restaurant located next door we had dinner there and loved it all meals were prepared with fresh ingredients to a very high standard. My wife and high highly recommend a stay at the Hotel San Donato.
we received a renovated room which was very comfortable and nicely decorated!
-shower leaked into the bathroom - our friend got a single room which was not renovated: he complained that it was not very comfortable staying in this room, and that the shower was very old
Location was perfect. Right in the city centre of everything. Walking distance to all the great places you wanna visit, clothes, shoes, touristed places, museums etc. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Lovely and helpful english speaking receptionists. Lovely, kind and super serviceminded staff in the breakfast/bar area. Amazing rooftop terrence (huge) with a great view over the whole city plus 2-3 smaller terrences. A lovely one for breakfast too. Everything was easy and fixed with a kind smile. Breakfast big and variated selection of local food and specialities from the region. Loved it!! Outdoor cafés, shops, gelateria right in front of the main entrance, 5-10 min walk to the big main square, the two tall twin Towers and the amazing church with the famous frescos. 10 min. Walk to the delicatesse shops, funky fashion/design shops and super close to the art academy+shops for arty materials, paper etc.
The extra tax you have to pay for a drink? That I didn't understand, but it seems like a tax all the hotels have to charge...? I paid 11 euro for 1x aperol/aperitivo as you usually pay 5 euros for at the bars/cafees on the street. The hotel rooms seems a bit old, but the comfort is still ok.
