Hotel Borgovico    

Excellent little boutique style hotel. Very comfortable for a short stay. Friendly owners and a nice buffet breakfast. Pleasant individual styled rooms. High quality fittings. On a narrow backstreet / lane with several restaurants otherwise eating means a walk into Como 10-15 mins and not wise if solo in the dark. Como disappointed us though - big busy hub for ferries, tourist buses and traffic. The Lake is high fenced off at city end - not visually attractive at all. Would stay smaller town further along lake outside Como next time.

Close to train station. Nice little hotel, just perfect.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of the train station (although a lot of cobbles to navigate). Rooms and bathrooms are basic, but spacious. The restaurant right next to the hotel is popular for a good reason (nothing to do with the hotel although the name is similar).

We were underwhelmed by this hotel and our "superior" room. Going to bed early or sleeping late was not possible due to noise; constant and irritating noise in the mornings and evenings from the room above as we could hear every movement, noise from the breakfast room in the mornings and noise from trains. Breakfast was mediocre and basic. Certainly the least value for money from 5 hotels in a 15-day tour of Italy.

The walls are very, very thin. You could hear the noises from your neighbors' bathroom.

Close to the train station which was handy for us. It was so easy to find we didn't even need a map. Room had most things you could need, very spacious bathroom.

Didn't really like the street, I think I would choose to stay closer into town next time. We were here in low season though, having to walk in cold, drizzly weather, would probably be fine in summer. This was true for everything in Como, would not recommend going here before April. Our room had some problems with the electricals - plugging one thing in caused another thing to turn off, weird.

The room was nice and clean, the bed was comfortable. The hotel is well kept and nice looking.

Parking is a bit difficult.

Wifi sporadic, parking required a drive to an underground parking 20 euros per day. It is in the middle of the town so its to be expected.

Breakfast was great, there were boiled eggs and large selection of other breakfast items. Hotel was close to the train station, but a further walk from the center of town/shopping. Very nice, helpful staff. Great hotel.

Noisy trains ran from the station behind the hotel. Heating system was noisy (sounded like being in a tumble dryer)and not always possible to control the temperature in your own room. Breakfast was not nice.

Breakfast had very limited selection, supermarket quality. Don't stay here for the view; there isn't any.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel had a homely feel to it so we both felt really comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect, 5 minutes to the train station and about a 10 minute walk to the centre of Como.

The restaurant next door was very good. Friendly staff. Very clean and modern

The locked front door sometimes meant a short wait before it was opened. Traffic along the cobbled road can mean front bedrooms are a little noisy.

Parking was a bit of a problem generally. We took the hotel parking which served us well

Very friendly staff. Despite the fact we have arrived close to midnight there have welcomed us perfectly and provide instant check-in. Good breakfast, clean room, walking distance to the city centre and local pizzerias/pubs.

A bit noisy (may be probelmatic for light sleepers), apart from that great price for value.

I thought the 'boutique style' hotel was very conveniently located to both the lake and the main part of town and within walking distance of all facilities and the train and bus station. The room was very comfortable and clean and had a lot of character. I would highly recommend the Hotel Borgovico to friends or acquaintances planning to visit Lake Como. The staff were most helpful.
