Set in Naples' most historic district, Hotel Il Convento is housed in an ancient building, dating back to the 17th century. Experience a quieter side of Naples in this neighborhood.
Score from 427 reviews Excellent
The hotel is in very good quiet location. It's not dangerous to go out in the evening like in centre of Naples. The rooms are with a beatiful view to the sea. The breakfast was not so good, but in 3* hotel you can't expect the same like in 5*. But it was Ok. The staff of the hotel it's very helpful and very nice to the hotelguests. I'm going to stay there next time and would realy recomend it.
The hotel is a great value for the money, in a very good locations.
It's a great hotel, it's like a great old lady it needs some make up.
We were in Britanique for second time an we will book it for sure on our next stay in Naples. Lovely hotel and friendly staff. Last time(in March) the Internet connection was very slow, but they have fixed this issue between our 2 stays and now the WiFi is working good.
The location is excellent with easy access to finicolar and buses The room size was very spacious Tge staff were friendly and helpful Would definitely sty there again
There is no restaurant serving lunch or dinner Only breakfast service available it was Great
Location is safe.
Room was very small and not that much clean. Not value for money.
Exc location. Splendid Breakfast pretty good. One of 3 concierges v knowledgable and helpful. Most accommodating about our staying an extra night.
Needs a fresh coat if paint
We liked the wonderful view from our bedroom, looking across the bay to Capri. We appreciated the large bathroom & comfortable bed. The public rooms have beautiful traditional furniture. Good value for money. The staff were very friendly & helpful.
Wifi was unreliable at times. The breakfast lacked variety but was acceptable.
Awefull place ignorant people total rip off balcony unsafe on 4th floor was like stepping back to the 70's proper dump
Great views. Good breakfast. Helpful staff
uncomfortable 'double' bed - 2 singles together with large uneven gap
Felt like an hotel that had seen better days but was still comfortable & clean. Good location for the fit as fairly high up the hill. Good value for price we paid. Would consider again.
AirCon not working & needed as situated on a busy noisy road. WiFi unreliable. BBC channels advertised but not available. Could have been more info on use of facilities. Good breakfast.
Great helpful staff, excellent buffet breakfast (with an option of cooked), lots sitting space in the communal areas. Small bar (no alcohol on Monday nights?!) Fantastic views. Terrace on the 5th floor.
The staff were excellent!
Wifi didn't reach her room but we were on holiday so didn't really matter.
Hotel Britannique is a wonderful vintage hotel with tall ceilings, large rooms, large bathrooms and some pieces of wonderful old furniture. We had a double room with 2 balconies both of which had a magnificent view of the gulf of Naples - the one balcony vith a view to Vesuvio and the island of Capri, the other balcony with a view to the islands of Procida and Ischia. It is worth mentioning that the bathroom size was almost as large as the room size of some other hotels. The price to quality ratio was excellent. Actually I am happy that the hotel has not been renovated recently, because after a renovation it could easily be a too expensive 5 star hotel. And now it has a very nice vintage flair. By the way in the past many famous people has been guests of Britannique. For example the hero from the El Alamain battle - General Montgomery. We would stay at Britannique next time when we trip to Naples.
The Internet was extremely slow.
The view outside our room was beautiful and the room size was adequate.
The forniture in the Hotel is very old. It looks like frozen in '70. The breakfast is quite poor: a man asked scrumbled eggs and the waiter told that he will pay an extra for it because it was not included in the standard "continental" breakfast.
view from balcony
very poor internet connection, almost not working at all.
Large room, opening balcony, good views of Bay of Naples
The considerable distance from central Naples is exacerbated by the long walk to the nearest public transport (Piazza Amedeo).
The view from our room of the Bay and Mt vesuvius was outstanding - and the small balcony was just enough room for the two of us to sit out and enjoy the view
Lovely rooms and view
A bit out of the way
Room equipped with two firm support single beds side by side, a fully renovated private bathroom with two sinks, a somewhat new carpet on the floor and a small balcony facing the bay of Naples. Everything was extremely clean. Size of the room was larger than usual (according to Europe standards) and there was good sound insulation between rooms. View from the balcony was amazing. Breakfast was included in the room rate and had plenty of food to sustain anybody. Staff was courteous and there was somebody at the desk 24 hours a day. Gorgeous lobby with plenty of rooms to sit and relax. All in all, very good value for your money.
No safe in the room. Some minor cracks in the wall and the tapestry could be in better shape. Hotel is about 600 metres (2,000 feet) by foot from Amedeo subway station and you need to climb up a stairway of some 80 steps with your luggage before reaching the hotel. You may need to take a taxi if this is not suitable to you. Wifi only available in the lobby but is free. These are all minors (considering decent charge of the room) and should not distract your pleasure at living the life of an hotel of the century beginning.
We love the excellent view from the hotel. The room and bathroom is very big. It is strongly to ask for the room with free wifi, then you may get higher floor. However if you want to get the excellent night view of napoli, i think seeing from the castle in the mountain may be better. It is not too difficult as you think to get the hotel, ther is a short cut. It is better to mail them to get the informtaion in advance. However, it took time to come back from the center of napoli, but you can get a good view from the hotel, so basically it depends on what you want.
The staff can treat people without speaking intalin better, although they looks busy. We treat people very well in my country, even we are busy or traveller couldn't speak chinese at all. The breakfast is basic. Room is big, but there is a strange smell in the room and we couldn't find where it comes from.
benevolent staff,daily cleaning
old furniture, old plumbing equipment, poor assortment of dishes in restaurant, stairs from metro station close in Sat and Sunday
The staff is very helpful, special thanks to Enzo at reception who adviced us to visit Ischia
Breakfast could be better
loved the old world charm. Fantastic views from rooms over water front. Hotel was a bit dated but quite elegant. I did get the smoking room I wanted.
Wifi signal very poor; only available in floor 4 rooms - had to change room to get. Breakfast was only just OK; no facility for dinner; bar closes very early.
- wonderful view over the bay of Naples; - rooms with view are spacious.
- relatively isolated location (depend on local transport); - not nearby restaurant; - poor breakfast.
Lovely old building, like a grand old lady. Large room, very large bathroom and nice bathtub; wonderful view of the water; breakfast was fine; staff gave good recommendations for dinner options; great bargain for the money and a fun, formerly luxurious venue
