Located next to the cloisters of Florence’s Santa Maria Novella Basilica, Hotel Alba is an elegantly renovated property with a peaceful courtyard.
Score from 598 reviews Very good
Just 1000 ft from Santa Maria Novella Train Station, the 4-star Albani Firenze is centrally located in Florence, a 10-minute walk from Florence Cathedral.
Score from 522 reviews Excellent
Hotel Martelli is housed in an elegant, historic building, which once belonged to Florentine nobles. Both the cathedral and Firenze Santa Maria Novella Train Station are 650 ft away.
Score from 524 reviews Good
The staff were great. Service was personalized & exceptional. Tea, coffee & fruit available in the lounge all day. Very central & 5 minute walk from the station. Made our trip to Florence fantastic.
The room was very large and had amazing murals on the walls and fresco on the ceiling. The location was very good. Several blocks from the train station, quiet street, short walk to the main square.
The outside of the property is somewhat un-inviting and you need to ring the bell to have the gate buzzed open.
Room Location Host
Felt like home. Extremely friendly staff. Simple and perfect breakfast. Great location. Felt very safe. Beautiful room - old style with fresco.
Bathrooms a little old - but perfectly adequate.
The hotel is incredibly tranquil, located inside a Florentine 'palace', yet situated in the heart of the city, only a few minutes away from every one of the main sites. The rooms are stunning, with frescoes on high ceilings. Breakfast (with fabulous cappuccino) is in another beautiful room. All in all a really great base in Florence.
400 year old fresco paintings in our room's vaulted ceilings, Mario's opera music, location.
That we had to leave.
Location, very friendly staff, value for money. Will come back to this hotel next time I visit Florence.
Amazing location, welcoming staff, clean and cosy. The rooms have amazingly decorated ceilings, overlooking an indoor shared garden. Overall a beautiful Boutique Italian hotel. Perfect for central location.
Owner was really nice. He gave me a helpI needed right away. Cosy place.
It's a very small hotel (only 4 breakfast tables). It's difficult to stay invisible, I felt that staff cared too much where am I going in the evening and when I will be back.
Our room appeared to be converted from a large hall of an old building. There was a smaller room build into it, which didn't take all the vertical space, so we had the entire ceiling of the original room to ourselves and only half the floor. The ceiling was beautiful - old frescos showing heroic deeds of Perseus. (We later saw they have a larger room for 4, which had similar frescos on the walls.) Other than the weird room (which we liked), the hotel is very cozy with the home-like atmosphere in the reception room (doubling as the breakfast room) and very friendly staff. It is also close to the train station (less than 10 minutes on foot), the cathedral (less than 5 minutes) and the main museums - Uffizi Gallery and Academia Gallery (less than 10 minutes walking). A tip to help you find the place: when you get to the street look for larger blue on white house number plaques and don't be confused by smaller grayish numbers, which mark every door. Once you found the right door, you need to buzz in and get to the second (first in Europe) floor.
The Wi-Fi was almost non-existent. Checking the mail was an undertaking, forget about surfing the Web.
Hotel Burchianti felt like a very special place to stay. The hotel is on the first floor of a former palace which was built in 1600. There was also a very good buffet breakfast. We only stayed one night, but would have loved to have been able to stay longer. It is also centrally placed so within walking distance of everything.
Loved the rooms, friendly staff, excellent breakfasts.could not fault anything. Will definitely return!
There was nothing we did not like!
The big room! Nice staff and dog friendly.
The door is very thin..
It's hard to fault this hotel. Rooms were lovely, staff were extremely helpful and friendly, location was perfect and breakfast was very good too.
The staff were great, the hotel was more a boutique hotel which was great, it had a great reception room, come breakfast room, loved it.
All staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Mario and his team made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. They even helped us park the hire car!
Our stay was too short.
- Short walk (less than 10 minutes) from SMN train station. - Rooms were quite spacious and featured high ceilings with frescoes. - Short walking distance from most major tourist sites in Florence ( less than 5 min. walk to Duomo). - Amazing staff! Everyone was very friendly and helpful! They made us feel like family! - Mini market next door is a great place to pick up reasonably priced refreshments and snacks. - Plenty of good restaurants nearby!
- While there was air conditioning it did a very poor job of cooling the room given the temperatures during July. - Daily breakfast offered little to no variety. - Our room was located just off the breakfast/lobby area and we could hear the door buzzer and breakfast prep noisies.
Superb stay in Frescoed room Owner very helpful and attentive and staff all superb Superb location and excellent breakfast
Kids didn't see any ghosts in haunted hotel
The walls of our bedroom had frescos! The staff was immensely helpful. The location is fantastic.
In the lobby, it feels a bit like you're in the proprietor's living room. It makes it a little hard to feel totally relaxed.
The hotel is in a very classic building near train station, helpful Reception and nice bkft. Will choose definitely if I visit Florance again.
Friendly staff Location Lovely building
Bathroom was a bit dated
beautifully decorated with stucco ceilings , quiet , large rooms , very clean and lovely comfortable bed .Great location 2 mins from the Duomo above a vintsge garden
shutters on the windows made it very dark during the day ....
- Location is super convenient; - Staff was very helpful and friendly.
- A creepy elevator to go up to reception (1st floor) and to your room. It wouldn't hold a door and overall is was annoying; - Basic breakfast
Room was a tad small
Located in the center of old town, so arriving by car is a bit a like running thru a mace, however there is an adjacent valet parking setting you back around 30 euros a day. You need to tell the parking staff well in advance to have them your vehicle ready. Hotel room was nice and spacy, allthough the windows could not be opened and the wooden shades prevented almost any sunlight entering the room. Bedding was ok. Superior room is just the door next to the breakfast room.
It is no hotel but a 2nd floor hideout in a multipurpose (b'n'b, office, carpark, etc) building. after coming back from the city by midnight we noticed that the drinking cups (some sort of handycraft blue glass) were stained and dirty, even with small crumbles in them. as well as the bath, obviously cleaned but with lots of soap residue and stains on the instruments, i faced the "Signore" (owner) the next morning and told him, in order to improve his booking.com ranking from excellent to even outstanding, cleaning could generally be done better. He then totally run ballistic insulting me and calling me a liar. well, not what i'd expect for the monney paid for a superior double room, but rather the evidence of whole florence beeing a mere tourist rip off. the owner did not accept any comment on value for money, even worse, he started arguing with us in front of all people attending breakfast and went furious. tried to calm him down with no effect... so overall, there are for sure better stays in florence for the same amount of money. our suggestion: simply avoid the burchanti.
