It was a nice surprise to see how big the room was. Everything was kept very clean and the staff were nice and helpful
First night was excellent, very quiet, and the directions given to me by the staff were perfect, very easy to follow. I was in the 'annex' which I actually thought was easier to find than the original location where I picked up keys. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially as far as meeting me at check in time and allowing me to store my bags during the day after check out.
The second night was awful, horribly loud. I think I was just unlucky but a group of boys were yelling and screaming and playing music throughout the night. After 1:30am when I finally thought they were in bed, they had actually gone out and returned at 5:30am to wake up the entire building. The floor is tiled and echoes a lot, and the locks are very loud when someone turns a key in the door, as that sound echoes too, so if you have bad neighbors, you will not get a good night's sleep.
nice friendly owner. pretty town and room. great location.
bathroom outside of the room.
This hotel is amazing. The location is amazing. The staff is wonderful. The hotel is right in Venice and on a Canal. Its just amazing!! It is beautiful!!! I would recommend this hotel to everyone!!!!
Very calm place near the centre.
Good location, quiet and 15mins walk to San Marco and very near to main street. The owner is warm and friendly.
We booked a room with shared bathroom, and it was long queue in peak time...
The owner is very helpful, a cute Indian guy doing good business. He tried hard to make guests feel at home and it was definitely a valuable gesture to travellers.
Location is alright; just a bit close to a stream that smells...
The staff were friendly and competent. Very clean. Great location, we walked to nearly everything.
Great location. Quiet yet so close to main area. Easy to get to with instructions initially. Can walk to Rialto, Station and San Marco. Lots of ristorante nearby. Our room was very comfortable & shared bathroom was clean with great water pressure! We could also leave our bags on last day after check out & come back for them. Really appreciated this.
Stayed for two nights. First night guests next door were really inconsiderate & very noisy late at night. Walls a little thin! That could happen anywhere. Next night no problems.
This place was an affordable place to stay in with 4 in the room. We only stayed a night but the beds were comfy and the bathroom clean.
Make sure you take spray for Mosquitos as the room was full of them. The bath/shower did not have hook for the shower head so a bit annoying.
The directions to this hotel were perfect! They send them to you with a map a few days before you arrive. The room was clean, spent more for a private bathroom, but it's worth it! The hotel is close to water bus stop and plenty of restaurants and shopping, the staff was very helpful and gave us maps of the area and explained different ways to get to the airport.
The hotel doesn't have breakfast or coffee.
It was a good place to stay two days before our cruise. I wouldn't recommend staying longer.
Felt like we were being watched by the staff.
I had a medical emergency and was forced to cancel my trip to Venice. I contacted Booking.com and asked if they could help me cancel the hotel. They did their best, but the hotel informed them that since they have a "non-cancellation policy" I would not be able to cancel my reservation. I begged them to reconsider, as I had been faced with a potential cancer, and was forced to undergo an emergency operation (the sole reason why I could not go) and explained that I would be ever so grateful if they could make an exception in this case, as indeed it was an unusual case. They refused, again referring to their non-cancellation policy. Therefore, I would not recommend ANYONE to book a stay with this hotel, as they clearly have no empathy whatsoever. Not only that, they then two days before my "arrival" sent me an email with details on how to get to their hotel etc and saying how happy they were to see me (clearly an automated email). To me that was the drop and although I normally never submit these sorts of reviews I think people need to know about them and stay away from this hotel!
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
We can hear the sound of other customers.
Perfect quite location. Close to restaurants and shops. 10 min walk to Rialto Bridge. Fantastic hospitality. Even emailed directions to the hotel so made it very easy to find. Lovely, clean room and bathroom.
Can't fault anything.
Clean room and well-kept. The manager was very friendly and even went out of his way to meet and greet us to make sure we don't get lost. Excellent location!
Not clean ! Humidity ! Expensive ! Terrible room with bed bugs
Host very helpful and friendly, he sent mail with map and explanation how to find guesthouse. Owner enable left luggage even we checked out (our plane was later that day). Very clean, even share bathroom.
The Ca Del Rio was situated on a beautiful quiet street in a less traveled area of Venice.
The check-in and check-out experiences were pretty horrendous. We checked in a tad late (if you consider 9:30 pm late), and were greeted with a gruff guy who, in addition to refusing our request for two sets of keys, acted generally put-out and was the opposite of helpful. When we asked where we could get good, inexpensive eats, we were told "McDonald'S." Then, when we asked again, he told us to get on the Internet and google it. Also, the room was a lot smaller and less appointed than I expected (and was misrepresented online as well). The room sleeping four, was merely a master bedroom with a couple of rollaway single beds. The many complicated skeleton keys to get from one room to the next (including the bathroom) were onerous and gave the impression of a mixture between a hostel and a prison. I would not stay at this particular property again.
Big clean room, clean bathroom, removed from the central areas so it's nice and quiet
The room was advertised as having a private bathroom, it was a shared one.
Very friendly staff, cheap by Venice standards and close to the main thorough fare
Shared bathroom is upstairs so a little inconvenient from a ground floor room.
The room and hotel was clean and nice with a perfect location. Staff was friendly.
A great find. A proper Venetian house in the back streets. The street outside our window was a canal. During the night we would hear fish jumping out of the water. Tricky to find but all part of the fun. The manager/owner/cook/cleaner (all same person) was very polite and helpful.
Clean and comfortable rooms, bathroom was impeccable and beautiful which was a pleasant surprise considering it was a shared bathroom!
I found the check in process uncomfortable, unusual and intimidating. We were asked into an office with our passports, and the conversation while doing so took a turn that talked about terrorism in Sri Lanka and how the person checking us in was commander of the navy ... that fact, along with the conversation, on top of the fact that he remained very serious, wouldn't smile, and appeared unfriendly, made me super nervous to stay there, and super nervous every time we left the hotel. I would not stay here again because of that. The hotel itself was very nice, quaint, comfortable and clean, so this is unfortunate. But overall, the conversation about terrorists scared me and made me feel uncomfortable. We were trying to have a romantic vacation. That kind of set the tone.
I like the location because its very quiet and peaceful yet not too far from the bussy strada nuovo, realto bridge, central station and st marks square all within a mile. It allows you to discover inner venice as you meander through the narrow streets, bridges on your way to your destinations. The room itself is also very quiet, clean, and comfortable.
