Grado is a great place to base yourself for a few days.
Grado is a great place to base yourself for a few days. It is a marine town with tons of boats. We would eat our gelato in front of the marina every night.
We were here for two main sights.
First was birding the nature preserve. We rented bikes in town. We saw quite a few shore birds like heron and ibis and our first flamingo in the wild.
Second was the Roman town of Aquillia. If you are a fan of Roman history you have to see this place. Some of the best Roman mosaics in the world.

The destination in main tourist seasons is little bit crowded as it is small island and parking there might be challenging on some days, but once settle Grado provides great variety of Italian restaurants with cuisine you will fall for. The long sand beaches are beautiful and shallow slowly descending shore is great for families with small children.

Excelent place to stay with kids. Nice long sandy beaches with shallow and warm water, romantic small city center with historical buildings and fabulous restaurants.
Basically the northern beach in Italy, and you have all you need to have small taste of the "La bella vita"...
Just a couple kilomiters from Grado you can visit Aquileia, the once important city of the Roman Empire (also called the second Rome).

It is an interesting town with very different parts, old and new. It is well kept with lovely flower beds. There are some very good restaurants...we try to visit once a year and always go to Tony's restaurant which is excellent. We stayed in Pineta this year for the first time where the car parking was demanding !!

Great location, peaceful, garrage, bikes to borrow for free...
Great location, peaceful, garrage, bikes to borrow for free - great for to be used around the town. Grado is an amazing town, atmospheric, great views, sightseeing, food, grocery stores close by, great goods in shops, clean town, peaceful.
Very simple and clean room. Having a sink in the room was helpful. Huge balcony was a big bonus. It was also helpful to have a rope with clips to hang the laundry in the balcony. The hosts were extremely accomodating, friendly and helpful with moving from single room to double room when my husband came to join me in the middle of the stay. The hotel was silent at nights, which is also an important factor. Restaurants and shop a few steps outside the hotel. Calm neighborhood.
Location and history are going for this place. The property is beautiful from the outside, and the history is appreciated. It is in the center, close to some great restaurants, and right on the beach. The sunbeds belonging to the hotel are in great location (at extra fee - make sure you book them ahead because they go fast). Wait staff was nice and the cappuccino was delicious at breakfast. I loved the toiletries in the bathroom.
The windows in the rooms have screens!
Astoria’s staff is very welcoming to our two little dogs. We feel well looked after there. The staff is friendly and helpful. The place is always very clean. We love it’s history. It’s 100 years old!
The dining room is spacious and lovely. The breakfast buffet has a good selection. The barista makes a great cappuccino. The hotels location is ideal. So close to the beach and the charming old part of town.
We stayed during the off-season, and this hotel was a great choice. It's situated not in the center of Grado but further along the beach in a quiet residential neighborhood. The room was very spacious and comfortable, breakfast was satisfactory, and parking around the hotel behind a gated area was provided. While the staff could have been friendlier, overall, we were very happy with our stay.
5 minutes from Costa Azzurra Beach and about 15 minutes from the old town of Grado. Very nice and huge terrace, comfortable sofa to sleep on and double bed in a separate room. Kitchen very nice and well equipped (freezer and fridge). Very nice area and not noisy at all. Excellent price-performance ratio. Very clean, important to bring your own towels and sheets.
Lovely hotel near the beach and town centre. We had a spacious corner room with a modern bathroom and large terrace with sea views. It was very clean and the staff were very nice. The pool was lovely, and I enjoyed the sun terrace, The breakfasts were very nice, and we appreciated being able to use the bikes to explore the area.
Best appartment we ever had in Grado. Very new and clean. We liked the quiet location. Bathroom very modern and shower with high standard. Hair dryer available. Enough towels. Kitchen well equipped, inclusive espresso machine. Basic equipment for cleaning and bath was thankfully provided. The included carpark is very helpful.
A wonderful hotel in a wonderful Italian city. The staff is friendly and helpful, the sea view from our balcony was astonishing. They have a nice and secure garage on 1st floor, you do not have to leave your car on the street. And of course, Italian cuisine everywhere :-)
Quaint hotel in convenient Grado location. A bit old fashioned but evocative of so many Italian hotels. Super clean and the hotel staff went out of their way to fix the only minor problem which we had.
Hotel was 4 mins from bus station and easy to reach the old town.
Great sett up with a little kitchen. The unit had a drying rack for clothes which was very handy since they have laundry facilities on the property.
Property is secluded from the busy town of Grado, but close enough to ride one of their bikes to Grado by
Staff was super friendly, the room very beautifully decorated and comfortable. There was a great bike garage and breakfast was very delicious. The hotel was very recently renovated so it all was very new and nice.
Staff was very friendly, we got a room with balcony even though the original booking was without one. Hotel is situated right next to one of the entries to the beach. Powerful AC kept room cool at night.
