Good,

“Exceptional value for money from a new (and still developing) 4-star hotel. The room was actually better than many 5 stars we've stayed, clean and ultra spacious. Loved the quiet, safe neighborhood, even though the Vatican was 20'-25' walk (we always took a cab, anyhow).”

We are a young couple and we stayed for 7 nights. When we arrived, we were given a very large room with big windows, nice, quiet and confortable, but the air conditioner had no remote control and could be stopped only by the reception. In this room the air conditioner had a problem, could not be stoped at all, so at 1 in the morning we had to move to another room. The second room, where we stayed for the entire week was also clean and comfortable, but not so big as the first one, and it only had a window in the back of a corridor of the room, windows towards many trees and in the day there was no light in the room (we had to stay always with the light on). We didn't asked for a second move because after a holl day in the sun of Rome we were tired and only wanted relaxation when arriving to the hotel. Everyday the cleaning lady made our bed, changed our towels, put shower gels and shampoos in the toilet, but I don't think that she used the vacuum cleaner at all, and never washed our bath. In general the comfort is 4 stars, but the breakfast was 2 stars. The locations was ok (4 bus stations until vatican and san pietro square; 3 bus stations until the nearest metro station : Valle Aurelia or Cornelia station; and after that we can take the subway 4-5 stations until the major atractions). We gave 55 euro for a night during the week, and 85 euro for a night in the weekend. 55 euro is ok for the hotel, but a greater sum doesn;t justify the 4 stars of the hotel. The hotel has a swimming pool and 3 small jacuzzi (each one for 2 persons) with cold water, they were heated only by the sun. The breakfast was always the same, poor , without vegetables, and if we went after 8.30 without fresh fruits. Their offer contained only in one type of salamy, one type of cheese, two types of ham (witch was bad), omlete which was bad, and baked ham which was burned or very fat; cereals, butter;lot of sweet chocolate croissants; lots of baskets with different kinds of bread; the cheapes milk, the worse coffe ever; juice but was worse then Coke ar fanta because had a lot of sugar and seem very very artificial and cheep. The tv offer was poor. In the evening the only free programs that you could watch were cnn and bbc. The other ones were in italian, or were extra cost (music, films etc) There was no wi fi in the lobby, nor a free computer witch would've been very helpfull. Don't forget about the city tax , 3 euro for person, for every night, tax imposed by the government from 1 january 2011. I also think that the hotel should have a map with all the buses/trams that came in that area, because at the beginng of our staying we were put in the situation where at 9 A.m the metro station was closed, we didn;t knew because nobody told us, we were in the other part of the city, and it took us almost 3 hours to arrived at the hotel asking lots of people, changeing 2 buses, walking etc.

Cardinal Hotel St. Peter was an outstanding value. There is ample free parking (a premium in Rome), a nice pool, and three spas on the roof of the hotel which had a beautiful view of St. Peter's Basilica Cupola. The rooms have a nice balcony with table and chairs. Bathroom was very nice. All in all, a great value for the cost! I'll be back!

Not a four star as everything is becoming very worn and needs updating. Fittings in room were a little loose and beds not that great but then again if you like hard beds then thats fine. Bed was nice and big however. Service at hotel was very good and helpful at all times. Location not top as you have to use taxis to get back at night. It is currently a fine 3 star and needs to be updated. Breakfast was shocking though so avoid it at all cost and eat out. Overall above average but probably wont stay again.

The location, service and cleanliness of the hotel were good and adequate to the price. Breakfest were ok, as well. Hvac was not working at all. The reason explained by the personell was that Italian law restricts the hvac during this year period (April), what is very hard to believe.

Nice lobby. The actual room I received did not mathc the style of the room advertised on the web site. (False advertising). No WiFi service in the rooms, only in the lobby. The quality of coffee, juice and sweet pastries did not correspond to the quality of a **** hotel.

We had a lovely view of St Peter's Basilica from our balcony. It was in a woodsy area, off a busy square with buses every 10 min but very quiet. They were remodeling and it looked unfinished but all services were in place even the option of a meal (minimal choices) at the bar.

It is a modern hotel with clean rooms and quiet location. Building renovations going on in hotel. Rock hard beds. Evening meal selection very poor. Only 2 or 3 out of the freezer meals like pizza or cordon bleu. Says it located close to St Peters but it is only on the same side of the river. Still a long way away.

The Breakfast was good. The Front Desk staff was Rude. Room wasn't ready for the 2:00 PM.check-in jacuzzi was closed till June.Parking Lot was under Construction. You had to park in a Gravel parking Lot by ringing a buzzer, when we got ready to depart the hotel, the parking gate didn't have anyway to let the front desk know to open the exit gate, we had to walk back to the front desk to have them open it for our exit. The door for the closet came off Track trying to open it. The Room wasn't worth the price over $260.00 a night for 4 people. Chipping paint on the ceiling in room. The Bar was the Breakfast Area for the breakfast. A table set with choice of wine or beer from the bottle from a hotel staff member. Been in Italy since 2007, worst Hotel for price/ Service.

The front desk were helpful. Restaurant was too cold Restaurant staff were not friendly. Restaurant food was not good. Mini bar was not restocked. Renovations seem to be taking place and as a result the noise level was extreme early in the morning (between 7 & 10)

The rooms were lovely & clean and spacious. We had a lovely view of The Vatican from our balcony. The breakfast was awful with no choice at all, the staff were not very friendly or informative. This hotel is about 20 min walk from The Vatican City and about a 20 min taxi journey to the main city centre, so the location is not brilliant.

The Hotel was exactly what we expected. The pictures on the webpage accurately reflected the hotel. The room was clean, well maintained and well suited to our needs. The staff was knowledgable, professional and helpful. The "American Breakfast" iincludes bacon and scrambled eggs. The location is very good for sightseeing and feels quite safe. Food and shopping is nearby. A bus stop is a block away and the nearest subway about 1/2 mile. I would stay there again. If you go in the winter don't expect to go on the roof patio. They lock it. It's really too bad becasue the view would have been worth it.

The price of staying in this hotel, compensated for the location which is out of town. It was walking distance (20mins) to St Peter's Basilica and there were bus options close to the hotel. At 4 euros a day for all public transport it was worth it. The metro was also walking distance (20 mins). However public transport stopped at 9pm so we always had to have an early dinner so we could get back. Highly recommend the Trastevere area for eating. Although I checked the hotel restaurant was open every day of the year until 11 pm before leaving, we arrived at 9 pm on Christmas day to be told the restaurant had closed earlier and there was nothing we could eat. Fortunately McDonalds was within walking distance! The following night we ate in the hotel restaurant and it was the worst meal we have ever had in our 5 years of travelling Europe. Only four things on the menu. We chose roast turkey, potatoes and salad and were given two thin slices of cold processed turkey, a few lettuce leaves and no potatoes. When asked about the potatoes the one person on duty said they were coming in 2 minutes; they never came and after waiting 30 minutes he finally acknowledged there were no potatoes. Do not eat in the restaurant!!!

Driving from Germany, one of our first priorities was safe, secure parking. The Cardinal is one of the few hotels that offered free, private parking. When I got online and read the reviews, and then saw the price, it all came together. In a nutshell, the staff was exceptionally accomodating, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the price was right. Not that we didn't like it, but the Cardinal is a bit of a hike from the Vatican. We walk fast and I would say it is closer to 30 minutes. Having said that, there are buses that will get you there faster, but keep in mind, you cannot get tickets on the bus. Go to the Tobacco shops.

What I liked most was the commitment of the staff. Everyone was polite, eager to listen to our requests and warm. I did not like the fact that they charged Internet Access through the interactive tv interface, and in the same time the free WiFi access at reception did not work.

Room and Bathroom was excellent. Very well maintained and the cleaning staff were very good. However the balcony of the room was never cleaned atleast for a month and had leaves everywhere and balcony wwas not painted. Looked Ugly! Nevertheless I am NOT going to give a negative rating for the balcony as it was winter time and also because it didnot affect the comfort level of our room stay as we were not too bothered about the balcony. Also because the inside of the room and the toilets were kept in 100% cleanliness. Also the location of the hotel was just fantastic and suited us perfectly. Overall I would give 3 stars to this hotel. It certainly is NOT A FOUR STAR HOTEL. 1) Breakfast was atrocious. I would rate the breakfast at nearly 1 star rating. Reasons: Poorly presented. Bacon had hardly any meat and nearly only fat. Was slimy looking bacon in loads of fat floating on the dish. Nearly nauseating to look at it. Scrambled Eggs were tastless and was so yellow and looked very processed. No fresh juice and most the days they didnt even have the cordial in the drinking machine after 9.30am and they wouldnt refill it as beakfast finishes at 10.00am. Also no desserts except for one day of our 4 day stay. 2) Outside of the hotel was kept in very bad conditions. Walls were not painted for years and looked old and withered. Also gardens was not maintained for months with dried leaves everwhere. From outside it looks like a 2 star motel as oppossed to a four star hotel. However must mention that the rooms and toilets were maintained very well. Overall I would give 3 stars to this hotel. It certainly is NOT A FOUR STAR HOTEL.
