Cardinal Hotel St. PeterVia Dehon 71, Aurelio, 00165 Rome (Show map) Good, Score from 660 reviews“Exceptional value for money from a new (and still developing) 4-star hotel. The room was actually better than many 5 stars we've stayed, clean and ultra spacious. Loved the quiet, safe neighborhood, even though the Vatican was 20'-25' walk (we always took a cab, anyhow).”

Great hotel. A 30 minute walk to the Vatican. Good service by staff and a great breakfast. Views of St Peter's Basilica from our room. Free parking was very convenient and ample.

Excellent jacuzzi and pool, many bus routes in to town inc 916 bus and many others. Its a great hotel if your not there for tv and breakfast. Its close enough to get the bus into the city but not much around. That said no noise and smog either. I would recommend this hotel but no tv and breakfast is terrible - that said its free and it would cost as much anywhere else for 4 star without breakfast. Yes the jacuzzi relies on the sun for heat - its hot and refreshing. Too many complaints about this hotel really by others, its basic but nice. The staff can be moany b ut they are Italian, we found that quite a lot. Good place to stay with good bus links. Breakfast sucks - so what you know that now before you book Staff can be narky but are also helpful. Guests moan too much Need more than bbc world and ccn on tv

The hotel has a good location if you travel by car. It is easy to find the hotel and you have a free parking at garage and it is very simple to get into the city by bus. The hotel has free wifi internet in the lobby and in the rooms you have to pay 7 eur for 24 hour for internet. The hotel has very nice view to st.peter cathedral and the vatican. You have also on the roof 3 jacuzzis. Also you have a swimming pool and it was great and all facilities are free of charge. If you want to go into the city, you can take the bus nr. 916 and it will bring you directly to the city center. The drive takes about 10-15 minutes. The daily ticket is 4 eur, and you can use it until 23:59 on the day when you stamp it. The ticket you can by on the kiosk (trafik) T. To the vatican you can also walk, it takes about 25 minute easy walking. The rooms are renovated and clean. The price that we payed was 55 eur per night for 2 persons, and that is very good price for all that we become in the hotel. We recommend this hotel and would stay again there. The breakfast should be better for a 4 star hotel. You have only one salame, chese, eggs, bacon, croissants, corn flakes etc.

We are a young couple and we stayed for 7 nights. When we arrived, we were given a very large room with big windows, nice, quiet and confortable, but the air conditioner had no remote control and could be stopped only by the reception. In this room the air conditioner had a problem, could not be stoped at all, so at 1 in the morning we had to move to another room. The second room, where we stayed for the entire week was also clean and comfortable, but not so big as the first one, and it only had a window in the back of a corridor of the room, windows towards many trees and in the day there was no light in the room (we had to stay always with the light on). We didn't asked for a second move because after a holl day in the sun of Rome we were tired and only wanted relaxation when arriving to the hotel. Everyday the cleaning lady made our bed, changed our towels, put shower gels and shampoos in the toilet, but I don't think that she used the vacuum cleaner at all, and never washed our bath. In general the comfort is 4 stars, but the breakfast was 2 stars. The locations was ok (4 bus stations until vatican and san pietro square; 3 bus stations until the nearest metro station : Valle Aurelia or Cornelia station; and after that we can take the subway 4-5 stations until the major atractions). We gave 55 euro for a night during the week, and 85 euro for a night in the weekend. 55 euro is ok for the hotel, but a greater sum doesn;t justify the 4 stars of the hotel. The hotel has a swimming pool and 3 small jacuzzi (each one for 2 persons) with cold water, they were heated only by the sun. The breakfast was always the same, poor , without vegetables, and if we went after 8.30 without fresh fruits. Their offer contained only in one type of salamy, one type of cheese, two types of ham (witch was bad), omlete which was bad, and baked ham which was burned or very fat; cereals, butter;lot of sweet chocolate croissants; lots of baskets with different kinds of bread; the cheapes milk, the worse coffe ever; juice but was worse then Coke ar fanta because had a lot of sugar and seem very very artificial and cheep. The tv offer was poor. In the evening the only free programs that you could watch were cnn and bbc. The other ones were in italian, or were extra cost (music, films etc) There was no wi fi in the lobby, nor a free computer witch would've been very helpfull. Don't forget about the city tax , 3 euro for person, for every night, tax imposed by the government from 1 january 2011. I also think that the hotel should have a map with all the buses/trams that came in that area, because at the beginng of our staying we were put in the situation where at 9 A.m the metro station was closed, we didn;t knew because nobody told us, we were in the other part of the city, and it took us almost 3 hours to arrived at the hotel asking lots of people, changeing 2 buses, walking etc.

The hotel was excellent value, especially for Rome. The room was fairly small but well appointed. You could get to many major sites via a bus which was 5 minutes away.

The rooms were excellent. A very good size, with a great view of St Peters from the balcony where you could really relax. Lovely bathroom. The pool was good and the jacuzzi was a great bonus! It is a little out of town but close to the underground or bus which is easy to use. Would recommend it!

I felt the hotel was too far...every taxi charged you a different price and took longer to get to the centre each day!! I was not happy with this hotel whats so ever, they do no serve food "only frozen pizza's" breakfast was not great either. They had no bar other than a small bar downstairs that was not open, there roof bar was only open 2 hours 1 night out of the 4 nights we stayed. We went up on the roof one evening to get some air only to be asked to leave as they wanted to lock up.....I would not suggest anybody stay out in this hotel!!!

The room was very well equipped. The location is very good, near the center of town but in a quiet place with easy access. The restaurant was not available because it was rented for a private event and there was no other option to have a snack in the hotel.

The room were good, the bed, bath and air temperature. The option of choosing between two outdoors relax places was great and the balcony with view of St. Peter. The easy way to go to buses and metro. The staff was very helpful. Nice surroundings The one lift and stairs was sometimes locked in the morning some places. You could take this lift from restaurant and it was closed in 2.3. and 4th stage. People were quite confused of this. Maybe also more variation, fruit and vegetable for breakfast. Wash the balcony floor.

The breakfast is absolutely fantastic. Wide variety of food. Spacious bedrooms and beautiful bathrooms. Close to the busstation. Will definately stay here again. Our shower drain was blocked in our first room. They moved us to another room. Neither rooms had views of St Peters Cathedral as promised when we made the booking. Internet and paychannels didn't work.

We arrived on an early flight from the UK and not only was a room available but, as it turned out on our return trip, we had been upgraded. The staff were very helpful and efficient and spoke excellent English. Access to the hotel by car is off a busy one-way road with no clear indication of the turning. In fact the only sign visible was a No Entry sign. On our second visit we had booked a Superior Double but none of the 'extras' referred to above the standard room were included so we were forced to complain. As a result we apid twice the price for the room compared to our earlier stay but did not receive twice the value.

The reason I chose the hotel was that is had a swimming pool which I knew we would enjoy after exploring Rome during the day. The hotel was also within walking distance of public transport, restaurants and local shops. Room was spacious and noise level low. We had a lot of issues during our brief stay. Firstly with the exception of one lady, I found the hotel staff to be unfriendly and not interested in helping you. While there we had no hot water in the morning. When reported got no apology and told it would be back in a few hours. We also had issue with airconditioning and again not very helpful. Eventually we had to change rooms because it was so hot. To add insult to this, we were charged for items from mini bar and telephone after money deducted from credit card. Breakfast was adequate, but juices very substandard and only alternative for kids was hot chocolate. I found the staff to be very defensive about everything and not at all interesting in improving standards.

Exceptional value for money from a new (and still developing) 4-star hotel. The room was actually better than many 5 stars we've stayed, clean and ultra spacious. Loved the quiet, safe neighborhood, even though the Vatican was 20'-25' walk (we always took a cab, anyhow). Ample, safe parking, nice roof garden on top (to which you had to carry your coffee/drink from the bar in the basement). Friendly staff. Adequate breakfast. Would certainly stay again. Relatively easy access from Rome's outer ring (if travelling by car). From a 4-star hotel (in Rome where everybody runs around all day and returns to the hotel dead-tired) we would have liked the kitchen to stay open later... And you could've made so much more money from a family of 4! Particularly when there are not any eating choices within walking distance. Also, dear hotel, while you offer a nice breakfast (W.R.T. food), please do throw away those coffee machines. They make the worst types of coffee in Italy (famous for great coffee, among other things). Good coffee is a must in the morning, then comes the food. The juice machines have to go, too. Better offer ready-made juice...

The room was clean, confortable, with a nice balcony with table and chairs. Service was good, food was not so good but the neighbor hotel has an exelent restaurant. Hotel is about 4 km from downtown but easy access to the bus station. Taxi from the hotel to downtown costs around EUR 9,00 and takes 8 minutes. Hotel is not in the city center.

From the rooftop, the hotel has a beautiful view of the Vatican. There are three jacuzzi's on the roof and a large area to sit and relax. The jacuzzi's are not heated, so they are more suitable for a hot summer day. The breakfast was wonderful. Great service, well decorated tables and an abundance of delicious food all included in the price of the hotel. The rooms were cozy, comfortable and clean. Plenty of storage and a mini refrigerator with various drinks and snacks. It is about a 25 minute walk to the Vatican and there are multiple bus tours you can take from Vatican City. The hotel staff were wonderful!

we had a superior double room with terrace - the terrace with view to st. peter was very nice, bathroom clean, good shower and bath-tub. the american breakfast was a bit poor - the scrambled eggs were a yellow, homogenous mass - not really tasty, there was too much of other things than eggs inside - and there were no vegetables, not even cold, fresh ones, not even tomatoes. But at least there were also fresh fruit like apples and kiwis, dried plums, one kind of cheese and the cooked eggs were good, coffee was good. there should have been a kettle for tea/coffee and slippers in the room - i had to ask for them, then we got the kettle, but they didn't have slippers, which would have been nice for the balcony.

The rooms were lovely & clean and spacious. We had a lovely view of The Vatican from our balcony. The breakfast was awful with no choice at all, the staff were not very friendly or informative. This hotel is about 20 min walk from The Vatican City and about a 20 min taxi journey to the main city centre, so the location is not brilliant.

The Hotel was exactly what we expected. The pictures on the webpage accurately reflected the hotel. The room was clean, well maintained and well suited to our needs. The staff was knowledgable, professional and helpful. The "American Breakfast" iincludes bacon and scrambled eggs. The location is very good for sightseeing and feels quite safe. Food and shopping is nearby. A bus stop is a block away and the nearest subway about 1/2 mile. I would stay there again. If you go in the winter don't expect to go on the roof patio. They lock it. It's really too bad becasue the view would have been worth it.

The price of staying in this hotel, compensated for the location which is out of town. It was walking distance (20mins) to St Peter's Basilica and there were bus options close to the hotel. At 4 euros a day for all public transport it was worth it. The metro was also walking distance (20 mins). However public transport stopped at 9pm so we always had to have an early dinner so we could get back. Highly recommend the Trastevere area for eating. Although I checked the hotel restaurant was open every day of the year until 11 pm before leaving, we arrived at 9 pm on Christmas day to be told the restaurant had closed earlier and there was nothing we could eat. Fortunately McDonalds was within walking distance! The following night we ate in the hotel restaurant and it was the worst meal we have ever had in our 5 years of travelling Europe. Only four things on the menu. We chose roast turkey, potatoes and salad and were given two thin slices of cold processed turkey, a few lettuce leaves and no potatoes. When asked about the potatoes the one person on duty said they were coming in 2 minutes; they never came and after waiting 30 minutes he finally acknowledged there were no potatoes. Do not eat in the restaurant!!!
