With a spectacular location in Porto Conte, El Faro overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and Capo Caccia. It features a private beach, indoor and outdoor pools, and many other recreational facilities.
Score from 427 reviews Excellent
Just 325 ft from white sandy beaches, the Hotel Rina features a restaurant, and an outdoor swimming pool with hydro-massage area. The historic center of Alghero is a 25-minute walk away.
Score from 648 reviews Good
Alma di Alghero Hotel is located in front of Lido di San Giovanni beach, a 15-minute walk from the historic center, and a 10-minute drive from the airport.
Score from 413 reviews Very good
Hotel El Balear boasts the Catalan tradition and style that makes Alghero a unique city. It overlooks the sea and offers wonderful, panoramic views of the Alghero Bay.
Score from 193 reviews Good
There is nothing "special" about the hotel - no atmosphere
Good proximity to the main town centre. A walk of 10mins, so that you are not far away from the great bars and restaurants and the old town itself, but far enough away for a peaceful, relaxing holiday. The cleanliness of the hotel and its grounds was unbelievable. A nice relaxed atmosphere in what is a lovely part of the island. Our room was lovely, we had a garden view at the back of the hotel with a double balcony. The facilities within the room were spotless, well maintained with the daily cleaning arrangements first class. An added bonus of all soft drinks and water within the room's mini-bar free of charge. A great idea after a hot day on the beach or beside the pool.
Breakfast could be a little hit and miss at times, as staff were being trained during our stay, but we were on holiday so why stress over something trivial....just go with the flow and it certainly didn't spoil what was an unforgettable stay !!
Were upgraded to sea view room on arrival thank you very much Large comfortable rooms Large very clean salt water pool and loungers and umbrellas Upmarket clientele so no noise around the pool or in dining areas
Restaurant staff muddly Wifi in our room not good at all
Location. Very pleasant 15 minute walk to town. Pool area.
Pulling cases up makeshift ramp from road to reception. Breakfast mediocre.
Large rooms Pool Free car park
We were upgraded and given a bottle of champagne as it was our honeymoon Staff very helpful and well mannered
Breakfast items were not replaced when empty Wifi was slightly tempremental Food in restaurant was not great, very average for 5 star hotel.
Location and view from our room was very good. Cleanliness and housekeeping excellent.
Breakfast was very disappointing. Breakfast area also very disappointing. Any hotel commanding that view should maximise it by allowing guests to have breakfast on an outdoor terrace. There is a practically unused bar occupying a terrace which would make a wonderful dining area. Why has this not been thought of? Staff were indifferent to their guests, they would answer a question if asked, no warmth at all in their demeanour. Pool area uninspiring although efficiently run. Bar food at the pool area a very sad affair indeed, although at least there was one friendly barman there. What's with the shrubbery blocking the view of the sea? It should be possible to look out on the sea whilst sunbathing. Certainly the view was the main reason we booked this hotel, but with the exception of our balcony, we wouldn't have seen it anywhere else in the hotel. Regarding the minibar. There are free soft drinks and water everyday. When I asked if they could possibly substitute sugar free drinks instead, they refused saying these were available in the bar downstairs. (????) Wake up Hotel Carlos! Capitalise on the fantastic location, and if you need any tips on hospitality, come over to Ireland and see how we do it! In Ireland a hotel does not call itself 5 Star - it earns it!
Room, pool, views. Off season, so good price for the level of hotel, but had Inpaid more in the high season I would not have considered it good value.
On arrival we received a free upgrade to a larger room, staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a treat with a fresh omelette cooked in front of you and very good selection of hot & cold food, bar prices were on a par with local bar prices, plenty of Sunbeds and a fresh towel every time you visited the pool (30 Euro deposit required for the duration of stay)Tea and coffee making facilities in the room (only 10 euros for the whole duration of stay) mini bar stocked with free soft drinks and alcoholic drinks to purchase (reasonably priced). The walk into the old town where there are lots of bars and restaurants is a bit rundown but not too arduous and is currently having railings replaced so may be getting a bit of cash spent on it. overall well pleased with our choice!
Rooms were very clean and the pool area was nice
Breakfast was not up to a good standard for the star rating Staff were in need of some organisation at breakfast to replenish empty dishes Coffee was dreadful and could not get a hot pot despite numerous requests The breakfast staff are in need of some training in people skills Didn't like having to pay €30 deposit for a towel round the pool Object to having to pay €10 for the coffee corner in the room
An excellent hotel .....would recomend it highly.
The cleanliness of the hotel generally especially the rooms and swimming pool area. The pool bar and lifeguard service was very good. The location of the hotel and good choice of restaurants nearby!
The breakfasts were poor and the staff in the breakfast room were sometimes non-existent!Had to find a waiter to serve tea and coffee and a chef to cook omelettes !! First night in the hotel we couldn't get a meal!!?Would have recommended the hotel if it had not been spoilt by the restaurant. Not a 5* hotel- had to carry luggage up steep slope to hotel lobby on arrival and down on departure!!
Hotel was very clean. Bedroom was clean and comfortable. Mini bar with free water and soft drinks a nice bonus. Pool area was comfortable and well maintained.
Staff werent the friendliest, especially staff at reception. Dinner menu was limited and over-priced. Bar area was too formal and very little light snack type food was available during the day. We left the hotel most days at lunch time to eat elsewhere, as did many other guests. No entertainment at the pool bar and very "stuffy". Would not consider the hotel to be of a 5 star standard, but a good 4 star. Informed teh hotel on booking that we were on honeymoon. Was disappointed when the hotel didnt even reference this.
All round excellent hotel, we had a splendid week's stay in Sept 2014.The room and balcony, pool, restaurant and bar were all great and the staff were very friendly. Hotel location easy 10 minute walk to Alghero old town.
Large rooms Great pool Nice staff Great location
Breakfast offers high variety but coffee not great, orange juice watered down...
Good location and view of the water. Liked the pool. Rooms were well equipped. Wifi was good and free. Staff were friendly. They will arrange airport transfers if you email ahead
Breakfast was fair but not brilliant.
Good bedrooms. Lovely pool. Building well maintained. High standard of cleanliness. Free water and soft drinks in bedrooms.
Lack of variety of fresh fruit at breakfast. A real pity in view of what is available in local markets. Very poor coffee at breakfast. Several attempts to get it improved failed. Odd as coffee you pay for at the pool is fine. Very poor choice of food at pool terrace. Lack of information on the area for independent travellers. Beach is a considerable distance from hotel so car really needed for transport. Public transport very poor in city.
Our stay at the Hotel Carlos was amazing. We had made them aware that it was our honeymoon on the original booking and we were greeted with a bottle of champagne which was a lovely touch. The staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcome, we ate most days at the restaurant and we really were made to feel like a king and queen on each visit. Marco, behind the bar is brilliant, a great character with an infectious laugh. The hotel itself was immaculate and cleaned to a very good condition every day. The other hotels in Alghero didn't appear fantastic so we definitely picked well for our honeymoon. We would have no hesitancy in returning for another stay at Hotel Carlos V. Please past our best wishes onto Marco as we did not get chance to say bye!! Matt & Catherine, England.
I have no complaints during our stay.
This place lives up to the hype - 5 star accommodations, pool, restaurant, staff, and view of the ocean. Our room and bed were large and comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the pool.
The hotel layout is somewhat confusing because the pool and restaurant are on a different level than the lobby and only specific elevators provide access. The intense August sun made the balcony unuseable.
No more than 3 star
Everything was good from staff members to service.
Keep having to log in in order to use wifi
It was expensive.
The room , view , balcony and pool all superb.
Lacks energy and life. Limited service and no entertainment.
The location and the service of the staff. The hotel is very clean and comfortable.
The parking lot is small and we have to park the car in the street. The gym needs to be improved.
location rooms cleaning staff food
We thought that the reception and restaurant staff were not very friendly. Apart from the cleaning staff who were incredibly friendly all the time, no other members of staff acknowledged us or spoke to us at all during the week, which was very disappointing.
