Location!!! On the Grand Canal - it's location near the main railway station and bus terminal made getting there and getting away very easy. We could walk outside and cross the bridge to catch the vaporetto. It was great. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Close to train and bus stations. Staff friendly and helpful. We made our choice of hotel on the room description and photos, when we arrived we were disappointed and thought it was not worth the money were quoted.

Carlton on the Grand Canal has a perfect location. Service and people are also helpful and polite. Rooms are clean but the bathroom needs renewal. The room we stayed in had an old fashioned bathroom which was not worth the money I paid. I can stay there again hoping that the bathrooms will be renewed.

The location was excellent as it is right opposite the main train station which was key to us as we arrived late at night. All main attractions within easy walking distance. Room decor was very nice. Breakfast was adequate but not enough variety for a 4 star. But still ok.

We were very pleased with every aspect of this hotel except that it has the smallest shower of any hotel that I have every stayed in. That surprised me as it is quite luxurious otherwise. We chose this hotel as we had an early train to catch so we paid a bit more than we usually would.as it is opposite the S. Lucia train station. It was quite in the hotel which is on the Grand Canal.

Canal view room is right on the canal. 100M from train station and ferry stop. Breakfast was a good spread. About 30 minute walk to Rialto, but it's a beautiful walk, easy to get lost (which is a good thing in venice, we found our favourite bar this way) but also easy to find your way again.

Easy access to train station and coaches for airport. Reasonable city break hotel. Friends paid extra for a Grand Canal view but this was opposite the train station and was rather noisy. Also we all assumed that the room would be a little grander when in fact the decore was the same as our standard room and overall it was smaller

Location ... have stayed in a number of Italian hotels ... standards way- off that of South Africa in terms of quality / luxury / facility / value-for- money ... but in terms of European standards the Hotel Carlton is very acceptable.

All the staff were very helpful. It had a great location, and was very clean. We would have prefered a double bed, rather than two singles.

Ideal location to train and gondola rides. The breakfast was decent and staff friendly. Just that for some reason the staff neglected to top up toilet paper....a challenge with two young boys in the family.

Close to the rail and coach stations and located on the Grand Canal therefore very accessible. The price! Far too much money...we paid eur680 for 2 nights and for that I would expect a large room & 5 star service.

It was close to the train station and was in a quieter area of Venice but was still close enough to restaurants and shopping. The bathroom had a permanent "drainage" smell to it although it was clean. Guess it was the canal waters.

Location Staffs were neither friendly nor helpful. We checked in late at 10 P.M. with many luggages. None offered help. Breakfast was of bad quality too. Room feels old and unclean. We wont stay in this hotel anymore.

Nice room , breakfast was good , nice staff, near to train station ....... Very small tub and bathroom , you have walking min 500 m to arrived to hotel and 10 step up and 10 step down from bridge so be careful about your weight of luggage.

Location of the hotel is excellent. Right in front of the grand canal, and the train station is just few steps away. It is also near a major shopping street which will take you all the way to San mark's square, but it it will take 15 to 25 min to reach there depending on how fast you walk. Rooms at the hotel are pretty clean, and they are decorated in classic Venetian style. Breakfast was just ok, food did not look fresh, especially the bread. I would recommend this hotel non the less just because of its location and freindliness of the staff, they were really helpful when it mattered. The housekeeper forgot to put new soap one day and when we called them to get some soap bars, no one showed up. I had to sneak into the housekeeping room and get some myself. Also, the hotel restaurant is very overpriced and no variety.
