This is a very fine hotel in an old historic building that has been well maintained and remodled without losing its charm and is furnised in an attractice Sicilian way. There is a very comfortable feel among the common areas. The breakfast is exceptional, one of the best I've had in all of Italy which I've visited about 25 times. As a jogger, it offers a beautiful run along the harbor. In summary a real find and excellent value.l The wifi didn't work in room and sometimes it didn't work in common areas.

The location was very convienient and the breakfasts were wonderful but most of all the male receptionist, Gaspera was outstanding! He gave me excellent recommendations for museums, restaurants and additional information about the city and culture. He even called the museums to arrange tours for me as well as several restaurants to make reservations. His Engish was excellent and his service was very professional. I would highly recommend this Hotel because of his attention to details.

A beautiful room and bathroom and great amenities. It is in a great location as well and some of the concierge are very helpful. The view out the window wasn't worthy of opening the curtains and the room is on the small side for the price.

Hotel Carmine is a luxury hotel. The public spaces are large and very beautiful, the rooms spacious and very comfortable, the included breakfast almost too good to be true (a large banquet table laden with large selections of fruits, pastries, cheeses, meats, etc etc). It was my 60th birthday also our wedding anniversary, and as a courtesy the front desk sent a couple of glasses of good Marsala wine to our room soon after arrival, and later in the evening sent two small bottles of Prosecco to our room. They also put us in a room with an almost private balcony (we had no one staying next to us, so it was private for our night there). The location is good, the neighborhood is very nice and quiet, and there are restaurants within a few minutes walk. The one we liked was Trattoria Garibaldi in the piazza near the Garibaldi Gate, about 5 minute walk from the hotel. In the morning we left to go to Trapani, so we had the front desk call a taxi to take us to the train station with plenty of time to spare, or so we thought. Forty five minutes later the taxi still hadn't come despite the front desk calling again, and we missed our train. The woman at the front desk finally got us a taxi, and helped us with getting a somewhat reduced fare from Marsala to Trapani. Our final destination was Erice, so about halfway to Trapani our cab driver made us an offer we couldn't refuse to take us all the way to Erice (60 Euro), not cheap, but in the end well worth it. Our host in Erice told us it was a very good deal, so we felt as if we were not led astray by the front desk at Hotel Carmine. However, in retrospect, if you don't want the same thing to happen to you, make arrangements for a taxi the night before you are planning to need it. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

A pearl of a hotel.... The 3 star rating merits much more, the attention to detail was higher than most 5 star hotels we've stayed in !!..Great central location and the breakfast table was a feast for the eyes beneath the crystal chandelier The staff were extremely helpful and the restaurant 'La Lumie' suggested by Casper on reception was a treat. ( picked up and returned to the hotel after a sumptous meal.) If i recommend the hotel too highly I wont be able to get a room next time.. but i'll take that chance.

A lovely hotel, with a garden to sit in. Gorgeous breakfast. Very central The glass floor- with a gap of about 15 cm above the tiles. Pretty but strange to walk on!

Helpful staff. Good location in the old town. Great lounge area inside plus a lovely lush rear garden and seating area. Excellent spread for breakfast. Parking can be a bit of an issue though the staff assisted with relocating car when there wasn’t a ‘proper’ spot available. Stone hallways tended to echo noise a bit Wireless internet had very limited range.

The hotel is well situated to look around Masala and is set in an old nunnery which has been interestingly modernised while keeping the old features (our bedroom had a domed ceiling). Breakfast was good with a lavish selection of cakes. Keeping our room on for a couple of hours extra caused no problems.

Absolutely beautiful hotel with the wonderful decor and the lovely garden area. Breakfast was very nice and good quality. The hotel parking was at the front door - perfect- and the main part of town was a short walk from the hotel. Local garden restaurant nearby - la Bottega del Carmine - lovely food and great service.

I thought the lighting in the bathroom was very bad, also the view from the window was terrible, although better than the first room we were offered tha had no window at all ! Altogether a lovely building that has been badly renovated, overrated in our view.

Hotel does not have at all the internet WiFi in the whole hotel as advertised. Not at all. Means, you'll never have full WiFi in the hotel unless being standing in front of the lobby. And the WiFi certainly not goes to the rooms, or even in the garden. Not at all. This is a blatant lie to say that you'll be able to access it anywhere.

Very friendly and helpful staff. It is a pity we could not stay longer and that we had to leave too early to enjoy breakfast. The hotel building is a beautifully restored old building and you have al the shs and nice restaurants nearby. Lovely! Our quadruple room was perfect. Close to the airport ( about 15 min. drive)

Hotel has an interesting architecture, is nice to see it. In hotel they provide all services which are normally more expensive than you provide them yourself (taxi, trips). We had early flught at home, we ask for a coffe in a hotel, unfortunately, there wasnt prepare anything for us, even the staff aslept, so we almost lost our taxi.

Hotel Carmine is beautifully appointed. We had a suite so quite luxurious with modern furnishing mixing in with lovely antiques. Very chic. We used the spacious and gorgeous lounge (couldn't get WIFI in the rooms) as well as wonderful garden enlcosed in a courtyard.Staff were helpful and friendly. Overall location is superb.Hope to return some day.

“This was Sicilian hospitality at its very best. We missed the turn off for the hotel due to lack of good maps (our fault), the owners drove out to find us and took us back to the accommodation. We had a flat tyre on our rental car and the owner took it out at 10pm at night to pump it up for us. We opted for the breakfast €5 per person and it was lovely, fresh strawberries, fruit juice, various little biscut type snacks, all home made and served outside on our patio! The owners couldn't have been nicer, very friendly and welcoming. Lovely surroundings would have liked to stay longer. Thanks!” Stephanie, London |
