Casa Betania is a beautiful scenic property.
Where do i begin? I arrived at casa betania at around 1.30 pm and nobody was there at the reception. I called on the number at the reception to be told I have to wait as the receptionist sits only during check in I.e from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. anyhow I requested a lot and somebody came to just hand me the keys and rushed out. later on the lady who came from 2.30 to 5.30 refused to help and ran out at 5.30 sharp refusing to help me when I couldn't connect to what was the weakest wifi hotspot in all of Italy!! She just said, I have to go. Sorry! Maybe the line is down. Rooms do not have individual bathrooms and there is no facility for meals or any vending machines for a quick meal if need be. All in all, not at all value for money. However, Cortona was divine so no regrets there.
Large room free parking central location great value for money
not much of a breakfast
Very close to the center of Cortona with a grand view from the terrece.
No wifi in the room.
large room-excellent view from terrace-easy walking distance from old city and restaurants-free parking-price was right
wi-fi was sketchy at times not a strong signal always-
Car park was secure and safe. View from patio great. Room was fine Llocation close to town made it very convenient to find dinner cafes
Wifi was only connected to lobby and was not strong. Staff was difficult to connect to check in and was never seen again.
The location and facilities were excellent and I enjoyed my stay very much.
The hotel was more suited for groups on seminars or conferences.
Location, cleanliness, staff friendliness, good breakfast,
Wifi not existent in the room, a little hard to locate on the gps.
Awesome view (patio) of valley and location just 200 meters down hill from town; ideal room with 5 beds for family of 5; bath was big with 2 toilets and 1 working shower
LACK OF CLEANLINESS in bedding and the staff did NOT seem to care after my wife complained. They even confessed they did not always change the bedding! The sheets and pillows were dirty. The staff put clean pillow cases over yellow, stained, nasty pillows; sheets had stains and looked dingy.
Private parking in Cortona and great distance to the historical city center. Nice looking building from outside. Great terrace.
From outside it looks much more attractive than from inside. From inside you can feel yourself like in an old hospital or psichiatry... The bed was nice but the floor, bathroom and walls were really old and didn't see any renovation for decades.
Always our favourite spot - in fact the only affordable option we know of in Cortona! Just outside the city walls, so it's perfectly located - nice and peaceful (with great views down to Lake Trasimeno), and yet just a short walk from the town.
Don't rely on the Wi-Fi as it's very patchy. It wasn't a problem in the end, as we found a fast (and free) connection just up the road at Enoteca Enotria (first bar on the right as you enter the town) - a good and inexpensive place to go anyway, to enjoy the local food!
Location is set perfectly in the village. Friendly staff. Clean room and safe. Value for money
Wifi not so good
The beautifull property and it's view
Difficult drive to get there. Plastic platters at breakfast
Location is good, near city center. The convent was big, institutional and oddly staffed. The guy didn't shiw up until later to get breakfast ready. We went to town instead.
The view were spectacular but the place overall needed TLC.
Beautiful location and lovely accommodation. Close to the cortona city center and a very pretty walk.
Creepy atmosphere, dark, staff not around much, overgrown gardens, wouldn't let you eat your own food in terrace and they had no good food. Didn't know there was bad coffee in Italy. Nescafé and bad microwaved croissants.
Cheap, nice staff
They closed the desk at 8pm and left a phone number, which isn't great for people without a cell. They might want to give directions to a pay phone or put a phone outside their door or something. Having to figure this out certainly made for an adventure.
Wonderful setting, great location. Loved the terrace. Helpful staff
Wifi not so great in guest rooms, worked well in lobby area
The room had a lovely view.
Lots of mis-representations on the booking.com listing, which Nicoletta (?) flat out lied about upon arrival. Wifi is only available within about 10 feet of the single router in the building, that is in the office downstairs. She claims that it reaches the entire building, but this is very incorrect. Then blames it on Cortona's bad internet, also false. Another mis-representation: "private external bath", means dirty shared bath with no toilet paper. We had an additional 2 nights booked, and were told when we tried to cancel that we would have to pay anyway because of a one-week cancellation policy. It was a real fight to get them cancelled, and only because they were a separate reservation. I would not recommend this property to anyone that expects integrity.
Fantastic view of the valley and Lake Trasimeno from a very authentic terrace. We booked a room with private bathroom outside but given the fact of availability of bathroom inside room we were upgraded at no cost, which is very thoughtful. Breakfast was really nice. Parking availability at no extra cost. Beautiful walking distance to the center of Cortona. Helpful and very kind staff.
Great view and location.
Room not clean. Hard to find due to obscured signs marking the hotels location.
Amazing view from outside looking over the valley. It was nice that they had parking for our car, too.
They charge 4 euros for breakfast, which i asked what they served and they mentioned ham, cheeses, and other items. I figured it would be worth getting. When we showed up there was just cereal and pastries and not very good coffee. The kind of 'continental' breakfast you expect at super 8. I was disappointed mainly because I don't believe any place should charge for the kind of breakfast they were serving. If I could do it again I would pass on it. The rooms were simple, felt like you sleeping in a school.
The vieuw from the window
The very poor breakfast on disposible tablewear. We had to make our own tea at breakfast. There was an electric cattle, but the water did not get warm enough. There was no fruit or yoghurt or something extra. Only very small croissants. The packaged toast was stale. On the double bed there were two old small single blankets. The bathroom was very old. The host was not very helpfull and we waited 20 minutes till she came to welcome us at the arrival. We had to pay immediately and did not get a receipt.
While I was there, two choral groups sang in the small theater on the first floor of Betania, absolutely magical. Afterward we shared a buffet dinner on a wide, leafy patio that overlooks the valley far below. Every few minutes one or the other group would sing another song. Convenient to town, good parking, quiet, comfortable bed, friendly staff. The owner took me for an extended tour of the facility, which until recently was a nunnery. Some of the walls could be Roman.
The terrace, the view. Fair value for money.
The bathroom needs renovation.
Room was large and clean, no hand soap however. nice location, quiet and pretty
Staff were friendly when we saw them, which was once, when we checked in. No one was there when we went to check out, and whole building was ghostlike. door to terrace was locked - terrace was the reason we chose the accommodation in the first place
